Jason - Thanks for the update! And that's cool how you estimated the track length so far and even though it's not accurate (as you mentioned yourself) it's still really neat, good work! I now have my Cedar Point trip planned for September 9-10th, I hope construction is more intense by that point :-D

Well I looked at pointpixels, and as late as July 19, there were track pieces arriving. Also considering that they are probably being shipped by ship ;-), and that it takes a long time for a shipment to arrive by boat, this may be only half the track.

Also consider this, the track is bright red, this does not fit at all in an AquaTrax, on Intamins website they have the ride picture and guess what, the track is pale blue. I just don't think that red goes with a water theme.

The ride is likely already in the country. I remember reading that when Millennium Force was built, its ride parts were in the country as early as December of 1998, even though they didn't show up at the park or start construction until mid to late 1999.

Start searching all the Sandusky storage places! ;) I wonder where they actually had them stored?

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Oh by the way, while at the staging area, I tried counting the pieces of track. I think there's about 84 pieces on site. And although I didn't bring my tape measure, I did pace off a piece of track that was sitting next to the fence. Although it's not exactly accurate, I do it quite a bit. I'm in construction. The track pieces are about 30' long.

84 pieces x 30' = 2520' of track (so far)

this could be all the track used..... look at these lengths:

http://www.rcdb.com/id3430.htm

http://www.rcdb.com/id1412.htm

thats if his calculations are correct...that might be the majority,if not all, the track

So can I go ahead and link MF or Superman's lengths to prove that it might not be all the track? ;)

They probably had them stored at Intamin's offices in Massachusetts.

When do you guys think they will connect the track to the supports? or Do they normally wait till all the supports are up?

I don't think they will wait until all the supports are up. Just from a construction stand point, you still need to get machinery into tight areas, and supports could hamper that. Heck, even look at Dragster's construction. http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=1539

But that could have as much to do with hype and the park asking "can this be done now?" than anything.

The supports to me look like they would be like these

Exactly, AQUATRAX DUH!!!!!!!!!!

episode 9- Victory of the Force

Ok, Aquatrax isn't going to happen! We know the ride is going to be western themed. We know that it could possibly be called Maverick. A Maverick is a wild horse. What does a wild horse have to do with water (as a central part of the ride). It just doesn't seem to make sense to me.

My friend Al used to drive a 1974 Maverick. It was so rusted out that your shoes would get splashed when it drove through a puddle. ;-)

Just say no to trims

As much as I don't want it to be an aquatrax, I'm afraid John Carle is right on.

Tip,

That brought a smile to my day. :) Yet, i still don't believe that it's gonna happen. *** Edited 7/30/2006 11:57:10 PM UTC by grizzeg***

I may be wrong but is a wild horse called a mustang.

In the traditional sense, a Maverick is an unbranded animal. I guess it could be a cow, horse, or what ever, that strays away from its owner before it can be branded.

BirdOfPrey00, that's what I was thinking.

I really hope they do it soon! *** Edited 7/31/2006 12:44:27 AM UTC by DrunkinMonkey***
