DJ - It was Gordon who was visiting.

CPBoy - Jeff has been contracted occasionally to do media work for the park. Other than that though, they are not officially connected, but that doesn't mean they don't know people.

There might be something to the "Intimidator" reference of "JP" above. Two of CPs' "sister" parks here in the Va/NC/SC area are getting pretty impressive "Dale Earnhardt Sr."-themed coasters. A 305ft Intamin at Kings Dominion, and a 232ft B&M at Carrowinds. Seeing as neither "topped" anything at CP, maybe CP is going to unveil another "Intimidator" for CP. Having moved from MI to NC, I realize that Ohio isn't really NASCAR or "Earnhardt country", but with two Cedar Fair parks spending $25 million and $23 million on similarly themed coasters from two different manufacturers, it doesn't seem too "wild" to put forth the possibility that CP might have a third "Intimidator" (perhaps a huge wood coaster) slated for their "flagship" park. Check out the other two. The "Intamin" looks as if Millennium Force & Maverick "mated", and the B&M is a huge series of airtime hills with a unique seating arrangement for their trains.

The fact that everyone is assuming that the new CP ride is going to be Nascar themed, simply because KD's and Carowinds' coasters were, is almost as hysterical as everyone who thought Maverick would be a 500-footer.

I don't "think" anyone's "assuming" anything there "raceringer" why wouldn't "they" put in something "similar" to rides they "already have"? ;-)

I went back and read all the clues again. Someone tell me how this could be a flume with this clue? An Aquatrax makes sense, but one of the clues directly is that it's not an Aquatrax.

I believe that was posted around the time of the other "red herring" tweets. They said "Gee, See Eye!" at that time too, and we've since confirmed there's no GCI headed their way.

The Harnesses tweet we believe to be about the Safety Article that came out the same day. That would mean it has nothing to do with the ride. Not 100% certain but 99.99999999999999999999999% sure.

You could say Cedar Point is doing more. Carowinds and KD didn't send out a teaser media kit. They did something similar for Diamondback. They send out a huge bolt to the media outlets. It came with a note saying it was the smallest bolt on KI's attraction for 2009. That may have come with an announcement date, I don't recall.

It did. I still have the bolt on my mantle. Others here who got/saw the media "gift" were a little confused. I've never, ever seen a media kit that wasn't an invite or a release. I've got my Whyte Lightning jug next to my DB bolt at home, and waiting until that next package shows up.

FWIW, most media outlets only need a few days notice before an event. In fact, it's much easier for things to get forgotten if they're sent weeks in advance. From the assignment desk's point of view, I'd say 1 weeks notice is a good tiemframe. Plenty of time to plan, but not enough time to forget.

Like ive said many times log flume!

To review, the licensing agreement between CF and DEI was for Carowinds and Kings Dominion specifically...not CP. Forget anything related to DEI.

We know the ride will fill a gap in CP's lineup...

It's falling on deaf ears, friend. Somehow the logical posts get skipped, leaving us with 5123510 pages of crap.

Would it be possible to create a log flume that worked similarly to a water coaster? Have magnets propel it up hill and maybe even a launch when the Moonshine distillation turns volatile?

Because I'm an assignment editor at a Columbus television affiliate. Working in the media has it's drawbacks, but perks like these make up for it.

Dead Men Tell No Tales

Well, out of all the kinds of coasters they have suggested to us, all have been ruled out day by the day this week. No Intamin was mentioned today so I'm assuming it will be some kind of Intamin (yet again).

As stated in previous posts, the general consensous will by that you will not get wet on this ride (unconfirmed hint at Maverick ERT by Tony). Therefore, all Intamin water rides, with the exception of the log flume, are out. My personal opinion is that the log flume, how ever interesting and fun it may be, would require too much of an investment into theming the ride (presuming it would be something like Splash Mountain, only taller). Therefore, I believe (hope, and pray) that it will be a coaster, but the odds for a flume are very high. Its about 65/35 flume.

DISCLAIMER: This is just my opinion. There are no "facts" or "evidence" to back it up.

@captian hawkeye: I understand that water coasters exist utilizing rubber innertubes. But those belong exclusively in water parks. There is no way to avoid being 100% drenched on one of those.

but... if it was possibly to use similar technology to propel a more protective/water proof vehicle, such as a boat/log, then a ride of this variety could be used within an amusement park. To me this sounds like it is right up Intamin's alley.

I wonder if they would move Snake River Falls? They said it wasn't leaving the park... I think it is fun to read this thread. When you go to work and come home, there is many pages to catch up on...

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

I think Snake River Falls bolts are so rusted they could not move much of it without replacing much of it. It would probably be less money and headache to rebuild it from scratch.

Disclaimer though, this may be a completely idiotic statement on my half, since I have no idea what it would take to move... Just a hunch tough.
