Launch Warning?

I believe Cedar Point's website says within 5mph in the tunnel before it launches.

You won't get a link here because, if its the one the I've heard mentioned before, it was taken by a construction worker without authorization.

I'm sure if you search youtube you can find it though.

TTD warning is sit back and hold on then wait till the tree goes green.

I always thought it was the train rolls out of the station, the first set of lights on the christmas tree turn on reading "Pre-Stage", the train gets about halfway out and the next set of lights turn on and an announcement is given (Keep arms down, head back, and hold on!), engine roars, a few moments later the kicker wheels go down, the train rolls slowly back into the catchcar, the brakes then go down making a loud hissing noise, the christmas tree lights up quickly (yellow, yellow, yellow, green), screeching tire sound effect blast out, and the train rockets down the track.

I know, I know, to much information, but that's the best part of the ride and you explained it in one sentence. It needed more detail. :)

Adam would agree.

The only thing you missed was the 3 seconds between the rollback and the commence of the countdown.:)

LSM launches are quiet. LIM Launches are loud. Induction motors can be noisy.

As for the horns...
Force has a buzzer for the unload station
Raptor has the B-Bal buzzer for starting up.
My car has a horn for telling people to move out the way or to go at a green light.

That's all I can recall.

If I remember properly Mean Streak has some sort of alarm when the Chain Lift is getting ready to turn on...

This was the closest thread I could find to the tunnel, so that's why I'm bring it back from the dead.

Did anyone else notice it looks like they've painted the interior of the tunnel black? I caught black over spray on the new FunCoast photos that leads me to believe they sprayed it black. That will be cool to cut down on any sunlight that may make its way in there.

Check the third to last photo.

Looks like shadows to me unless I am looking at the wrong picture.

It looks like it's just the reflection of the track on the metal. You can see a bit of red in it and the white outlines, which are reflecting the tubing.

I think you guys are looking at a different part of the image. Check where the support posts puncture the tunnel roof. You can clearly see black over spray on the posts. Either that or there is some really funked up shadows going on. LOL!!

I didn't see that before, I think your right.

Could be the surprise that they never told us about.

I wouldn't be suprised at all if they painted the supports black so they are harder to see. A little overspray is normal if your not careful.

It would be really neat if they had an animation while you wait to be launch. I won't hold my breath though.

I just got back from getting my pass and that horn when the ride went was still on and there were no construction workers.

Ride On

I just got my pass today as well! I saw Maverick's trains being launched and heard that horn as well.

I know that the park is more noisy when guests are there, so that may be why I have never really noticed the horns and buzzers on millennium, raptor and/or mean streak; however, maverick has an unusually loud horn. I was slowed down on the road, trying to snap some shots and I actually thought it was a car honking behind me to move!

Mean Streak does have a horn that sounds when the lift is started. It's a "security" thing. Its a good idea. The only time you will hear it is in the morning, or after the ride goes back up after down time for whatever reason. As far as the other rides, I don't know, even though I did work in the park. I'm thinking that the horn is sounding (or was) sounding due to the fact that maint. Could be in and out of that location during the day whether they were in the area at the time or not.

I watched it cycle for about a half hour today and it sounded on every launch.
You right, its incredibly loud.

Sort of weird to see it launched out of the tunnel and immediately see the fins slow it down at the top of launch hill. (May just be testing and not permanent.)

I think it could be theming, but they would have to lower the volume on it, so maybe not.

Hey all I'm starting to post again after about a year of not posting.. But I have an idea.

We all know that the coaster needs to be synchronized in order to create a quasi-duelling effect. Therefore, the horn could be used as a signal to tell the ride operators when to dispatch the next train?
