^So, are you saying that an amusement park shouldn't have any water rides? What is someone supposed to to if they want to cool down? You can only see Snoopy Rocks on Ice so many times.

I like water rides that don't get you wet. I would trade Thunder Canyon and Snake River Falls for White Water Landing and Mill Race any day. Especially these days when everyone carries around a phone and camera.

I have enjoyed both water rides. But I usually stay in the cabins and go back and put on my trunks and do the water rides a couple times and then go back and change out afterward. Just don't like waking around the park soaked. SRF is a little more then just a a cool down ride.

i seriously hope cedar point is not getting a flume. with all the top notch roller coaster cedar fair is putting in at other cedar fair parks (ki, kd, carowinds) i think cedar point needs another coaster. if they don't get a new coaster this year, my yearly trip to cedar point will be changed to either ki or kd and i'm sure others will do the same. i know what cedar point has to offer and a new flume won't bring me back. i would much rather go ride intimidator 305 or dimondback.

my fav. rides:
1) Top Thrill Dragster
1) M-Force
1) Maverick

I dont post often in this forum solely based on the fact that everyone is being so critical. If this was any other forum I would never return but the anticipation is bringing me back. The ironic thing that I see is all the degrading comments about reading the entire blog before responding. I agreed at first but I now find that funny seeing that 90% of the entire thing is just ridiculous negativity towards anyone that posts an opinion. I have read every page since the start and it is exhausting keeping up with you (badword). I am sorry for taking more space on the blog but I am leaving in the morning for a weekend trip to CP and will report back any new info.

as said before...cant we all just get along. I for one dont know what in the heck it could be. I am just excited!

CP Nut

It is NOT a water ride, Tony said that you wouldn't get wet on the ride AND water ride is not mentioned on the point poll.

Millenium(spelled it wrong bud) I'll buy you season pass if it isn't a flume.

You're more than welcome to do that, as that's one less person in front of me next summer, and one less coaster enthusiast through the gate that, when it comes down to the financials, the park could care less about. If you think they build stuff to try and please the enthusiasts, quite simply you're wrong. And if you think they'll miss a few enthusiasts in the park, again, wrong, because that family of four that walked in through the gate behind you with two young kids will likely more than make up that spending.

We've been through this particular kick a million times, I thought it was common knowledge by now. Oh well, back to your wish lists of rides...

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I agree 100% I'll think of you when my wait for the new flume is a few minutes less, thanks!

How many years do you think the other CF parks were saying the exact same thing as CP built coaster after coaster while they were neglected? Ask Michigan's Adventure if they would like a shiny new (not used) coaster.

Ok despite all this nonsense, Ill throw in my prediction. Anyone ever hear of or ride DarKastle at BGW? Just seems like a perfect fit to me. This one could be to the theme of a the whole Whyte Lightning moonshine southern western thing.

Oh, and its made by Intamin btw.

I used to be a season pass holder to Cedar Point 3 or so years ago, but I graduated college and became a part of society and didn't find time to get to the park. Now that I'm "all grown up" I made my first trip back to CP this year and got my first (2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th) ride on Maverick.

Needless to say I've been lurking around the forum just reading up on what the latest fad or argument is for the day. I find it easier to read this forum (one central location) then checking all the different websites out there. If something pertinent is mentioned on another website (ie. A new post from Tony on Twitter) it will certainly be mentioned on here within moments.

My thoughts for 2009? Flume. I don't think it's coincidence that CP's last flume had White in the name and next years attraction (seemingly) will have Whyte in it's name as well (this isn't my entire argument, but just something that hasn't been mentioned lately). Also, a family ride that the whole family can enjoy is a win-win for the park. This is especially the case since White Water Landing made it's exit a few years back for Maverick and it's widely missed. I certainly missed it on my visit this year.

One last note... is it me or does there appear to be "eyes" on the bottle at WhyteLightning.com? Maybe there will be an evil or dark portion to Whyte Lightning? That'll get these characters in here rolling... ;)

In my honeset opinion, CP doesnt "need" another coaster right now. I believe that CF had to put in Diamondback and Intimidator because their respective parks(with the possible exception of KD) lacked a big power ride. Sure Carowinds has Afterburn, Nighthawk and Thunderoad. But what they needed was a new ride that would be a symbol of the park. Intimidator gives them that. Diamondback does the same for KI.

In terms of CP, they have symbols. MF, TTD, Magnum, WT, Raptor, Maverick, Blue Streak, Gemini. But they are lacking a good family attraction. A flume would fill that void. Sure I'd love to see a GCI woodie. But a new flume will good too im sure. They seem to be building lots of excitment with this ride, so it should be pretty good. Plus its not like CP will never make another addition to the park. Who knows, that GCI woodie may come in 2011.

I love that idea. Just dont know if that is what Whyte Lightning is though. But I would really like to see that come to CP. Re-do Pirate ride anyone?

Here's my uneducated, uninspired, unimaginative thoughts on 2010. I really think they are going to build a dueling coaster for Millennium Force. I've taken into consideration the following:

1.) The spelling of Whyte Lightning with a Y instead of an I. The Y could indicate a split, or duel.
2.) The "Lightning Strikes TwYce" comment on the WL website.
3.) The Millennium Force logo on everything we have seen so far regarding the new attraction.
4.) The fact that there hasn't been very much construction yet and its nearly September.
5.) Footers have been spotted very close to MF.
6.) The workers at Gemini making comments such as "Thank you for riding 'Whyte Lightning'" and other similar comments. Gemini being a duel coaster perhaps there is a reason they were saying that?
7.) Millennium Force is an Intamin coaster which would fit the hints from CP.
8.) Perhaps the whole moonshine thing refers to seeing double, such as duel trains.
9.) The use of existing characters in the park could mean they will be incorporating an existing attraction, such as MF.
10.) Check out the wikipedia page for "Lightning Racer". It is a dueling coaster made by GCI.
11.) One of the clues by CP was Gee See, Eye.... catching on???
12.) Lightning Strikes TwYce... as in Lightning Racer???
13.) The Lightning Racer is noted for sending both trains through the same elements though at different times. This makes building another train to "race" with MF entirely possible.

Soooo in conclusion I believe they are going to be making a dueling coaster, possibly to duel with MF. It all makes sense in my head but I've had a few beers and not enough sleep so what do I know.

*edit to add "take" before "into consideration"... a result of Labatt Blue*

*edit again to explain my reasoning behind the Y in bullet number 1.*

^Wow! I would believe they are getting another Magnum before a another dueling coaster. Your theory makes me laugh!

Pepsi Refresh is saving one coaster at a time: http://pep.si/bTTsfc

Thanks Coolkid. I actually made myself laugh after I reread my post.

But... it could be a record for the park too. Most dueling coasters in one park and first dueling steel coaster. We all know how CP has an unquenchable thirst for breaking records.

There actually is a steel dueling coaster. Dueling Dragons at Islands of Adventure.

Fun fact about Dueling Dragons.
It was originally going to be a Disney ride.
