These boards have been getting really family-unfriendly lately.
Dude... just kiddin'.
So, from an old timer who didn't have to go into town to drink (we got cheap beer in the Rec Center), where is Louie's?
Right past the EVC lot, on River. Go past McDonald's a little and it's right there.
Wait....beer in the rec center? When did you work there?

74-77. The Rec Center was by the Gold Dorms at that time and the 3.2% drinking age was still 18. 3.2 was the only kind of beer we sold in the park at that time.
Tom
Ha, those must have been the good ole days. Didn't they change it from 18 to 21 in 79?

the age change happened during the reagan administration. i believe around 1986 or 87. reagan put the gun to the states heads and said if you don't up the drinking age, you don't get federal highway funds.

Do you have to work at CP to get into Louies or can anyone go there ? For some reason I think that you needed a membership or something to get in there. I'm visiting in a couple of weeks and I wanted to check out louies one night.
You also have be 19 to get in.

It's pathetic, I live in Chicago, and there's nothing I want to do more on my birthday than go to Louies and have a Futhermucker. I didnt go to Louies a lot during the season, but my visits increased near the end of my contract, and I went on the night my contract ended and got completely trashed, and I was like, woohooo I get my bonus no matter what! The sups thought it was funny.
Best thing about Louies 2005- Futhermuckers and mudslide shots, licking off the "no" stamps and having your friends hold your Corona when the bouncer came around, sitting on top of the picnic tables singing along to the music rotation, Getting your cameras developed and seeing pictures of Louies, but not remembering when you took them, tipsy kisses, compliments from people you'll never see again (ar at least wont remember their faces), The memories!
Worst thing about Louies 2005- My first time going, the bouncer only let my 18-year old self in after he tried to stick a vibrator up my skirt! The nasty bathrooms, waiting 20 Minutes for a futhemucker or Long Island, the unbearable crowd, the walk back to commons!
