MEAN STREAK

After riding the mean streak half a dozen times, it didn't take me long to relize that it is a painful ride. What could be done to better this ride? Could we see this coaster being demolished?
I haven't riden it yet. But it seems there are more people that dislike it than there are that do like it. I feel comforted in the fact that even if it is destroyed because of unpopularity that won't happen this season. And I will atleast get to experience it myself this year.
I've ridden MS several times this season so far and I do not think it is at all painful. It is a very smooth ride this year.

MS is going no where... It's actually alot better this year than it's been in the past..

Secret is to stay in the first half of the train, preferably in the front seat of each car...

ohh yeah.. and stay away from the red train.. they seemed to have fixxed the green one finally earlier this season but the red still has a nasty jerk to it towards the middle..

To tell you the truth Adam, the first time I rode Mean Streak I had a terrible time and had a headache all day. Since then, I've never had a bad ride on it. Mean Streak is one of my favorite woodies.

MS is very good this year. It actualy has hints of airtime on it and is smoother. Whatever CP did to it over the winter, they should do more of it.

I agree it is great this year. It is somewhat bumpy, but it is less jerky than Magnum is in the back. The only thing that stinks about it is those damn trim brakes on the first drop!!

Just got back from my first Cedar Point trip for 2001!!!!!
What makes the red train so bumpy?
Ride in any seat you like but DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES ALLOW YOUR HEAD TO TOUCH THE HEADREST!!! I further recommend that you keep your entire back clear of the seat back if at all possible. Doing those two things will result in a much smoother-feeling ride than if you sit back in the seat.

One of these days the park will figure this out and take appropriate action......

I hope they keep it.

Everyone has their peeves with certain coasters - I don't find the Mean Streak to be too painful even though it is rough, but the Gemini gives me a terrible headache more often than not. But I'll still ride both of them! :)

Hi all!! Well first I would like to say that last night thanks to rain and no line I got to ride Mean Streak 13 times and felt no real discomfort at all. Yellow train was a little rough but if you take the previous advice about keeping away from the headrests you should be fine. What ever was done during the off season really helped out. Special thanks to the crew last night they were great as usual.
EEEEK!!! Kat hath said the name that is not to be uttered!!! We demand a sacrifice!!!!

Why would anyone want a smooth wooden roller coaster? If you like smooth then stick with the stealies.

The lateral movements are a bit annoying though.

I use to HATE mean streak until I found that if you lean foward a bit and hold on it is an awsome ride. This year it was incrediable we kept riding in in disbelieve at how smooth it is now all they ahve to do is remove the trims :-)

magnum or MF now that is a real question.... final anwser magnum
I wish it could be rough. That damn trim ruins it.
I used to like the Mean Steak, up until last year it gave me a really bad headache. I have nothing against woodies, I just can't understand why this one is so rough. I havent been to the point this year yet, hopefully everyone is right that the ride is a lot better this year. Whats the longest anyone's waited for the mean streak. EVerytime I go it's usually 15-20 minutes.
I went Thursday the 14th, and now I know what all you guys are talking about, the trims on the first drop! What a bummer, I was screaming "Brakes Suck" throughout the ride! I was in the front seat left of the green train and it wasnn't that rough for me, but my partner said that he would never ride it again, but I HATE! those stupid brakes on the first drop, and yes, they were moved down from last year, last year I didn't even know that it had brakes on the first drop! You start going down and your like this is awesome and then it happens. JERK! you feel the brakes tug on the train, and I didn't feel any airtime eithier, but it is still a great woodie!
