July 29 Update

Launched or lift hill.... what do you guys think?

Or, we could have the best of both worlds (which I think is what we have), an LIM or LSM launched hill which then goes into inversions or overbanked turns or something to pull some major G-forces.

Also, the pieces of track that are on site look like they are for a drop of some sort, but there aren't many supports on site which could be for a drop, which is somewhat odd since the track on site would want to be put up on supports as soon as possible to clear more room. This coaster just gets odder and odder every day.

To me, it fits every clue

Whoever said they were clues as to what the ride will be? Like I've said before, maybee they are just signs to get people excited.

Put two and two together also gets you the number of seats in a standard Intamin 4 seater car. Put two and two together is also a phrase used a lot as an example of putting together evidence. Put two and two together could mean "hey, we are building something, we are not giving any hints out, you figure it out based on what you see"

And people who assume the name Maverick means anything as to what the ride will be....I fail to see that. What does Magnum have anything to do with what the ride is like? What does Mantis have anything to do with what the ride is like? What does Steel Phantom have anything to do with what that ride was like? Sometimes things ARE named something because the name itself just sounds cool...

Well to me putting 2 and 2 together just means we'll see something in this coaster that we havent seen like a launch Lift Hill. I don't think Intamin has ever gone this route before with that kind of launch. So that equals the whole new direction for Cedar Point. This ride could very well still be named Maverick. Does anyone remember when Dragster was being built, we saw the label on shipments that said Dragster? So It makes sence that this new coaster will be named Maverick.

Actually, I think it will be done because it IS a proven design and not something new, California Screamin has an LIM launched hill and Intamin has had success with LIMs and LSMs on their rides and haven't had as many problems as the hydraulic launch which has many more problems.

^^ I'm confused, someone has seen the name Maverick on something for P2k7? Other than the patent request. That could be for a ride 2 or 3 years from now, or for nothing at all. Maybe they just liked the name and figured they better pick it up before someone else does.

How exactly does it make "sense" that the ride will be named Maverick basing it off of a patent request?

Ride on, MrScott!

I dont think "Maverick" has ever been confirmed in sight, only as a registered name. No packaging or any kind of actual 2007 materials have been labeled that way. The only reason the rumor exists is because Cedar Fair registered the name for merchandising.

Still, "2 and 2 together" equals 4, so unless we're seeing 4 new things, I am still firmly planted in believing it's just a marketing thing and holds no actual weight or insight to the ride itself. I just think that we all need to stop and take a breath before we disappoint outselves.

Well, I could be wrong, but I thought about a year ago someone found the patent request for "Patriot" in the same manor and it ended up being the B&M inverted coaster at Worlds of Fun.

Correct. It seems logical that Maverick will at the very least be associated with the official name somehow, especially since it fits the theme of the area fairly well. But, as Grovite18 mentioned, this is all just speculation.

Promoter of fog.

Companies don't take out patents on names unless they have a use (or potential use) for it. Of all the "evidence" we have so far, I think its WAY more logical to say Maverick is the name of the coaster than it is to say how tall it is or if its going to be launched or not.

I agree, halltd.

Plus, that rhymes, which is awesome.

^ Do you have something to say along with that picture? Any particular point for showing that?

Maybe he's trying to say that he thinks Maverick will have a loop involved in this coaster. :)

I was just at cedar point yesterday and would like to report something new.

More supports are up, they run along either side of the supposed launch/brake run and are about 30-40 feet tall. Has anyone seen these supports?

Did you take pictures?

I did not take pictures. And that's why I asked if anyone saw them. Since I don't have proof they might. You don't have to believe me because I know that once there is an update, you will have proof.

I dont think he was doubting you, I think he just wanted to see the update.

I am not saying that he doubted me, I meant that someone might have an update that I don't have.

Where are the updates when you need them. ;) I think that this update will have a lot saying WTF. I know I said it when I saw them. This keeps getting harder to figure out with every passing day (as opposed to usuall coasters).

I'm not saying you were doubting me doubting you, I was just saying you wanted to see me see that there was an update so that you would be proven right.
