If the announcement is going to be carried live on tv then that might call for having a very specific time. Any chance everyone could settle down a bit until Thursday?

I guess I'll be the first to throw it out there...any signifigance with the date/time? 9:10 seems rather unusual...

But, if you removed all the posts of people asking if it were the longest, it would be a lot shorter.Don't forget about all of the useless childish whining and all of the "can't we just get along" posts.
^Mostly likely they chose 9:10 because it's 10 minutes after early entry which gives people a few minutes to gather around for the announcement.
The park opens @ 11 this week, which means early entry is at 10.

9:10 was the exact time that the hatfeilds and mccoys back in 1883, that the feud started. It all started with a accidental sneeze into Mr Hatfield's whisky still.
^^ Oops, my bad. Well in that case I have no idea, but Chief Wahoo and the ffej man both make good points.
I'll save you some trouble - there's no significance to the announcement date or time. There's a reason why it's at 9:10, but it has nothing to do with the product we're announcing. It's more of a housekeeping thing.
Also, there is no in-park event. It's all being done online.

It is a bit sad this thread is going to die. But we'll all just move to the new one about the ride.
I don't think that 9:10 has any significant thing to do with the ride. If you are trying to think of ways it could be significant to the ride, however, you should probably chill.

^Thanks for reiterating exactly what Tony just said about there being nothing significant about the time of the announcement. LMAO
Thor - I would imagine that we will see a whole new forum section for the new ride, with individual threads for different aspects.
Buckeye - look at the post times. Thor was probably typing his up as Tony posted his and hadn't seen it.

So nothing in the park? Interesting. Has there ever been a "ride" announcement with nothing done in the park?

Tony, that's a little too far fetched for me. It has to mean something!
I disagree. I think Tony along with all of us are getting exhausted with keeping up with this thread. He is just trying to help.

I’m a bit reluctant to post here given the sensitivity of some members on this website and the arguments that spark up sporadically, but I have been reading this thread for quite some time now, and now that we are down to the wire I'd like to make somewhat of a prediction.
I'm going to have to go out on a limb and say whatever the 2010 ride construction consists of I would have to guess that it will not be a huge project. I believe this because of the fact that all information will be released strictly on the internet and no formal press release will be done in the face of other persons. The previous press releases at the other two parks this year were obviously done online but I was sure it was also done in person (correct me if I'm wrong). I also read that there was live video being broadcasted on the internet of these events. At these two events, two huge coaster projects were revealed which I would have to assume was the reason why they had a press release in person with the media attending. Cedar Point is not doing this either because it’s not a big enough project or because they assume anything with the Cedar Point name will generate its own buzz. Only my guess, however like most of us I am hoping for a roller coaster for next year, I’ll be happy with whatever we receive though, even though my first choice looks to be more than a year away.
I am just glad the announcement isn't at 3:30 AM like they did for Maverick. Didn't get much sleep that night.
And, unless I'm mistaken, there was no formal live press conference for Maverick either. Its just that all the multi-media went live and the press services were given the OK to go ahead and release the info they had. So, a lack of live press conference has nothing to do with the size of the project.

Really? Well that's what I was wondering...so there is a precedent set for announcing a ride without an in-park deal?

I can't remember a formal in-park press event for a ride announcement since Raptor in 1993.

In reguards to your post, when you compare it to there other two Cedar Fair park 2010 announcments this year it most certainly does. Its very obvious that in previous years Cedar Fair did not do live press releases with people attending. So unless Cedar Point is going to do a rewind and go with what they used to do then it could be huge, but if they are like most people who move forward instead of back, then I would have to assume they would continue like they did the others, which they are not doing so I would have to assume it won't be big....
