EXACTLY HALLTD! I 100% agree with you!!!
thank you.....and enjoy your record breaking ride on Millennium Force!
I also think its funny, a lot of people wanted the personal spiels, and now they got them. Now that they're all taken away, the other people complain.
I don't mind them, but it does make me a little sad not to hear any music at all, and no cool lady voice.

If that music was your life...you must lead a pretty exciting one at that!...
But in all seriousness, Everyone complains about how Cedar Point has lost its edge with families and How it has become a huge Coaster Kingdom of thrills and chills...
Well this is one step back in the right direction, Not that I ever thought they were not there in the first place. But by having a ride op speil it puts the riders on the same level as the ride/ride ops...its more personal, they can add a touch to the ride..and help the kiddies over come their fears by calming them down... Thats My 2 cents
Thy Kingdom Come. Thy will be done
I think my biggest point is that I can't even begin to count the number of times that people said that autospiels were taking away the "unique personality" of the park, and now that they are gone, people are saying that we are taking away a part of the "unique personality" of the park...
I think there is another issue. I think people are much more prone to listen to live spiels, as opposed to recorded spiels. Especially if the ride host is energetic... Perhaps that is another reason why the park did it.

When Cedar Point is sued because a "personal experience" forgot to mention to keep your arms down, they'll return the autospiels. [No offense ops, but everyone forgets now and then.]
Personally, I loved the spiels.
If anyone wants them, I think I have all of them...

Are the ops going off of scripts? I know that when we first started spieling we were required to use the script to make sure all the info got in there... Once you get it memorized you are good to go... Normally that is

Wow, I never thought I'd see so many people b*tch about the auto spiels going away. Get over it already. I liked the recordings on the three new Intamin rides only because of the music, but I'll happily trade that if if means live spiels on every other ride in the park. Besides, the music was still there on WT without the voice playing, I'm sure plans are in the works for the other two rides. Get over yourselves and appreciate the increased guest interaction we've all been wanting for the past few years.
Oh, and I don't think they need to worry too much about getting sued if someone misses something. They have more than enough lawyer-ized signs around every ride to cover their butts. *** Edited 5/8/2006 10:29:32 PM UTC by Ralph Wiggum***

On Sunday I talked to one of the ride ops on Millennium asking why the music was gone. She said a ton of people asked the same question the day before and that they are going to try to get it back.

Yea I dont blame people for asking why its gone, and I'm happy to see some people care! It's a huge part of the theme of the ride!! I know every moderator on this site could care less or is against autospiels and music but it does matter to some people, let them have their own opinions.
thank you.....and enjoy your record breaking ride on Millennium Force!
It would be nice to see the music on MF come back. I don't think it will be the same without it. With WT's still there though, its a good tradeoff.
Thrills Around the Corner!
I think it is a good thing to bring the live safety announcements back to the rides. As for Millennium Force, Dragster, and Twister:
I think the main reason most people here are upset is that the music is gone. If / when Cedar Point puts the music back on the ride, I suspect it might be even better than the pre-recorded announcement.
Also: I think the reason that no one complained (too much) about the auto safety announcement on Millennium, Twister, or Dragster, is that you could hear the guests scream and applaud after their ride. The recordings more or less prevented this.
I'm glad the auto spiels are gone. Just get Ready To Go and the techno music back and I will be as happy as a mouse in a room full of cheese.
Here's to hoping for the return of the "botched" WT launches where the ride op doesn't actually launch on 1. Man, do I miss those fun launches.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
I am THRILLED that live spiels are back. Magnum's platform was alive like it hadn't been since early 2003.
Wicked Twister had music in addition to a live spiel. I think that gives you the best of both worlds. The guy spieling Saturday morning was sort of indicating that the music would be coming back.
Magnum and Raptor had great spiels while WT and MF were weak, but that is understandable since no one has ever spieled at those rides. They will get better.
I could not be happier about spiels being back. I think it is a HUGE step in the right direction.
Unfortunately, the park was most definitely not ready to be open this weekend. :(

You're free to have your opinion. Just as those who are glad they are gone can have theirs.

Sorry about the comment earlier if it sounded a bit harsh, but I have long been vehemently against auto-spiels and I have no desire to see them return...ever. I have a feeling the atmosphere of the rides mentioned will be returned with the addition of their original station music. Give it a week or two...

Do they still have that saying right before you launch on TTD "Arms down, head back and hold on" or is that now gone too?
Yes the "Arms down" is still there along with the engine sound. At least those will still be there.
I must admit that there did appear to be more energy in the TTD station.....but I guess that was because it was full of screaming first train riders.;) But there was more comedy from the ops, which is something the auto spiels can never have.
My favorite is from a Raptor op: "You're going to go really, really high, then really, really low, then really, really fast... and then finally do some inversions."
Then at Gemini: "And we're going to drop you at 60°...... see while other coasters are dropping you at 80° or 45°, we're the only coaster that will drop you at 60°..... (a few funny remarks from riders) I know, it's unbelievable!!":)
So I guess I wont miss the spiels that much. I can just remember them in my head if I ever get upset from not hearing them.:) Not to mention the new headsets are an added "cool factor".

Cedar Point is making a lot of smart changes this year. The auto spiels were terrible, totally sucked the personality out of the experience. CP is going back to it's roots in a lot of things this year it seems. The personal touch of having a live person enthusiastically talk about the ride was a CP tradition, and set the park apart from other parks. It adds energy and fun to the ride experience, and I'm very glad to see it back.
