Holy crap was that crowded!

I might be going with my cousiins that don't have Passes on the 20th, and will it probably be really busy and filled up in the Park?

Mr. cedar point, you and your cousins will probably be trampled to death that day, which will be dangerously crowded most likely that day, or any saturday in october. I know it may cost more, but you should try friday night to see all the scary stuff, then go sunday to ride the rides that were not open on friday night, or if a ride was broken, etc.

Actually I think doing a Fri-Saturday trip is the best way to go. On Friday you can easily hit all the haunts and the major coasters. Then when Saturday comes around you can do the less popular coasters, flat rides and shows. Not to mention redoing either Vampire and Pharaohs or UR Dade when they open (3) with a minimal wait and getting another night of the scare zones (which are the best haunted attractions anyways.)

Well I have I pass for 2007 and I just wonder how long the wait is on the Maverick usually is on the Saturdays. I went Friday the 5th and it was 25 minutes. My cousins don't have passes and they just wonder about the Maverick because they haven't gone on it yet. I also haven't been during a Saturday in Halloweekends yet.

I got my P. Pass on the 5th for 2008, and they also didn't get the Jackets. Has anyone heard that if they got them yet.

Saturday was horrid. Many of you have said you have seen worse, but I have never in my 20 some years of going to the park. It almost wasnt enjoyable. Friday was a different story though. I waited maybe 20 min for Maverick (front car). Saturday the line was out past the Chuck Wagon in the midway so I didnt even attempt it. Some of these I timed, some are rough estimates of some of the waits I had.

Friday: Maverick 20min, Top Thrill 25min, Raptor 20min, Magnum 5-10min, Iron Dragon 5min, Skyhawk walk on, Wicked Twister walk on, Millenium 10 min (right at 6pm).

Millenium Force 2 1/2 hrs, Mantis 2hrs, Disaster Transport 45min, Demon Drop 30min, Gemini 45min, Mean Streak 2hrs

Saturday wasn't enjoyable. I think Cedar Point has a capacity issue when all the lines are full and a lot of people were just sitting around doing exactly squat. There were a few times when there were lines for the restrooms. I think they should consider there capacity issues. Food prices were outrageous. 2 French Fries and a pop were easily $16.00.

^ Burger basket with fries = $7.50, add a jumbo drink $3.99 This was from the Burger Patio. I agree, just rediculas.

So they should install more bathrooms to cover that one or two Saturday's a year where extremely nice weather is mixed with Halloween goodness?

I don't think they have any capacity issues. On a normal operating day there are lines. The bigger, better, more popular rides will have long lines. The smaller, less popular rides will have shorter lines. When you scale that up to a day like Saturday (which sounds like it was about average for a Halloweekends Saturday with really nice weather) the lines for everything (food, rides, bathrooms) will be long. That doesn't indicate a capacity issue. It indicates you picked a really nice day to go, and so did 30-35,000 other people.

That's why I'm hoping closing weekend is storms all day Friday until about 5:30. Storms all day Saturday until about 5:30 and then nice all day Sunday. I really hope its not mid-70's and sunny all weekend.

Goodbye MrScott

John

Were you there as well John? This was seriously worse than normal. Even at $3.00 each all the soda machines anywhere in the park were all sold out (yes I looked around 11pm).

On a side note, I wonder if the park actually does have a limit on how many people they can admit on a certain day. Just as stadiums and bars have a max capacity set by the fire marshall, I wonder if the park has one.

I'm sure the park has a limit, but I'm pretty sure they would entirely run out of parking space before they ever reached that point. It can and has handled many more people than were there last weekend. The biggest attendance days ever were in the 1990's when there were far fewer rides and attractions to spread out the crowds than what they have now.

I would have to agree that Saturday was just as frustrating as it was enjoyable for most park guests. 20-30 just to order food and to then not be able to find a table to sit down and eat it at is just plain sad.

I dont know what you are all complaining about, I went Saturday and had a blast. Sure due to the crowd we didnt do MF or Raptor, and yes 2 hours for Maverick was kind of a drag. However, I must say that the crews working Vampire and Pharaohs were the best I have ever seen, and the professionals in the scare zones were at top form (even went through Fright Zone twice.) The key is to just modify your day, when the park is packed like that you need to cut back on the coaster riding and ride some flats, that way you get in as many rides.

Edit-Boy am I tired. You all know what I ment. *** Edited 10/9/2007 3:15:05 AM UTC by Touchdown***

Fright Fest? Since when is there a Six Flags inside of Cedar Point? ;)

Maybe he was actually at Six Flags ;)

On another note....I had my first trip through Fear Faire and have to admit that it was quite impressive! I do miss the fog machines being in the midways though.

I just got home from spending the entire weekend at the Point. Friday night was AWESOME! I rode ever coaster that was open and still had time to spend with the kids. The lines were all short except for Maverick. Which we got to ride during ERT so it didn't matter.
Saturday was crazy crowded but it was good for the kids. They got to ride alot and the adults still got in the other 8 coaster that were not open on Friday night night. I will have to give credit to the Silver Dollar staff. The lines were crazy we waited and hour and a half for a table, but the staff was still friendly and smiling. We only waited about 25 minutes for the food, which was excellent. The staff did an excellent job considering the crowds.
Sunday was enjoyable got in several rides on Maverick, MF, TTD and Twister. The park was still pretty crowded Sunday but we took in a couple of shows and a eat a the Kooky Castle ( Macaroni's)
Cedar Point is the Greatest Place on Earth. TRhis weekend we are off to check out King's Dominion HAUNT. I'll see how they compare.

It's not that crowded until they're parking people in the grass outside the tolls. :)

I was at the park on Saturday and Sunday and stayed at Breakers.

I was told by a CP Shuttle driver that all of the CP resorts were booked solid. They actually had CP employee's calling surrounding hotels/motels trying to find rooms for visitors. I was also told that the guest count was 46000+ guests.

All I have to say is thank god for early entry. We just ran for Maverick & MF on Saturday and Raptor and TTD on Sunday before the park opened. Then focused on all of the haunted houses when they opened at 1pm.

We saved all of the foggy walk throughs for Sunday night when the crowds were smaller and lines shorter.

Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it.

Piss on it and walk away.

Well if CP continues to have Saturday Hallowekends as crowded as they have been, how long until enough people get turned off by all the long waits, etc. and choose not to return? Have Saturdays always been this bad or is this a recent thing?

I never go on Saturdays in May or in the fall due to the crowds, except for our Halloweekend trip and our trip a week ago when we had no choice due to scheduling issues. We still had a great time though and focused on seeing all the shows, it was a lot of fun. But I couldn't bring myself to wait 2+ for MF when I knew that I could return Sunday morning and ride MF 5-10x JCC early entry.

I'm sorry, but big crowds and chaos are a real big turn off for me as are messy disgusting crowded bathrooms. Both were present on my September 29 Saturday visit. Maybe they could add some of the GL rides to CP to even things out more. :)

I think a large majority of people that come on crowded Halloweekend Saturdays have just as much fun as they would any other time. The GP isn't concerned with coaster counts and all that crap, they're just at the park to enjoy what they can. People are more accepting than you would imagine of the long lines. I'm not saying that nobody ever gets mad about the long waits, but the majority of people still enjoy their day.
