How was your ride?

Is the line still way down by late evening like it was early in the season or has the summer peak season kept the line going through the evening and into the night?

^No! They must be catching on to it because it was an hour wait Sunday evening at 8:30 p.m. It was a busy day but still, I had hoped for a clearing out. Raptor was still low, about 20 or so minutes for front seat.

I doubt anyone is catching on. Probably has more to do with the fact that we're in the midst of the busiest time of year for the park.

Went yesterday (Wednesday) and at 5:30 it was maybe a 5 minute wait.

For those of you that have rode it, how was it?

My wife and I rode it one time on the last day in July. I would say that it was OK, but not as good as several of the other coasters at CP. I would put it behind; Raptor,Millenium,Dragster,Maverick and Magnum. We loved the way it looks when you're entering the park, so I would say that the best thing about it is visual.

I posted my first response regarding Gatekeeper on Media Day. I was not a fan of it the first few times I rode it. This past weekend, my fiance' and I went to the park and she got to ride it for the first time. Just let me say that I retract every negative statement that I made regarding that ride. This was her first visit to the park this year so I had to let her experience it. She loved it and I was suprised on how much different i was from what I remembered. I think the lack of sleep and amount of energy drinks that I had leading up to media day played with my judgement. I am now a big fan of this ride. Especially in the front seat. The wingover drop is breathtaking in the front row. I loved it so much that I can't see myself ever settling for a different seat.

Today, 8/12, rode front row, right side. The op said the restraints now stretch on the inside seat, and is his favorite seat. Not sure which train though. I had to head back home, so I couldn't compare and ride again.

Honestly one of my favorite rides in the park. The back left is amazing. Love the way it rips you over every hill. The first drop is one of my favorite elements, as it's got intensity and is unique to every other coaster in the park.

he only mentioned the inside seats? what about the outside ones? :)

I liked that ride very well. Iliked the gatekeeper so well that it became my top favorite coaster. Very nice addition to the park. My favorite part of the gatekeeper is doing the barrel roll through the keyholes. Like being out on the wing of the coaster in the air.

Ive been reading reviews of Gatekeeper all over the web and it blows my mind when people say that they are disappointed in Cedar Point/Gatekeeper. What more do these people want?!? Cedar Point invested $30 million very well between the front gate project and Gatekeeper. I do not think it was built to be the best roller coaster in the world nor was it advertised or hyped up to be. It is a world class thrill ride that delivers a smooth enjoyable ride that can appeal to a wide variety of people. Of course its no Millennium Force or Top Thrill Dragster but it is still an incredible investment for Cedar Point.

I rode on the right side one row from back outer seat. It vibrated, but no where near what I was expecting. It was more just something I noticed than something that actually bothered me.

On a side note this ride is really feeling fast at night. Every time I ride it I can't fathom how someone can think it is slow and boring.

Also when I was there on Saturday Aug. 17th, I noticed the line gets a bit shorter near the end of the night and then about 5-10 minutes before close the line was almost empty.

The ride it's self if awesome but the harnesses KILL my collar bones the first time i rode it i was in some pretty bad pain at the end, didn't really notice it during, but when it was over and i was just sitting there i could feel the pain well, and the days after that there were sore to the touch for at least 3 days, the second time i held the harness out with my hands and no pain, but sucks having to ride while holding on, not just holding on, but holding on to a rubber harness on my chest kind of awkward ride and for that fact the gate keeper is very low on my list of rides to me it is not even a must ride. I mean its a great ride but until i can figure something out about the pain its a no go for me unless im there with someone that's hasn't rode it yet.
1. Millennium Force 2.maverick 3.top thrill 4.Magnum 5.Raptor

The rest not a big deal if i hit them or not but i always do i go so often.

Rode on the right side, outer seat, third row.

PROS.

Smooth as Glass.
Captures the "flight" factor way better than any Flying coaster I've been on. Great sensation of flight.

Flat Spin was AMAZING! I've never felt so free on a coaster. Free as a bird, this element was just so much fun. Best inversion at the park TBH.

Keyholes were okay, I just liked to flipping part.

Dive loop was the most forceful part, and really fun, You just soar towards the ground before quickly pulling up.

The In-line roll was awesome. PERFECT element for a wing coaster, hands down. No Wing rider should be without one of these.

Most people complain about the helix. In my opinion, anyone disliking this elements has mental or physical problems. This element was WAY more forceful than I expected. And with the wing design, it just felt like spiraling down from the sky. Man was this element fun.

The "airless" hill after the helix serves it's purpose- It somewhat lessens the tightness of the restraints.

CONS

The camelback hill, UGH!! Maybe it's just the restraints...but I've felt more airtime on Mean Streak (no lie.). A vertical loop would be a good replacement. Or maybe a mini high speed hill like Leviathan. Maybe then we could get some airtime. I just find it odd that something that's sole purpose is to provide airtime, yet I get more airtime from coming off the MCBR. :/

Restraints. I didn't have a problem with them until sitting on the Brake run. The BEST way to avoid pain is to not move around. They weren't tight until I tried to move my body forward. That's when it hit me.

I didn't have any problem with the restraints and found it to be quite comfortable honestly. The ride is alright, especially the first half of it. After the mid course is kind of boring, but overall I enjoyed riding it. It's not my favorite at the park, but definitely more enjoyable than Dragster for me. Good addition, Cedar Point!

After my first ride (second row, inside on the right) I felt no need to get back on it. But the next day I just couldn't stop thinking about trying it again! I ended up riding it several times because it was really addictive.

My favorite seat was the third outer seat on the left. It was more enjoyable to me than the right side and I could feel a lot more of the force. The keyholes were a great addition--especially at night.

The lines also weren't a problem from Sunday to Tuesday. It was nice to go on for my dad and I most likely because the line was never longer than 15 minutes, and it was enjoyable to ride after being on MF several times ;)

We were there 8/31 and the line was 1 1/2 hours. The ride was fine, but not in Maverick or Millenium Force class. I want to ride it again without the extra long wait to make up my mind completely.

Rode left third from back, some vibrations and vest still tightened until I couldn't breath, even with me pushing out from under the vest.

Then rode right 4th row hoping for some breathing room. No such luck, tightened pretty quick. This ride vibrated quite a bit. What was odd, though, was climbing the lift hill, a steady fast low vibration that felt liked an over-maxed massage chair.

I'm not feeling these purportedly new flexible restraints.

I went Labor Day and was able to get in the line quickly (Raptor was a walk on so right after we ran over) so I finally bothered to try the very front and very back on the different sides and was able to compare them (front-right was my favorite.)

It certainly "feels" faster and more intense - I love all 4-times. I felt some air-time on the front (right) and the back I certainly felt the G's.

Although I will say that for Labor day in general; all of the coasters felt faster. So it may have been my whole perception of the speed. We went on Mean Streak in the morning (Maverick was closed) I don't think there was any trims and it actually felt fun and fast (but still rough.)

However, it was the first time I had issues with the restraints. I am a short-skinny dude so I haven't had issues until yesterday. I don't know if it was the position or my luck or what. I can see why some people have issues with the vibrations it is present but I never found it brain-rattling like I do Mean Streak or Corkscrew.

I do wonder if it was the train I had. I didn't think to keep track until after the fact. I was a little surprised by it - especially since I was under the impression that it was going to be fixed. My girlfriend said the same about the restraints. We have been on for maybe 10 (I originally said 20, but my girlfriend was like... 'no not that much...') or so rides before yesterday and never had a issue.

As of today they have disabled the ratcheting of the vest straps.
