Millennium Force Breakdowns

I know this is early in the season and all, but how many times did Millennium Force break down on opening day? I was in one of them. Did anyone see the blue train stuck on the hill around the afternoon time? Well we were all stuck on the hill for about 35 minutes because I guess someone on the train loosend their safety belt. It was kind of weird being stuck on Millennium Force because it's unusual for that ride. Was anyone waiting for Millennium Force when this happend?

I was driving back to the point from eating, and the train was stuck there. I figured it didn't breakdown and somebody just got caught with their seatbelt unfastened.

No other breakdowns that I recall.

They were having proxy sensor problems on the lift.

Am I correct in thinking that the only way the ops can tell if someone loosens or removes their belts is by visual inspection only? So, if someone removes their belt on the lifthill, there is no sensor to stop the ride?

Well, whaddya know. There is a Candy Mountain.

That is correct.

From what the manager said when she came up the hill in the emergency cart, there are sensors in the belts, and when someone unfastens it, it messes up the computer system and knocks the ride out.

There can't be sensors on the belts that work on the lift hill. The train isn't connected to any type of computer interface on the lift, and I doubt the belts have any type of sensors at all, even in the station.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

She must have been making something up to us just to calm us down...lol. Bholcomb you mentioned they were having trouble with Proxy sensors? What exactly are those and how do they work on the lift hill?

I know that my friend's lapbar wasn't down far enough on Magnum and we got stuck on the lift hill because of it. He wasn't up to no good, he's just very tall with long legs. A ride host climbed up to our car and made him cross his ankles and get the bar down lower. He was VERY embarassed. ;)
Millennium Force doesn't have anything like that, or is it different since the lapbars are hydraulic?

MF doesn't (neither does magnum, it was prolly just a Ride Op catching it on the way out), but there should be. I guess the S:ROS's have a feature like that now where if the lap bar is too high the train cannot be dispatched. This is to prevent another accident like the one in New England. I think it would relieve many of the problems with the seat belts if they did this though.

No coasters at CP have any on board sensors for lapbars or seatbelts. When they stop you on the lift to fix a restraint, it's because the ride op at the front of the station caught it while the train was rolling out. From what I've heard, even the Superman rides that Joe E mentioned just have a visual indicator on the bar that shows the operators if it's down far enough. There's no electronic sensor.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Yeah, the control panel of Millennium Force doesn't show restraints, or seatbelts, or anything of the sort.

It just shows where the train is (Which Block), and some stats, and thats about it.

The proxies just let the computer know where the train is. So naturally, if one isn't working, the computer isn't going to know where the train is.

The operators on MF and Magnum visually spot belt problems on the way out. They can stop the train in either case, although in the case of Magnum, if the train is already out of the station they have to stop on the lift (because there obviously aren't any brakes between the station and lift).

What about the idiot who unfastend their belt to begin with? What where they thinking? Even if they didn't have any knowledge of CP or whats been going on with Intiamin rides, its common sense not to unfasten your belt.

Can't wait for 07 season!

I was waiting in line when this happened, I was so mad, my friends and I had been waiting for over an hour, we waited a bit, and decided to leave, since Millennium Force never breaks down, and if it does its big.

There was another breakdown right in the beginning of the day (opening day) also, but only for 5 mins. A lap bar was stuck on this rider and he wasn't able to get out. They did get him out eventually, but they closed off that seat. (Yellow Car, close to the center I believe). Other than the lift problem, I think that was it.

I saw it stop on the lift hill in 2003, a little more than halfway up. I don't know what happened, but it was almost time for the park to close, and there was a storm about to hit, so we left. When we got to the car, about 20 minutes later, I saw it inching very slowly up, and it eventually went over.

Remeber on the World's Largest Amusement Park how they showed the ride testing running with all the lap bars up. That proves there are now sensors on the trains. That is against procedure and Im CP let them put that on the show.

How does that prove there are sensors on the trains now? The show was done in 2001.
Secondly, there were no guests on the trains. I'm sure in the morning they leave them up because they don't feel like having to set them each time it runs through. Once guests start loading, they have to check every seat, so it makes sense to also push all lap bars down as well.
