The stake with the red flag signifies electrical work(edit: looks like pink flag, which is temporary survery marking), the "RMC" stands for rigid metal conduit, and the triangle (assuming it has a dot in the middle) signals a traverse point, in this case traverse point #18, which is used to make further surveying easier.
Also noticed in pictures from another site there are painted markings for communications/conduit. These survey markings are usually only used for excavation purposes.
So yes, it appears some type of construction is being prepared for, but there's no proof it is an RMC.
Looking at the painted survey marks, there is no dot in either delta 14 or delta 15.
CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium
New Texas Giant is a great ride, and as such I am a believer in the RMC I-beam conversion concept. I think this would transform MS into one of top rides in the park. I'd be much more excited about this than the Mantis conversion. While I agree that CP sorely lacks good wood, I don't want to see MS sacrificed for this. I hope for both a MS RMC conversion and a good new woodie elsewhere in the park.
My absolute dream scenario, in the coming years, would be an RMC Mean Streak Conversion and the next coaster a GCI woodie where StR used to be. A GCI woodie would look great in the Frontier Trail. Make it happen CP!!!
Top 5: (1) Superman the Ride (2) Millennium Force (3) Maverick (4) Leviathan (5) Diamondback
Finally got to ride an RMC coaster this past weekend. While I know Goliath was built from scratch, I got an idea as to how great Mean Streak could be with RMC's help. Goliath was fricking awesome!
I wonder what an RMC'd MS would even be called. Meaner Streak?
Proud 5th Liner and CP fan since 1986.
They could just call it "Mean Streak". A refurb doesn't dictate a name change.
^I-Box is more than a refurb, you're practically building a brand new coaster on some of the old supports. (It's not an "entire" from-scratch new coaster, but it's more than a refurb.) And the name "Mean Streak" has been tainted so much that I think it shouldn't be used. I'd rather it be called "Iron Streak." Maybe a runaway train theme would be good - not a mine train, just a train. It would mesh well with the nearby train station and Boneville.

Investing several million dollars into a 25+ year old ride absolutely dictates a name change.

Agreed. Just like with Rougarou, any new investment into the ride will certainly be accompanied by a rebranding.
LeBron and CP worked together to create the benefits the park does for the LeBron James Family Foundation.
New Texas Gia... err... New Mean Streak.
New for 2024- Wicked Twister Plus
Does anyone know of any sites with pictures of markings or other pre-construction of the coasters that were given the RMC treatment? I did a brief search earlier today, but I could not locate any pictures.
It'd be interesting to compare some of the current markings with previous coasters that were re-done.
