Hi everyone! I am a college student interested in working for Cedar Point during the Summer of 2013. This would be my first job. I have several questions that I hope someone can answer. How should I follow up with Cedar Point after completing my application? How and when will I be assigned an interview date? What are the chances of me getting a position as a ride host? Also, please give me any other advice that will help with the hiring process. Thanks!
Whoever checked your app, like mines was John Hiller, I waited 7 days, he cheked my app on the 23rd and I send him a email on the 30th.
Here is what to do, email your hiring manager 7 days after he/she checked your app regarding a update on your app.

Just keep an eye on your application / email, hiring managers are shifting through thousands of applications so don't be discouraged if you don't hear back right away, they're swamped with interviews upon interviews.
You'll be contacted via email to either email them back to set up a time, or they'll give you a phone number to call. I received my email my first year and then was hired the next day.
Ride Operations is an extremely large department, so I would assume your chances are pretty high. Each ride/crew has anywhere from 10-30 people during peak season. But don't get discouraged if you don't get assigned to a "big" ride your first year. It can happen, my first year I was contracted to Millennium Force, but really, it's the crew that will make your summer amazing and not your ride.
As far as advice goes, just be yourself during the interview. Don't be afraid to show your excitement at the possibility of working in the park.
Cheers! Feel free to message me if you have any other questions.

Thank you! I check both twice a day. Debra Reinauer reviewed my application yesterday. I was going to call human resources to follow up with my application and get her email so I can follow up with her too or one of the hiring managers. I am a pretty outgoing person so I think I will do great if I get called up for an interview. Eventually, I want to be an engineer for Cedar Point I just want to get as much experience with the park as possible and work during the summers. I would love to work Millenium Force it's by far the best ride at CedarPoint!

Debra is the Rides Manager for area 1, which is Gatekeeper, Raptor, Blue Streak, Wicked Twister, Sky Ride, Cads/Cedar Downs, Turnpikes/Calypso, maXair, Planet Snoopy and Kiddy Kingdom. I personally would give her a few days and if you don't hear from her, shoot her an email.

Alright, say if you are have already been hired at Cedar Point, (in January) but you have been offered another job before the season has started. How do some of you handle the situation with the job you have around the time when you're about process in to Cedar Point? Do you let them know you've been contracted to work for another company in May or just put in a two weeks notice?
I really want to work back at Cedar Point for a second season, but I just don't want be unemployed back in September.
Hi everyone! I submitted my application this past monday to be a ride host. The area 1 hiring manager reviewed it on tuesday. To follow up, I called her yesterday and left her a voicemail thanking her for viewing my application and I restated my interest in the position. Also, I emailed the full time manager Karah Folk and basically said the same thing and asked about internship possibilities at Cedar Point. I think I followed up well, but how long should I wait for a response before I contact them back? Any other advice that can help me get an interview would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
I would continue checking my email and checking my application status. It's the weekend during the off season, so I don't think you'll be hearing anything back today or tomorrow.
@ MillenniumDragster
That happened to me last season, and I submitted a two weeks at the proper time and just asked for leave over the summer. They said it was fine. I didnt actually end up going back to that job though, lol.

Hey guys I just found out today that I got a phone interview. What should I expect? What kinds of questions are asked? I heard it was pretty laid back and generally talked about behavioral stuff.

She'll pretty much just ask questions like, "tell me about a time when..." you know, basic interview questions. She'll also ask about your preferences if you want to work fast/slow paced, with kids/adults and if you're afraid of heights. And she'll also explain what's expected of you, and give you this entirely too long list of things that you must be able to perform.

I think Steeve Voorhees is doing my interview since he is the one that emailed me. Yeah that's what I have heard. I have been reading about people having skype interviews too. Will I have to do one of those after the phone screening? I don't have skype or a webcam and I live almost 11 hours away from Cedar Point.

Yeah, you'll probably be interviewing for area 3 rides (Maverick, Mean Streak, Thunder Canyon, Snake River Falls, Shoot the Rapids, Antique Cars/Wave Swinger, Gemini, Gemini Children's Area and Camp Snoopy). I don't really know how the Skype interview works, because they've only started doing it this year.

Hey guys my phone screening went great! I was only asked four questions. I have a skype interview next Wednesday at 1:30. Did anyone notice a difference between the phone screening and skype interview? Please decribe some differences. Steve Voorhees is doing my skype interview too, so please let me know what to expect. Thanks Again!
