Actually there was some activity today, they had about 4 or 5 maintenance people working at the top for a while.
I ride MaXair alot, and in the last couple weeks I was wondering if it was going to suffer a breakdown. It seemed to shudder alot more than it used to when it switched direction, and there was even some minor vibration when it was swinging that I didn't notice before. It seemed to me like whatever drives it was wearing a bit.
Hopefully it will be fixed soon, it's a great ride.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

In my opinion De-hinged means something on top of the gondolum came loose and causing the ride to be down.
Hmm gondolum, I like that. Call up Websters, see if you can get that into the dictionary. It has a ring to it! ;)
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I noticed that too at some point this season. It was so obvious to me on some rides that it kept me from enjoying it a bit.
Of course, it didn't keep me from getting back on the next time! There are worse ways to go...
Delirium at Kings Island shudders a whole lot at the very top of each swing. That ride even has some kind of vibration going on at the bottom of each swing.
I never had a chance to post anything about how extremely dissatisfied I was when I visiting Kings Island. I paid ZERO dollars for admission/parking, no lines, yet I had a bad time.

From what I understand, there are some issues with the gearing or something in that area with the Giant Frisbees. You may recall at the end of last year, or maybe it was the year before, both of them in Ohio were closed for the end of the year, and I know that was a mandate from Huss.

Found that on Wednesday as well. Considering it was making some movements I didn't think it should've been, I was a little apprehensive.
I was talking to Cedar Point about the 2008 Passes and the maXair, and lady said that it should start up again before the park closes up this season.
Anyone heard anything else?? I'm going on the 21st of this month, and I haven't been since May. Maxair is one of my favorite rides and I would hate to have to wait until next May to ride again.
I was there August 31 and i was looking forward to riding maXair. I was so disapointed!

From what I understood the part was in the vicinity of $750k and it will not be operational until '08.
Just hearsay though.

It is not running because a hinge had broke off and they need to order a part from switzerland and most likely wont come by the time the 2007 season is still in session. So we will just have to wait til next year to ride it. :( *** Edited 9/16/2007 3:27:19 PM UTC by Jerreus***

It broke down the day after my girlfriend I left. It was running fine when we rode it...it didn't feel odd.
I wonder how they realize the ride is broke. Just look for falling metal?

Or ride-ops that know their job and their ride very well and hear brakes hissing that maintenance has a hard time hearing. You would be surprised how sensitive you can get to the little details of a ride after you work on it long enough. If a brake isn't grabbing right or is late, we'll catch it on the test ride or just watching it. If the night shift didn't catch it, then a ride-op did. *** Edited 9/16/2007 9:56:24 PM UTC by BlueStreak64***

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
