Maxair broken down???

It seems like every year its down towards the end of the season. I wouldnt doubt itll be torn down soon.

^Why would they tear down arguably the best flat ride in the park, one of the most popular flat rides in the park, and a flat with a fantastic capacity? Sure its having some problems this year but it wasn't last year (I rode the thing on the 2nd to last weekend.) Rides break down from time to time, but Maxair is one of the better additions CP has put in recently.

Why do some people have to jump ship just because a ride has problems? Every Ride has a problem at some point in their operation years. It's just like a car, you have to keep maintaining it otherwise you'll have problems. Maverick has had problems this year, because it's the first year for it. They have to get all the kinks out of a new ride. MaXair was introduced in 2005, so it wouldn't make sense to tear down a fairly new ride thats 2 years old.

Maxair is a great ride,Im sad that it wont be operating any more this year, its definutly one of my favorate rides,NO NO NO,Do Not Tear It Down.

While you're at it, knock down every ride that has downtime.

What if they had knocked down Magnum because it had problems it's first year, or TTD? Rides are mechanical things, just like cars, planes, etc., they all have downtime and they get fixed. Tearing down MaxAir is one of the craziest things I've heard lately...

They need to order a Swiss part for a German ride?

It always amazes me how so many things can be extrapolated just because a ride is not operating.

And i told them to use Chevy parts instead of Ford parts. Lol.

Well Jeff I own a Chevy Avalanche. It is owned by an American Manufacturer but all the parts are from Mexico so why couldnt a part come from Switzerland for a German owned company?

Because Maxair wasn't built on assembly line, for starters.

I was at the park this saturday and a ride host told me and my friends that Maxair's gearbox was grinding against another part of metal or something like that. He worked at Twister and said he watched them inspect Maxair and see what was wrong with it.

Rides are in no way any relation to automobiles, sheesh.

The parts have to come from the manufacturer that built it.

Ride on, MrScott!

My daughter and I were stuck on MaxAir for approximately 45 minutes opening week - 2007 -hydraulics stopped working and the floor would not come up. After leaving everyone stranded for half an hour, they finally released us one at a time. The staff reacted the best they could. It seemed like an eternity but then we heard about the Dollywood Timber Tower nightmare. At least we received a front of the line ride on MF. We love MaxAir - it is a fantastic ride, but it is too complex to be reliable. Skyhawk seems simpler and, in my opinion, scarier!

MaxAir is a bi-directional motor attached to an arm.

Skyhawk is a compressor connected to accumulators (the big tanks outside the arms) which are then attached to pulley's which pull the cables and make the arms swing.

I wouldn't consider Skyhawk to be simpler.

Goodbye MrScott

Skyhawk is essentially the same mechanism as Power Tower, the problem being that the tubes are at an angle causing unwanted friction. Nobody wants excess friction. :)

And I thought the floor on maXair was pneumatic and not hydraulic. Maybe I'm thinking of Delirium and it was changed.

Maxair's floor sure sounds like it's pneumatic.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

It's pneumatic... Of course I can only assume this ;)

Pneumatics vs. hydraulics.....well, let's see, they both power two fabulous rides.

I believe the floor of maXair is pneumatic, but I know for sure that the actual ride unit (the arm, gondola, and motor(s) uses hydraulic systems. If I recall, it was partly because of a hydraulics problem in the motor/electrical room that caused the fire(s) in there during the latter part of '05, including the one that had it down for about half of October.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Are you Sure about that?

The Floor is entirely pneumatic, as are the harnesses..As for the Hub, Im fairly certain there is no hydraulics involved. Maybe someone on the crew knows what they are talking about and can back me up, cause what do I know im just some random person who like any one of us, thinks they know what is going on ;)
