Mystery Construction

World's largest outhouse bathroom on a man made island sitting below a gigacoaster in an amusement park. Coming in 2010!

There was already an outhouse (port-o-potty) back there for Terror Island's break area. Of course, nobody wanted to use a port-o-potty in the pitch black woods, so I just let my people use the Carnevil restrooms.

And I would rule out the "something for Halloweekends" speculation. If they were doing anything for Terror Island back there, they would have left the trees, as there was already a very nice, heavily wooded path back there that would have been perfect for a haunt trail.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

I honestly will not be surprised if they get rid of snake and/or camp snoopy.

I'd look more closely at Iron Dragon than Camp Snoopy, if we're looking at what in the vicinity of MF Island could go

All I'm saying is, they just thew in Planet Snoopy. All the same rides in a lot smaller footprint, and it seemed a whole lot busier than Camp this season. Granted, Planet was the new attraction but I've worked every ride in Camp in the middle of July and never had anything but walk-ons on every ride besides Woodstock. If you ask me, its prime real estate for a major attraction. It would be easy to move some of the kiddie flats over to the GCA/Gemini midway area.

As a parent I like have kiddie areas toward the front of the park and toward the back of the park. I would not advocate eliminating Camp Snoopy...particuarly for a thrill ride.

Now, if they eliminated Camp Snoopy in order to build a FAMILY ride...one the tots to Grandma and Grandpa could enjoy together...then I might be supportive of that.

I would agree with having Kiddie areas in the park. I have 2 kids myself and they actually love Camp better than Planet. Woodstock is a favorite as is the swings and the tilt-a-whirl(or as my kids call it the Eggride..lol) I would like to see a family ride as well. My oldest is just tall enough for Iron Dragon and may be 48" by the end of the season. Something along the lines of a bigger and somewhat badder than Wildcat would be interesting while incorporating the water.

Occam's Razor...

(from Screamscape)

As for the ground clearing under Xcelerator’s brake run, I’ve been told that the park will build a new permanent bulding on the site which will be used as a major haunt for Halloween and for Haunt Storage the rest of the year.

It isn't exactly PROOF, but it seems reasonable that two construction projects at this time of year at two Cedar Fair parks may be related to each other...

Man, it's a good thing some of you guys aren't on the planning committee. You'd be bulldozing everything in sight. If anything, CP needs more of the demographic of families with small children, not less. Try to think of the company's perspective instead of what 'you' would do in your fantasy RCT world.

Well it sure looks like they are going to turn The Paddle boats into duck ride duh, just like The dells why cant anyone else see that? :)

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

Looking at the land cleared on both sides of the water, I don't think its very apparant that any attraction would have to be moved or torn down at all. I would agree with those suspecting a family-oriented attraction...but perhaps on a semi-large scale, such as a frontier-themed flume ride of some sort. It's a nice piece of land to work with as-is.

Did he just mention Screamscape? Well if its on there than that must be what is going on at the Point! (can you hear the sarcasm?)

I only see cleared land on Millennium Island, not across the river.

R.I.P. Mr. Scott

A lot of people speculate about a water ride going in but I just don't think so. Water rides were really popular in the 70's and 80's but not as much any more. Maybe if CP were located in a warmer climate, but as it is now, the park is only open 6 months. 2 of those months, it gets pretty cold. Not too many people want to get wet when it's 50 degrees outside. I don't see them making a big investment on something that's gonna have a lot of ridership only 4 months out of the year. But what do I know?

Well, you can basically draw the same conclusion without Screamscape...

There are recent pictures available of both Knott's and Cedar Point.

In Knott's Berry Farm, you can see construction vehicles clearing the land underneath Xcelerator. This area has been used for KBF's Haunt in recent years.

In Cedar Point, you can see constrution vehicles clearing the land on Millenium Island... an area used recenty for CP's Halloweekends, and as uncovered storage for excess and former ride vehicles.

It seems reasonable to suggest that the two projects are related... that both parks are getting at least a decent shed... if not a major storage area. Maybe even enough to free up room in various other buildings currently used for storage.

...Screamscape gets much worse than it deserves... where did YOU get your first look at Maverick?

I used to ride White Water Landing no matter how cold it was... because you didn't get very wet and it was a lot of fun. They used to have some kind of small waterfall (or water "trickle") bit, but I think it was only active during the warmer months.

Am I missing something here, was there a second bone yard on Millennium Island?????

CP Fanatic, The other cleared land that I am understanding was the Boneyard which is located across from the Island behind Snake River and runs along the Railroad and ends near the Millennium hills over the lagoon. It used to be filled with Holloweekends items and old ride parts and the plows for snow removal and such, and as seen in the pictures nothing is there at the moment. One could argue Spring cleaning, and and Snow removal equipment may still be needed, but the park would have stored Halloweekend items in the fall, and old ride parts wouldn't necessarily be needed now.

If indeed the Boneyard was emptied for anything other than a deep Spring cleaning of throwing out the trash, then I assume the CP&RR will get a boost in ridership as it did during Mavericks construction.

Just your usual come and go poster. One week I am here, then I disappear for a while.

It wasn't Screamscape. They didn't have a scoop, they were just the ones with the least amount of ethics.

I don't understand why we just can't wait until we go to the park and see what is new. Why talk about what could come to the park? I don't understand why everyone is so impatient.

I understand that... they didn't "break the news".. they "broke the embargo" or whatever.

I thikn that the person that sent in the story is the one with the ethical problem, not the site or its editor.

Yeah... and why bet money on sports?

Why do people say "it looks like it's going to rain"? "it feels like it's going to be a hot one today?"

Why spend so much time thinking about what your opponent will do in a chess match? Why don't you just move your damned piece and wait for him to DO it?
