Poor Cedar Point can't catch a break! Last year it was the burst pipeline, this year it's the horrible weather. Almost a year apart too.

That's crazy. Not so great for the bottom line this year, but crazy.

Just as an aside, but from reading here and on Coasterbuzz, from talking to friends here and there, and from my own experiences it seems like parks in general aren't very busy this year. In trip reports from places like Hershey, Compounce, Carowinds, Cedar Point, and Kings Island there's been more than several mentions of low crowds, walk-on conditions on many rides, etc. A good friend just came back from CoasterCon in New Jersey and he reported medium crowds at best, both at SF and Moreys.
Now, maybe these reports come from weekday visits, but summer vacation season is in full swing. And I'm sure the typical good-weather Saturday is still rockin', but I'm sensing an overall trend. Not that I'm complaining, but am I mistaken?
I wonder If it has to do with people being effected by the budget cuts, or losing their jobs because of layoffs. It seems like every year before the season starts, someone's company does these acts and it makes it harder for families to do things when that happens, that's my guess.
I don't think it's unemployment. The rate went up last month, likely because more people entered the workforce, but more jobs were added than eliminated. It ain't the economy, it's a combination of weather and the fact that it isn't July yet.

I wasn't in Kings Island today but drove past it at 11:00 am and 7:00 pm. Parking lot was pretty full.
It was a bit of a crowd today. 1.5 hour waits on MF and Maverick. I think the bad weather yesterday contributed to the higher than average crowd level for today. Perfect weather day today. I arrived at noon, encountered rain and was cloudy most of the way up, but as soon as we got to the park, the sun came out.

Wow, that water level is crazy! Usually, there's a decent gap between he top of the pier and the water level, but wow..
Look how high the water was in the lagoon yesterday. An employee at Rougarou said it overflowed into the queues on Saturday.

Here are some links to pictures of the beach and marina on Saturday. When the photo appears, click on it for a full size image. I'll have a video of the beach on YouTube sometime today or tomorrow.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
