Mystery Construction

When it comes to Mean Streak, I think within a few years we will see GCI doing some extensive work on it. Although I find it to be sort of boring, most of the public's complaint is with the roughness. As we saw with all the work they put in to save Son of Beast (even though it didn't work), they are willing to try and fix the problems. Mean Streak's structure seems just fine, and after all, it is nice to look at. I think it would be a good ride at full speed and GCI tracking/trains. Just think of how much more fun the first drop would be if the main thing on your mind wasn't "this is going to hurt, really bad."

But for 2010, I'm thinking flume, but involving something/element that nobody has thought of.

Isnt GCI doing a massive rebuild of Thunder Road at Carowinds? Maybe something similar could be happen to Mean Streak soon.

Yeah, I don't CP will get a new wooden unless it involves Mean Streak being demolished or completely redone.

First rollback=opening weekend '09

This my theory.
Ok Look at all of the little clues such as Like I like my lunch TOGO or im not taking my My Beemer (B&M) these are all clues on What is not going to be built at all!!!!
I think it is going to be an S&S Coaster.
Thay Just came out with some really cool stuff and i think CP is gonna jump on it But...... I could Be Wrong!!!! But it just seems that there naming all of these coaster Builders and if You Really Know What Is Going On I do Believe That TOGO don't exist any more and if i am right about that than you should count out GCI Too.
Basically there telling you that it is not gonna be any of those companies!!!
But what do i know right!!!

The only S&S coaster I could see them putting in is a 4th Dimension. Looking at the other coasters they build on their website, they are either launching (which is not needed) or too tiny.

A fourth Dimension Would Be Really Cool!!!! Especially if it is Built A little Bigger Than X!!!!!!

Wow that was a long 20 pages to catch up on after vacation. Atleast I got a new education in common sense, logic, and how to attack people on the internet.

Pretty much we know as much as we did 20 pages ago. (Atleast 20 probably more) Its not a woodie. It is not a B&M. It is not a Togo. ;)

The only 2 options that are left after using logic (if you need a logic lesson read the last 20 pages) is a dark ride, or a log flume.....OR a combo of the 2. After all the rumors of the water ride coming, because they took down WWL, I am going with a log flume.

Dj do you agree or is my logic wrong?

Ok, so after snooping around on google, I came across this. Is this something cedar point would build? It is something that could be built bigger to break records.

I feel A Water Ride Would Be A Very Poor Investment for them Due to the Fact That we don't have a long season of hot weather for the ride to be a success! I mean on c' mon opening day is in may it is not hot enough for a water ride to really be open I never see Thunder Canyon Ever open untill at least till june on a consistant Basis So why would thay Spend some serious Coin On something like that!!!!
But.. That Is Just My Opinion.

Even if they are only popular for 3 or 4 months out of the season, the water rides rack up huge numbers because the temps get in the 90's. People get hot and that is where that water ride comes in.

Coming back from Busch Gardens this week, I really wish they had a better water ride. Escape From Pompeii doesnt get you wet unless you are in the front row, and the rest of the water rides are hit and miss. It was 101 degrees there. I needed a water ride and a good one wasn't there. CP is missing a good log flume. That is until next year.

I can't see Mean Streak going anywhere....if anything, shave off the top layer of track and do a new track....not tubular....but the same as before and it will be much smoother. It is a great ride, and if you complain about your back hurting...then ride it with your hands on the bars in front of you and your back against the seat back and you will be fine. Other then that, it offers a short line and a great ride. My opinion though so I'm sure I'll be bashed on here for liking the ride.

The season is long enough as it is with hot weather. Most summers provide enough heat mid June through the last day of full time operation to warrant a ride through water.

If done correctly, you should be able to control the amount of water your guests receive. This way during colder months, guests don't walk around drenched and can still enjoy the ride. Cedar Point could use a new flume and I for one am excited that the park is getting one (my guess;)) and not a coaster.

It wasn't so much a guess;)

A few pages ago someone was complaining about Wild Thornberries being an old flume with a retheme.

That isn't entirely true. While the station, lifts, long drops, boat spacing controls and diversion system are all more or less original (look for the Fiberglas flume) the rest of the ride was completely replaced when the ride was re-themed. The new flume is galvanized steel. The reason it bounces around so much is that it was re-done by Hopkins, who followed the path of the original ride, but changed the elevations around and actually increased the drop between the two lifts by about six feet. The result is that the ride no longer behaves in accordance with Karl Bacon's hydrodynamic calculations, and relies more on the guide wheels than on flow to keep it on target.

Flume rides are one type of ride where Arrow really did a better job than anyone else.

Walt, is it me or does Wookieepedia make us coaster nuts look almost sane? Why do I have a feeling that if you look closely at the credits for Star Wars there probably isn't an entry for "Davish Krail"...?

(I always thought he was just "Gold 5" or "The Stay-On-Target Dude")

Indeed, Wookiepedia is beyond insane. But it is an interesting resource. :)

It seems like quite a few wood coasters are having a rough year...

Life is like a rollercoaster! It is full of ups and downs

There's a lot of potential out there in the world of flumes, and not all are theming dependent. Kennywood's Log Jammer is a great example, no theming, couple of nice drops, doesn't soak you, visible splash-down, always popular. The Mack water-coaster Poseidon at Europapark is pretty great too, slim on theming and a great ride. I'd rather see CP put in something that doesn't require theming to be fun than put in something theming heavy, then watch its gradual decline.

I just looked at the Mack website and it really looks like CP might be getting one of those whether it be a water ride, dark ride or combo. Which, those watercoasters look cool.
