Right now, we ARE their target audience. The only people I know that even know there may be something going in at Cedar Point in '10 are people like us. The only people I know who I would classify as GP that know about this project is because I told them about it.
No, their target audience is not enthusiasts. Their target audience is everyone of the approximately 3 million people who visit every year, plus whoever else they can get the attention of.

I have been saying this all along. T&T may be playing this ride up more than the others because it is not a coaster. As I have said before a coaster creates alot of its own hype with enthusiasts and GP alike. A ride that is not a coaster just does not have that same affect. A reason for hyping this ride more than other ones, is because lots of people are expecting a coaster from CP even the GP.
R.I.P. Mr. Scott
That's not what I was suggesting, but you have a good point, CP fanatic. Some things market themselves more than others, and require less effort to create a certain amount of awareness.
Brandon
It's just that the waiting is making me crazy! I'm just trying to make some sense out of all of it...
Yeah sorry DJ, I noticed that you were saying something slightly different so I edited my post.
R.I.P. Mr. Scott
You have to ask yourself what is it that CP mainly bills itself as? America's Family Park? No. America's Favorite Amusement Park? Not really. America's Roller Coast? Yes. So now that the marketing has gone GP instead of Enthusiast's Community (Articles were in both the Sandusky Register and Lorain Morning Journal today), I would also lean towards a coaster since that is what the entire world thinks of when they think of CP.
Of course, my logic is probably flawed, and it will be a new on Point brewery. :)

Please no water battle ride!!! Buccaneer battle at SFGAM is horrible and boring..... But really fun for kids.
I'd have to disagree with you entirely. I went on it with my family and everyone loved it. I have never had as much fun on an amusement park ride than I did on Buccaneer Battle.Everyone I saw on or by the ride all had big smiles on their faces. I think it is a great ride for kids and adults. I personally, love how you can "fight back" at those annoying people outside the ride, that stand there all day shooting at riders with the waterguns. I was actually hoping the CP would be getting one of these, but I doubt it since the ride has no type of restraint or "harness" system. I ruled this out during the "wheels...check..harnesses check.." clue. But you never know, they would be getting a modified one with harnesses.
"Water will be involved." MrScott 2006
I have no idea whats coming. But I have to say if I ran a company that needed some great marketing, I'd probably hire Tony and his crew.
So, what are we looking at here, next wednesday for an announcement or labor day weekend??
When you visit CP, visit my Mill, est. 1835
Thought I would share the little cartoon that was in the Media Kits .

Here's something no one has said yet.
Carrowinds is getting a shiny new hyper, and King's Dominion is getting a shiny new giga. That's not just another Batman or Boomerang ride, those are significant new additions. Do you really think Cedar Point would build a water ride or dark ride when those two rides are being built? Seems to me Cedar Point would want to build something to compete--obviously not at that scale, but that would mean it is a roller coaster.
The last coaster Cedar Point built was in 2007. Next year is 2010, three years away. I did the math, and the average amount of time between coasters in the modern age is 2.75--so they are due.
The last time Cedar Point built a wooden coaster was in 1991. This coaster is, to many, no good and boring. The other wooden coaster? Built in 1964. I'd say they are due for that.
Also, as no one has yet to disagree, Cedar Point is America's Roller Coast. When you have 17 coasters already, you need to get up some hype for another one so it isn't lost in the sea of steel and wood.
Logic and reasoning, in my opinion, point to a roller coaster, and a wooden one at that. I'm going to say it is an intamin woodie. Final answer.
Undomesticated equines could not remove me.
I wouldn't mind a Gravity Group wooden coaster if for no other reason than I went to college and sometimes even ate lunch with Korey Kiepert. :)

CP is going to build what they need. They don't need another coaster, as they hardly lack in that department. Sure, they could use a shiny new GCI, but they're not lacking any coaster type. And since Jeff mentioned that next year's attraction will fill a void in their attraction lineup, I think its safe to say they're not getting a coaster.

I just had a bad vision. If this ride ends up being something like Buccaneer Battle, I'm going to scream. Not that it's not a fun ride for the family, but all this hype would be down right cruel for a ride like that. Tell me it's not Tony? :-)

Cedar Point doesn't remotely compete with Kings Dominion or Carowinds. KD and Carowinds don't even overlap in their own markets, or else they wouldn't both be getting rides with the same name.
What those parks build for 2010 has nothing to do with what is coming to the Point next year.
EDIT: dj beat me to it.... must invest in faster brain. ;)

Even if they did compete, same parent company. They're not losing money.
