Just 5 days until Carowinds announcement, and roughly 14 days away until CP announces. Won't be long long now. :)

After that we can begin the countdown until we can ride the log flume :P

Thornberry's is a decent log ride with a little bit of unusual theming. A much better flume that once existed just up the way in Rivertown was Kenton's Cove Keelboat Canal. That ride, which was much taller than the current Thornberry's, was a leisurely tour through the treetops before the final heart-pounding plunge.

Assuming this new ride belongs in the general category of 'water ride', I hope that it incorporates both gentle and thrilling elements. And no water cannons, please.

Hmmm Snake River is falling apart and PWE is a shadow of its former. Could the new ride kill two rides with one stone? Gentle ride through the canal with PWE like theme, ending with a SRF sized plunge. Sounds good to me as long as I don't have to worry about my camera in my left pocket and phone in my right pocket getting wet in the process.

Now that we know Carowinds' Beemer is also an Earnhardt-themed coaster a la Kings Dominion's coaster, I would suspect the name "Whyte Lightning" is reserved solely for CP.

The shape of the letter Y reminds me of White Water Landing's ending...two "chutes" both landing into the water (striking "twice", if you will). Perhaps we will once again see a double-chuted flume.

KCKC was a great ride, and I miss it, especially since it was torn out to put in Tomb Raider/The Crypt. It had a helluva final drop, and was one of the first thrilling rides I ever rode.

I liked the other log flume better before the Thornberry's re-theming. It used to fit well into its surroundings, and now it's very gaudy. Makes me happy that CP keeps commercial tie-ins to a minimum. The elephant at the end is the worst. You just splashed just the right amount on the flume, and then right before the station, you get soaked via an electronic sensor. The ride's pretty much over at that point, and it's just no fun.

I'm hoping no water cannons on whatever CP is building too.

CW seems to have a car theme.............and we see so does KD...........could CP be getting the 3rd .............hence the 1 2 3

I like the elephant at the end. Water canyons are the worst. The rapids at KI is horrible. you get drenched.

^^I hope not. A NASCAR theme is tacky.

First rollback=opening weekend '09

Yeah! ^^ Drag Racing has SO much more class than NASCAR!!! :-)

Anyway, I think it is safe to say that if there is a theme it won't be done particularly well and, even if it is, it won't last. That isn't a knock agains the creative folks in the planning department. There are a couple of folks there who Disney would hire in a hearbeat. Problem is, they don't get a Disney budget to work with.

Regardless of what it is I think people need to focus on the ride experience and not the theme. Maverick would have been better with the theme elements that were supposed to be but it is still a great ride without them.

The Earnhardt/DEI deal with Cedar Fair is only for Carowinds and Kings Dominion, not CP.

Can someone help me out here, What year was PWE entrace moved to its current location?

Shoot the rapids, tame and dry. Thunder Canyon, wet and laughter. Snake River Falls, soaked and smiling. White Water Landing and the old shoot the rapids, Fun and missed.

Hey everyone, I'm a newcomer here to pointbuzz. I've been following this topic for a bit and I have a couple of things to say here.

1. The last couple pages everyone seems that it is for sure going to be a log flume. That seems reasonable to me, but perhaps someone can make a list of why that is the general consensus. (with quotes, links, etc.)

2. Intimidator 305 looks very nice. The one thing that confuses me is the lift hill. I am very surprised by the supports (or lack of them) for the first hill. Does anyone else think this is strange?

3. Here's my two cents on the new ride. I have a hard time believing that Cedar Point would not build a roller coaster of some variant. They are, as they so often say, America's Roller Coast. Cedar Point is known for their roller coasters. Yes, Snake River Falls is getting old and yes they took out a water ride to put in Maverick, but Cedar Point is not a water park. Personally, if I want to get wet, I will go to a water park, not a theme park, but that's just me. I don't think they would put in a water ride with all the suspense going around.

There is also the fact that Cedar Point would not hold the record next year, which is a big deal for them. I think that it will be an Intamin prefab, an Intamin something else, or a GCI woodie. Darnovo made a statement back on page 109 that Cedar Point would not build a wooden because of Mean Streak, Blue Streak, and Gemini. I think that statement is exactly why they will build one. BS is fine, but nothing groundbreaking. MS is not so mean anymore. Gemini, to the educated crowd, is not even wood.

By any measurement, Cedar Point does not have a great wooden coaster. It is sad when a fellow sister park, Wolds of Fun over here for instance, has a better wooden coaster (Prowler) than Cedar Point. It should be flat out embarrasing.

Now I haven't read all 117 pages of this thread, so if I am missing something or have something incorrect, it is not on purpose so please enlighten me :-)

^^^I think Blue Streak is a really good coaster. If Mean Streak got new trains so it would not shuffle down the track, I would ride it. I think they could use another wooden Roller Coaster. Somthing fun but compact would be fun. BoardWalk Bullet looks really fun. Gravity group would be alot better choice than GCI or Inatamin AG. A water coaster or log flume would be ok with me also. As long as you get log flume wet not Pilgrims Plunge or Snake River Flalls wet. It looks wierd to me that Cedar Point is one of the only amuesment parks i know that doesn't have a log flume.

Trains won't make MS not shuffle....allowing it to go at the designed speed would (maybe) do that.

That's a big maybe. Keep in mind the second and third hills have been modified, and the angles on many banked curves have been reduced. There really is no "design" left to work with, at least in terms of the original layout.

When it comes to Mean Streak, I think within a few years we will see GCI doing some extensive work on it. Although I find it to be sort of boring, most of the public's complaint is with the roughness. As we saw with all the work they put in to save Son of Beast (even though it didn't work), they are willing to try and fix the problems. Mean Streak's structure seems just fine, and after all, it is nice to look at. I think it would be a good ride at full speed and GCI tracking/trains. Just think of how much more fun the first drop would be if the main thing on your mind wasn't "this is going to hurt, really bad."

But for 2010, I'm thinking flume, but involving something/element that nobody has thought of.

Yeah but the sad thing for Son Of Beast is this might be his last year.
