Current Cedar Fair management is much more conservative and cautious with their money, decisions and investments. If you can't see the difference in the last 6 years to the previous 30, you're purposefully ignoring it and probably wishing for a 700' Aquatrax RMC Under Lake Erie Diving Loop Coaster.

I'd ride that, and I don't see the problem with it.
I don't buy that Cedar Fair won't test anything new at Cedar Point. Valravn was clearly a first, Gatekeeper was a first. I think Maverick was with CF which was a first. They did a Stand Up to Floorless conversion. if anything id say they like to use Cedar Point as a testing ground. Plus they can safely say that RMC is a reliable company based on all of the other ones in the US (LR doesnt count because RMC didnt do the launch)
SV ruins all other rides.
Along with the major announcement, does anyone think they'll make an announcement regarding Halloweekends considering it's the 20th anniversary this year?
I also want to present my logic as to why so many are hoping for RMC Mean Streak. I don't think it's simply a fanboy wish.
Cedar Point is supposed to be "The Roller Coaster Capital of the World". They are already late to the party with RMC. They have a coaster that may as well have a huge neon sign on top of it saying "RMC ME!!!".
It's such an obvious move, and to think management would be considering GCI or any other type of coaster next is just strange. If Cedar Point really wants to lead the pack, RMC is simply the most logical company they could go with.

It floors me as to how many people feel Cedar Point "owes" it to us to do an RMC overhaul on Mean Streak. The park is perfectly fine without it, and if they decide to do nothing to Mean Streak for another ten years, I respect that is a decision they will make. The assumptions and "facts" being thrown around here like gospel regarding the certainty of this transformation is really getting old.
They don't owe us anything. They are in the roller coaster business. They claim to be the roller coaster capital of the world with the biggest baddest best roller coasters. They wIll continue adding more roller coasters over the years. RMC is now making the best roller coasters. Common sense dude, 1 + 1 = 2, Cedar Point + RMC = the best. I'm sure management is aware of this, not because it would please enthusiasts, but because it's a smart business decision.
They don't owe it to us. They owe it to Mean Streak for putting up with all of the crap so many give it on a daily basis. And I agree about the neon sign comment. GCI seems unlogical to me but I fear that that is what it's going to be.
2018- Raptor
CP Top 5- 1)MF 2) Maverick 3) Gatekeeper 4) Top Thrill Dragster 5) Raptor
In case you missed it- the last few coasters have been very safe- not the biggest, baddest, tallest, fastest of the prior managements term.

Huh? Wasn't Gatekeeper touted as the biggest, baddest, tallest, fastest wing coaster? And Valravn the biggest, baddest, tallest, fastest dive coaster?
Yes a second and third record breaking B&M Immelmann loop in one park 🙄
Those two coasters are the epitome of safe bet.
Which, by the way, was exactly what the park needed.

This. The Cedar Point I love is innovative. Valravn and Gatekeeper are great rides that helped spruce up the park. RMC is doing the most innovative thing with coasters since Intamin. Why would the best amusement park in the world NOT jump on that bandwagon. It would please the GP and enthusiasts. RMC is a win win.

I also love the innovative CP.
MF, TTD, Maverick really define the park in a lot of ways. I'm really hoping they have some great new rides in the future for us, that will be category defining.
RMC could do a great job on MS I'm sure.
I also think the park has other areas that are more pressing and can bring greater revenue to the company than refurbished Wooden coaster at this time. I think it will be done, but a question of when.

The announcement is being made via Twitter and other online outlets. If a Soak City expansion (and perhaps a "more to come" teaser) is going to somehow damage your psyche, I would begin tempering the enthusiasm yesterday. No new coaster at Cedar Point comes without some type of big time hoopla (is that a word?) involving the media.
Now, I suppose you could argue that Rougarou was technically announced without any fanfare, and that it was a conversion, but I would have to think that an entire overhaul of Mean Streak (if that is even in the cards) would be considered something bigger than just converting the types of trains.
No one is 100% certain that anything is even happening to Mean Streak in the very near future, although I would certainly place my money on it.
From my perspective, overhauling Mean Streak would be big enough to pull in teasers from the media and some type of in-park announcement, but what do I know?
Then there's the wild card. What about the statement made awhile back that every Cedar Fair park is getting a dark ride of some type? We have heard nothing in this regard since the Iron Reef over at Knotts. Would this be big enough for an in-park announcement? Well, we don't really know, since Cedar Point has not installed one since 1898.
If I had to place my bets, I would say this announcement will be about a Soak City expansion of some type. There are the countless marking around Breakers combined with the removal of a lot of Challenge Park, plus an online announcement.
The variables at play would be the Shoot the Rapids area being surprisingly gutted, the dark ride promise (to be fulfilled when?), and what if anything, is being done to Mean Streak.
Promoter of fog.
Don't forget that it could just be an announcement for the closure of a ride as well. They might not even announce an addition. This seems extremely similar to how they announced the closure of Mantis. This just doesn't seem like a very CP way of announcing an addition even if it is just a Soak City expansion.

Yeah I'm thinking this is an invitation to realign your spine one final time on Mean Streak before it closes. The announcement of Meaner Streak will come later.
