i rode MS 6/18 and when the the the op said "Welcome back Mean Streak riders, how was your ride" People actually booed.
How would making a banked turn into a flat turn help? It seems to me that that would make it worse. I mean compare it to Daytona Speedway. If you replaced all the banked turns with flat turns you'd have a hell of a mess.
Kally, I've actually heard the opposite on it this year. In previous years, people just sat silent or gave ut a little "that sucked", but I've heard nothing but cheering this year.
Mean Streak is a far far better ride this year then in the past couple years. I have always enjoyed it but now more then ever.

It's the Best ride in the park IMO...I would rather ride MS all day than one ride on MF (call me crazy if you wish). The ride is not going anywhere, CP is not going to knock it down. While I agree the trims are painful, I think the ride is running a LOT SMOOTHER than it has in the past...hope to knock off a few laps after the DT80 on Tuesday ;)

Seriously olympic? I've always liked it, but wouldn't prefer it over our big millennium blue friend MF.

Yea...I love the MS...the big blue friend kick major a##...don't get me wrong, but the length of MS and the way it crosses under itself numerous times makes for a great ride for me at least..

Daytona is not made out of wood...if it was made out of wood it would of shaked itself apart due to the high bank turns. Im talking when you come off the first drop, you go straight up into a flat turn..thus, all the force is being put on the track going straight back up, not on the cornors. (picture the turn arounds on Gemini)
Thanks for the confidence, Eric ;)

MS is especially good after a good rain. Heck, its better IN the rain.
The first turn on Mean Streak (after the drop) isnt like the turns on Gemini. I dont see what you mean by calling them "flat" because they are kinda "swoopy", they go up and down, but they aren't banked that much. And they dont need to be banked too much because there is not enough lateral motion there to need banking, unlike on the areas that are banked, where the tighter radius of the turn and the speed makes it neccessary to bank the turns. Maybe Im just not seeing what you are trying to say, but "flattening" the turns doesnt make sense to me...

The problem with MS is that it is a boring ride - always has been. At least when it first opened it had the good first hill, but thats ruined with the brakes. The turnarounds are unexciting and the hills between the turnarounds are slow with no air time. I love wood coasters of all types, rough or smooth, but MS is just a bad layout.

RPMGuitar, you're absolutely correct! That's always been my only problem with it. It just isn't very thrilling. I wouldn't mind if it was awsome and still rough, as long as it had a good layout. Maybe they were trying to copy the Beast's sprawling air-timeless hills. But at least the Beast has speed and is a very thrilling ride
Yesterday, after it rained for a little while, it gave an awesome ride, and everyone cheered when we rolled into the station,

I was at the park during the rain yesterday (Thursday) and was tempted to try the Mean Streak again. Is it really that much faster with a wet track? I rode before the rain hit and the train just crawled over the second turn/hill. Every time I ride, I get off thinking what a good ride MS could have been.

Well I rode it last night after the rain too. Yes it seems to be a little faster but mostly I found it to be smoother. Overall a much better experience in the rain than on a bright sunny 90 degree day.

Ah, now we know the key to restoring MS... get the track wet! ;) I say they install little hoses all around the ride... keep it wet all the time... MS will have it's revenge! ;)

Steuks!!
I didnt say the turn on MS was the same as the ones on Gemini. Im saying they should be like the ones on Gemini. Either the turn on MS should go down..not up..or flatter like Gemini's turn.
It's a great ride...if Cedar Point was thinking about tearing it down...(doubt that will EVER happen)... have them call me..I'd love to have that baby in my back yard :) :)
