I don't think the housing sucks at all. (Of course it has been five years since I've worked there). The only time I had a problem with housing was when I had issues with my roommates...which was basically two out of three seasons. But anyway, the housing itself (Commons and Bayside - I never lived on-point) was fine by me. But then, I'm a very adaptable person.
Yeah, speaking as someone who almost turned around and left when I first saw Commons, you get used to it. It's not great, but you honestly don't spend much time there. I probably spent 2 hours or less awake in Commons each day. And if you're sleeping, it doesn't really matter much how crappy it is.

The experience is so worth it! I've met so many great friends there and I'm counting down the days until we all get to see each other again.
Don't worry about the housing. You get over it. Just think of it as an experience. It's not worth turning down all the fun at Cedar Point because of less than stellar living conditions.

^Very true. After a week or two, you learn to just roll your eyes at housing. It's bad, we all know it, but it's a place to sleep and that's it.

I applied for the first time today and I'm so excited! I'm so excited to find new friends and work hard! I can't wait...
Who cares what the housing conditions are like...
Half the time your not even there so if you sleep get ready and go it shouldn't be that big of a deal.
Oh btw..if your lazy to shave your own legs, how are you going to work 50-60 hours a week???

You can move to a different room.

what items are smart to bring to get you through the season comfortably? what items are not so smart to bring?
Don't bring valuables. If you bring it, plan on it being stolen and if it isn't, consider yourself surprised.
Would you bring your laptop or would that not be such a good idea? Is there computers you can use if you don't bring your computer...
I would make sure you know your roommates well enough before bringing your computer. I wouldn't say it is certain it will get stolen, but just be smart about it.

If you live in the dorms you'll have your own locker where you can lock it up. The computers they have in the rec center are HORRIBLE. The wireless internet in the rec center is flaky at best but its still better than waiting in line to use a computer that might take 20 minutes to load a website. Apparently they're adding more wireless coverage to the dorms but I'll be surprised if they work more than half the time.
Haha this is sounding more like camp then a job...
People stealing things and so forth...
Are there people monitoring these housing complexes or is it whatever goes, goes?
I have a feeling it's going to be like rookies vs. alumni...haha! As long as people are nice and willing to help thats all that matters because I'm going to be sooo lost...
Eeek!
I didn't have a problem getting stuff stolen at all. For like the first week I would lock my locker up, but then I got to know my roommate and never bothered. Of course, you never know when you might come home and have a new roommate. Thankfully that never happened to me, and by the last 6 weeks of the summer I had the room to myself. I would say it's ok to bring your laptop as long as you're smart about it.
Besides the basics like clothes and shoes and stuff I just brought my laptop, some books, my DVDs (in a CD case), and then just acquired stuff as the summer went on. All my stuff fit in my locker nicely (and in a giant plastic tub on the way).

Take your average, full-height school locker, and multiply the width by about 2.5. They have a shelf at the bottom, a divided shelf at the top (one side of which is lockable separate from the locker itself), and space to hang clothes in the middle.
Edit: Here's a picture of the approximate layout, although some of features are slightly different.
