Is it possible to get a walkon to TTD?

1500 pph is the predicted/theoretical/whatever capacity.

With 6 trains, yes. Ever seen them run 6?

Vince982's avatar

They don't run 6 because they've said it's more efficient to run 5.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Haha, sorry, rhetorical questions don't work quite as well online as they do in person. I know they always run five. That was the point I was trying to make. It's great to talk about how the ride could do 1500 pph with 6 or 1080 pph with 5, but if it doesn't do that in reality, isn't really kind of a moot point?

Yeah it says that on the website.. Maybe they were figuring on the hydraulic system to possibly recharge faster? Like I said, it depends on the day. Sometimes it takes 45 seconds for it to be ready to launch, sometimes it takes 120 seconds.. It depends a lot on the weather, if it's too hot or too cold, if the system is cooling itself properly in the first place, etc (she's very finicky about that sort of thing). So really the capacity of the ride can actually change from day to day. But even with 6 trains on you still have to wait for the hydraulic system to say "OK, I'm ready to launch another train now" so I don't see how it'd really make a difference, even if there is another train on the course, you're still launching the trains at the same interval.

Exactly. If the hyrdaulics charged like they were supposed to, then running 6 trains would be possible/efficient, and 1500 pph would be theoretically possible. Just like anything else, the realistic capacity would be somewhat below that. But since only 5 trains can be used at once, it's 1080 theoretical and signficantly less (again, mainly depending on the hydraulics) in actuality. *** Edited 2/16/2007 3:02:39 AM UTC by nievsbob***

but you shouldn't come here and act like a jerk.

Why? We haven't made Adam stop yet. ;)

Oh but I HAVE already stopped, why do you thing it's been quite so far?:)

And I know you guys dont mean anything bad towards us fanboys (at least I hope not) and that it's all in good fun, I can take a joke and laugh at myself....I mean hell, I do it everytime I walk in my room!:)

Dragster is a great thrill ride, one of the best.
But it's a mediocre to poor coaster.

I've never said Dragster is the best coaster......in fact come to think of it, I dont think I've ever said that on here (at least not that I can remember).....
I mean I too have that same opinion (though I dont like using the word mediocre). IMO, I think Millennium is a far better coaster than Dragster. BUT when it comes to thrills, Dragster is the one I turn to. It just seems to never get old for me, and thats why I love it soo much. I can ride Millennium over and over and it always seems to get boring after the 5th ride.....but not Dragster. 9 rides in a row on closing day and not at any time did I get bored. Every launch felt different, and the speed somehow always felt different.

^If TTD was just a 120mph launch, the ride would still be my favorite. The 420 foot tower is just for the added length in my opinion. The drop does nothing for me, the acceleration is what it is all about.

If I want a great drop, MF is just a couple hundred feet away and Maverick doesn't look to shabby either.

Maverick should give a nice throw forward with its drop.:) Heck, it just might end up being my favorite drop in the park.

To be honest, the foot for foot best drop in the park belongs to S&S. As much as it scares the Granholm out of me on the way up, that drop just blows away every other ride in the park.

Goodbye MrScott

John

I walked right on during Halloweekends. They were fixing something with the black thing that pulls the cars and i saw them starting to put things back into the track and screwing it tight, so i headed over to the enterance to give it a shot and as soon as i got there, the guy took down the rope and let people in, i walked on, front row.

^^That's lucky!

Black thing? o_O
Must be the catch car....which is actually red but has a blackish appearance on the top on account of residue.

In any case you got lucky Millennium.

Jugga,

Getting the Granholm out of you is a good thing.

At least I can truthfully say I didn't vote for her either time. She does scare me though ;(

Personally, I blame the voters in Detroit. After all, if they're foolish enough to re-elect Kilpatrick...

Hey I didnt want him to be re-elected.

-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut

Me either. Or Granholm. I personally have seen the effect of the state's poor economy over the last several years... Twice in her power my dad has gone to California, believe it or not, for work. My brother was looking for a co-op job for college and he actually ended up going to South Carolina because no one would hire him here. My mom couldn't get a job until she applied at Wal-Mart.

Long story short, the economy has suffered under Granholm. She's not gotten anything done (that I know of). Does anyone here mind explaining to me why she was reelected??
