It's official, No Autospiels for 2006

I have many great experiences riding other coasters at (non CF) parks. I have NEVER thought more or less of a ride or a park if there were auto spiels or, more likely, total silence before and after my ride!!

Ah, then I suppose you have not endured either the overproduced Michigan's Adventure Tapes (are they still using those?) or the screaming CHR DJ from Lightning Racer (who was put out of our misery after the first season)

I think the more often we are exposed to it, the less of an impact it has. Meaning, us enthusiasts who go to the Point often care less about such intricacies of the experience as compared to a family that visits every few years. The little things do make a difference for the GP, while we are better equipped to look past them.

MiAdv was still annoying us with those last year.

At Michigan's Adventure! A whoooooollllleeee Summer of Fun!

I will be trecking back the 4 hour journey in 2 weeks. I am glad to hear that the music is back. I could care less about the speils. The music is what gets the blood pumping and the adrenilin (sp?) rushing. Love to hear that the "theming" has returned. See you soon CP. Looking forward to hearing the music building the excitement in the station.

The one I am glad isn't around anymore is the Power Tower autospeil. It made turnstiles hell, and it was quite the loud autospeil.

You spoke too soon... PT was running an autospiel today. Nice and loud, audible through the entire queue.

I noticed this too. The autospiel is back on Power Tower...

Have you noticed how often the spiel uses the name of the ride?

"Welcome to Power Tower. Power Tower is not recommended.... Power Tower will.... Loose Articles are not permitted on Power Tower.... "

It reminds me of the old Happy Fun Ball sketch on SNL

Ripcord Crew 2002 / MF Crew 2004

i heard from some people in the park today that ttd had an autospiel playing. can anyone tell me if this is true?

I hope not. I really really hope not.

I always thought the guy on the Autospiels had a cool voice.

Anyone wanting the spiels, please email me at

Do not use the Email link in my profile, Thanks!

Hi CPL-dude.

I emailed you a couple of times (cedarpointfan@gmail.com), but have recieved no answer yet. Do you still have the spiels? I would really love to have them.

Thanks.

Yeah, it says POWER TOWER like 6 times. POWER TOWER was designed for your mom.

you think they could!

As I have said before Ohio Law requires all riders to follow all safety instructions be they written or spoken. So any spiel isn't needed. That being said, I'm glad the aotuspiels are gone!!!

I don't really have a problem with the idea of an autospiel on Power Tower because it would be hard to spiel to all four towers (which run pretty much autonomously) since ops would constantly be talking over eachother, etc. But they need to get a better speaker system. They have a couple of old crusty horns turned up way too loud and right as you get up to the turnstyle, it is so loud it actually hurts! :)

I think the lift spiels on Magnum, Raptor, and Gemini are gone. I've not heard any of them at all now in four days at the park. They never really served a purpose anyway, so might as well not annoy the people in Lighthouse Point and Camper Village. :)

After visiting the park, I am so happy that the ride ops are now spieling the rides. Specifically, the ride ops on Magnum and Gemini really got into interacting with the guests too--which was great to see. It really gives the crews a chance to show the guests that they take pride in their ride. Let's hope their enthusiasm remains high throughout the season. :)

Whoever posted above about keeping the music should read back a couple of pages. They do still have the music playing under the live speil on MF, WT, and TTD. The perfect balance of both worlds.

My friend was having fun with doing Power Tower spiels, I'm sure he'll miss it. His favorite was converting the height to different units of measurement (it's something over 700,000 milimeters high for those of you wondering. :))

I enjoyed not hearing that Magnum Automitron while at LHP last weekend! That thing was just BAD. I really enjoyed hearing the ops actually talking to the guests. This is a very good move on CP's part.

The Corkscrew speil is horrible, as many other people have said. "Welcome back riders, how was you ride?" no pause whatsoever "Please exit you your left....."

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Ive been curious about why the only ride in the park without a spiel of any kind is Demon drop. I figured someone here might know. But i just noticed that the other day.
