I visted CP in early july and my back still hurts, does anyone else think that this ride is rearing close to retirment and just needs to be torn down and replaced with something bigger and better... more importanly smoother
NO! I love Mean Streak. You just have to know how and where to ride it.

bgcoasternut, you are such a negative person. you only have 5 posts here and within those posts you are complaining about MF and MS. whats your deal? i mean your name imply's that you love coasters but i just don't know with all your complaining.
I have a love/hate relationship with the Mean Streak. Sometimes I have a good ride on it and sometimes I don't.
I say burn it down and put an El Toro-esque ride in there. What a waste of land. Long, boring, no air.. almost as bad as The Villian at GL.

I agree with DBCP, you have to know when and where to ride it. On my days off I would ride it and find some seats to be very smooth.

I usually have a great experience on mean streak but I would mostly have to expect a rough ride on a woodie in any park but the thing is you can only hope any ride on any woodie would be a smooth ride. It just depends on the seating too though.
Yes you have to know the right seats to ride, the front car is my favorite to ride in.
Quote from a Corkscrew ride op, "And Dragster is down again"
If you dont like it dont ride it but dont complain and wish it was blown up when other people still love it.
Let's Get Weird.
Opening day this past year we sat in about the 3rd row from the back...and it was the best ride I had on MS since before trims. We got air...it maintained its speed...so we got off and rode it again...
and it was slow....no air....
its a different ride each time. To me, that is part of the fun of MS....you never know what youre going to get. Unlike MF, which (while amazing) feels exactly the same each time.
Promoter of fog.
Oddly enough, I've had my roughest ride ever in the second car from the front. The front car didn't seem to have a good time either. I watched the car convulse around the track and whip the riders around. Nonetheless, I love a ride that roughs you up.
I think Mean Streak is supposed to be an intense woodie, flying though the twists and turns and pulling some nice g's. However, it seems like the ride drags through its entirety. Of course, this is attributed to the trim brakes on the first hill. Turn those trims off, and you got a pretty good ride. Unfortunately, I've never rode MS with no trims, so I have to say Blue Streak is by far a better ride.
Hail to the Victors
My girlfriend had only ever ridden wooden coasters at CP and GL, and thought that all wood coasters were as horriable as mean streak. well, this fall I took her to kings island, and got her on the Beast. Her response.... they should tear down MS and put in a clone of Beast at CP. The beast is wood done right...MS is wood done wrong.

There are quite a few that are much "rougher" than Mean Streak...
