What about an S&S 4D coaster, I thought about it a bit, and it may make sense if they can get it to run half the time.I see what you guys are saying about a Flying coaster, but I still don't see it happening, I've heard some really bad things about them. It'll all depend on how Tatsu works out, if it works like a charm, CP might consider getting one, if it runs like crap(which is how everything is run at SFMM) then CP might reconsider...
Whatever they put back there, still has to fit in and look good. I'm going to stop speculating and just accept what CP will offer.
A S&S 4D would be neat. But how you're talking about CP waiting to see how Tatsu works out is very unlikely since CP has probably made the choice as to what's going in the WWL site. From all the rumors and tiiinnnyyy comments CP has said about the WWL site, the choice has been made. We just need to grip it and wait(speculating along the way) in extreme anticipation as to what's coming.
But it seems 2007 is going to be a great year for us fans.

TTD4Life, I respectfully disagree with your comment about the floorless possibility.
I mostly agree that the front seat is the only real effect seat and they aren't too special overall, but the general public won't necessarily. The park is in the business of entertaining the most people possible, and a lot of people have never really seen a ride like that. Take into consideration the fact that CP really does not have your "basic sit-down looper" (aside from Corkscrew which, well, I think I've said enough and Raptor which is really more of a conceptual ride (underneath the track)), I think a floorless might not be enjoyable to a lot of us diehard fanatics, but would be a huge hit with most of the general public, and a great asset to their inversion count, coaster count, and diversity of rides.
I agree with Grovite... I'd love to see a floorless at the park.
Using the argument that the "front seat is the best view" on a floorless is moot. Same goes for a stand-up, and inverts... but that hasn't stopped us from recieving Mantis and Raptor.
I actually really enjoy the back seat on Dominator. That airtime coming off the mid-course is fantastic. I'd really like to see a beefed-up version of Dominator at CP, with a hint or two of Hydra thrown in for good measure *cough*jojoroll*cough*.
My vote's been cast on a sit-down looper of some sort... floorless or otherwise. I don't see this as being a flyer (as I pointed out in the "Maverick Creates A Buzz" thread).

The reason is that the human body can't really take even a moderate G turn laying on its chest. So all elements are so over sized to eliminate the G forces eliminating some of the "quickness" or "excitement" that can be done while a person is sitting. Imagine taking some of the turns of Mantis while laying on your chest. It would freaking hurt.

What if CP gets dueling speed racers like TTD? But i dont think that CP will get a B&M. Were going to be looking higher up in the sky. Like the news from last weekend "The skys th limit". What do you think now you smart little kids?
Bring back Boblo!
With this new 4D popping up in Japan, it really gives me hope for one to come to CP.
I'll be happy with whatever it is. Cedar Point already has enough for me to enjoy being there for a week...I wish I could stay that long. If they put in anything, I'll be happy.
Well, as long as it's not an Intamin Rocket.

I think that you haven't thought your argument through at all..
First of all, I think getting another hydraulic launcher would be as bad of a business decision as exchanging a one day ticket for a season pass. They already have it. They've already built one that blows people's minds, why would they build another? Parks do not invest in redundencies.
Secondly, the POINT of building Dragster was the height and speed records. Dragster has been a maintenance nightmare and KK hasn't proven any better. Why would a park VOLUNTARILY build ANOTHER one that is taller and faster after Intamin has gone 0-2 on delivering? The sky is not the limit when you don't have a reliable design.
Thirdly, as I stated earlier, building a traditional ride taller and faster would take up so much space and run so huge in proportion sizes for every single turn and element that it would hardly be cost efficient. It would take so much land to build, I just cannot see them wasting that kind of space or money when they could get 2-3 rides for that. *** Edited 2/4/2006 4:43:43 PM UTC by Grovite18***
im thinking they are bringing back the shooting gallery for a retro theme and calling it maverick and we arent getting a coaster all(sarcasm)..ha ha ha it will be the worlds largest and tallest.. so theycan addmsome new records

If they got the Tallest floorless Coaster, it would have to be over 170 feet tall, which would look horribly out of place in the back of the park in my opinion.
However, if they get a 4D Coaster, it would have to be over 200 feet, which may look even more out of place...
Now I'm really confused...

Did anyone notice the post on OnPoint! today, dealing with the trademark. They hinted it wasn't that big of a deal, and not to worry about it, but that can be read both ways right?

I'm not sure why people are so concerned with fitting in? I don't mean to beat a dead subject to death, but it's not a theme park. For me I am looking for thrills. Sure the theming is nice, and it's nice to be in a cool atmosphere, but that's not really why I go to Cedar Point. Cedar Point is known for their coasters, and record breaking rides and record breaking thrills. It's hard to put a record breaking ride (400-600ft) anywhere and have it "fit in." And for the few of you that complain about the trees, what would you rather have? A group of trees? or a 500ft coaster? (It's a hypothetical question) I just want Cedar Point to put in a ride that will give me the best thrill, or something different. I don't care how out of place it looks (although I am sure they'll try their best to make it look in place) even if it is 600 ft. tall. I don't mean to jump on anyone and I'm sorry if you feel that way, but that's just how I look at it Go for the thrill!!!
Arms down, head back, and hold on.....
Yes Cedar Point is known for it's thrills and many of us love record breaking coasters but, Cedar Point is also known for it's atmosphere. Killing all the trees would ruin it. Besides Maintenance, atmosphere is what seperates it from a park like Magic Mountain.
I understand I'm not saying cut down all the trees and everything and put it in all 600 ft rides, but I would sacrifice some trees, for a new thrill. As Cedar Point is definitely known for their atmosphere when someone is going to Cedar Point for the first time, they're told about all the rides and thrills not atmosphere. This is just my thinking, but people around the country (if they even know about Cedar Point) knows it for the thrills and rides.

To me, I think the name "Maverick" would probably point to a floorless coaster. I also agree with everyone who says that CP is not putting in another rocket coaster. Why would they put a coaster in that they already have?
Has anyone looked at Walt's tribute to WWL? Check out the pictures of WWL when it was constructed vs. what it looked like in it's last few seasons. The trees grew probably 40 feet over the years and the area grew from a largely open area to an area completely surrounded in trees. The trees completely changed the ride experience over the course of those years.
Although I think Cedar Point should preserve as many trees as possible (think about Holiday World changing the course of Legend just to save a tree), but at the same time you have to remember that trees will grow back. The back half of the park is largely grass, trees, and water instead of the concrete and buildings in the front of the park. As long as those areas do not turn to concrete there is a very good chance that trees and grass will once again grow around the new rides in that area.

Interesting thread for sure, and certainly a topic to start getting excited about.
When I think of a ride "fitting" in, the potential location, along with the fact you enter the park from one side only - it appears to me a monster (taller) ride behind TTD would make a lot of sense. Looking at the park from the parking lot, the right hand side has two 200 footers, the left has one 300 and the middle has TTD at 420. The ride location of left back leads me to think a 300+ foot ride is possible.
Maverick and Frontier Town is also a perfect fit imo.
Regarding the ride itself, my money is on a floorless. For years, people have talked about how CP needs a new looper, and due it's simplicity (vs flyer, dive, or 4D) I thinks that's what's going to get installed.

Dosen't Knotts also have a westren themed area?
