So, out of 4 Windseekers, none of them are going to be ready in time for the park openings?! Cedar Point's is our only hope
Even if Windseeker is not ready, you will still have the very cool Peanuts character bushes to look at next to the toll boths in the parking lot. Those are WAY cool!
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Same goes for my first visit of the year. (Now, it's gonna be delayed too!)
Given the wasted time in the fall of 2010 (very little accumplished), the typical construction method of make a mess and leave for a few days (Christmas Tree = Orange Road Barrels), and who knows what else is yet to cause problems (i.e. last year's WWL issue with boat length) - I don't think we will see any reliable uptime until at least June/July.
I am guessing there will also be a lot of down time on Windpasser due to weather conditions at 300 feet next to a very big lake. Even more so than a coaster - because the passenger is much more exposed to the elements.
by WWL, do you mean STR? It's not gonna take that long for them to open the ride in June/July. That is pretty far out there. If anything, it won't be open until the second week of operation IMO. That is, if all mechanical/engineering factors play a good role.
^lol windpasser?
thats just extraordinary that all 4 of them will (possibly be) delayed.
even KBF, with their nicer weather and such.
But.....on the other hand, when CP built TTD, MF, and all the big coasters, those were opened in time. And they are much more complex than windseeker.......:)
They also started construction on most of said big coasters before the dreaded off-season.

The problem they are having at CP with WS is the weather elements for one. The wind and the rain we had through April. Also another thing that they didn't think of when they were building it was the sand. From what I was told is that it delayed the painting process. The building that will house the power for WS finally got some electrical in it yesterday. They are finishing up OM and it will be ready for opening weekend.
Oh and also Pinks is finshed and ready to serve!

What painting process? As I understand it, all the ride components were painted before being shipped.

I was told that some of the delays were due to the fact that painting WS near the sand was a problem.
The guy I talked to from All Phase Power(who is the Electrical contractor) said that the major issues were high winds and sand. If there is anything else he didn't say. I know people will be skeptical because I am saying some guy told me but oh well.
I don't know everything that is going on with WS but I thought I would just pass along some information on what I was told.

KI announced two alternate rides for ert this weekend. Still not ready, I guess. Better safe than sorry. Still haven't seen it move up and down yet but I haven't been glued to the webcam, either. I'm anxious to see it in the air at night all lit up.

If KI is having some kind of problems with testing, I doubt CPs will be ready in time. Theres still just soo much that has to get done. Oh well, here's to hoping it's ready by memorial day.

I can't see the ride opening on time, with the delay at KI still ongoing and the seats not on our ride with only 9 days to go. Who knows, maybe it will, but if StR has taught us all anything, lets just hope it's a delay we're talking about, and that when this bad boy opens up it doesn't have many other issues and is up and running great the rest of the season. I'll take a 2 or 3 week delay over long term problems.
^^I thought the same...hoping that they could learn from KI's problems with the build. Seems to be at the same pace as KI but all I know is from a webcam refresh every now and again. CP looks like they'll have some better weather for the rest of their construction and testing, though. I could see them pulling it off in CP. But either way I'll be there on the 19th and 20th of May. It wasn't in operation in Oct when I was there and I was still glad to be there.

Better weather? Starting tomorrow it's supposed to rain for the next 5 days.
I am with Kyle though. I will take a delay now and not later.

30% chance of scattered showers is better weather compared the flooding last week. Just trying to have hope.

Sure they have had some crappy weather, but checking out the webcam every day, there has been plenty of nice days where no work was done.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
As well as possibly getting other components set up for quicker instillation (like the control boxes and whatnot on the gondola carriage). There's a few things that crossed my mind today regarding our WS and the opening. I'm wondering if they're planning on waiting for everything to be done with the LED strips on the current arms and the wiring in the tower till they connect the seats. That way when the wiring is all done and they can close that gap of missing arms they can start adding seats in an order while the missing gap arms are attached and the LED strips are added.
The reason why I thought this is because when KI started adding their seats, they had just started adding LED strips and had to wait till the gap was finished to add the remaining seats. Of course this is only a guess as to if this was a suggestion from KI's crew for some kind of quicker means of installation. Guess we'll just find out tomorrow and Saturday. That is IF they work Saturday due to mothers day Sunday.
Also, it's kinda funny that the hatch to the tower is on the opposite side of the tower away from our view. Makes it hard to tell how far into the tower wiring they are. I do see those large spools so maybe they only started on it today.
