Too bad you could not see the facial expresions of the poeple on the webcam. It was not the usual smile and laughter.. almost everyone had blank stares of dissapointment.
We made the best of it.. we rode Maverick and Disaster Transport. Then we walked to Millenium Force and found it broken down. It was acting up the whole day and the lift did not sound good. It sounded more like a chain lift.
After MF was closed we waited 30 mins to eat and were still not halfway thorugh, so we left Cedar Point to eat and then came back.
We went in the tomb haunted house to find out they did not have any 3-D glasses..
The park is a great park, but they should not allow so many people in because it make it ****y for everyone. Trust me, I was not the only upset person there.
This trip cost me around $100.00 Maverick and DT are not worth that. Sorry for exploding my anger on season pass holders, but it was very, very, very unpleasent. I regret not going to Great America instead.. at least there could have ate a bug for free line passes. ;)
"65,000 yesterday."
What's that record; is 65,000 more than usuall for Halloweekends?

MIA Mike thats not what I saw last Saturday. I really think that only enthusiasts truly whine about a packed park, due to our preference for riding the "big ticket" rides and their ignorance. GP more often then not, go on days when there are large crowds and so are used to it, also most of them (and enthusiasts like myself) adapt to the large crowds and skip some of the bigger rides in favor of doing multiple smaller rides. If people hated a packed park so much, they wouldn't come back, yet every year Halloweekends gets bigger. Heres the short end for enthusiasts: Go on Friday Night if you want to do the haunts/rides, Sunday if you want to marathon the coasters and skip Sat all together.
I believe it was crowded, but I'm not sure I believe 65,000. I think that would be an attendance record. The most I've ever heard of is 53,000 and you could hardly walk on the midway that day.

I think next year I may just go on Friday.. it would be nice to have some walk-ons after that.. how much bigger do you expect them to get before they start reducing in size.
I think the only enthusiasts that whine about crowded days are those that don't know how to enjoy what the park has to offer besides the rides and houses. See the shows, they're well worth a wait, especially the Monsters Rock show and the readings of Edgar Allen Poe. Walk around the park taking in the atmosphere, take a break in Town Hall to enjoy the history. If you feel like spending the money, play some of the games. Want a meal without a long wait? Hit Midway Market before 1, and the rest of the night, keep your eyes peeled for short lines. If you don't scare easily, walk through the scare zones and enjoy the screams and antics of those that are easily scared. That's how I usually spend about 2 hours of my Saturdays at the park. Oh, and I almost forgot, check out the parade.
There's a lot more to CP, especially during Halloweekends, than the rides. Heck, I barely ride the coasters that much anymore when I'm at the park; even on a slow day. My enjoyment now lies in the atmosphere, taking pictures, and watching all of the people enjoying their day. You can find me in Camp Snoopy sometimes watching the little kids enjoying their day, and it makes my day that much more enjoyable. So take time to enjoy the little things, things that don't always require waiting, or things that don't send your heart rate off the charts. I think you'll find yourself enjoying the park even more than you thought was possible.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

I do skip saturdays. But at least this year, even Sundays have been pretty busy. At least more so than I can remember of past Sundays in the fall. CP either needs more rides or a longer season. Today was a great day at the park though. It was summer-like crowded, but many lines were 1/4 hr and TTD, MF and Raptor were less than 1 hour. Maverick, was packed when we walked by, maybe another day...and the parade was great. It was fun to see all the kids and others enjoy this. It even seems a bit longer than the 1st one. I hope they keep it going in years to come. In fact, I hope to see a Xmas holiday parade some time, but that is the subject of another thread...:)
Sorry, if they are going to extend the season it needs to be on the front end (April) not the back end. While in October, you have a slight risk of <50 highs, <30 lows and snow, Nov/Dec you are nearly guaranteed it. Ive done CP once when it was high of 42, low of 15 and have no desire to experience that again, and I'm an enthusiast.
I think MIA-Mike's point of view may have something to do with being from out of state and not being able to be there virtually every weekend like some of the people on this board seem to be. If you are planning a single weekend trip per year you may be disappointed when you are not able to enjoy riding all the coasters. I am sure he and others have a different mindset than those of you who make the park your second home.
Ricko, when I lived further away from CP I either planed to be there multiple days to ride all the attractions or accepted I wouldn't be able to do all of them. The park is just too big with too many rides. Other parks that are too big for one day Ive been to: Magic Kingdom and Epcot (but I assume this also includes SFGAdv, SFMM, and Disneyland.)
Also I would do my research before going and if at all possible avoid ever going to a park for the only time on a Saturday.

That happened 3 times today and many more times late this season. What is up with that? I thought they replaced the motor last year?!?

Us college kids are on a budget.. we can't do multiple days.
Also, it was a long trip, my gas was way more than my ticket.
65,000? I don't think so. More like 55,000, but still that's just crazy.
And what good would not allowing season passes during Halloweekends? Most pass holders are regular park goers and know to stay the hell away from the park on a Saturday in October.
MIA Mike did you read past my first half of my first sentance? Ok you couldnt do multiple days cause you're in college (neither could I) you should have known at that point that it was highly unlikely you would be able to ride everything you wanted to, especially on a Saturday. You need to do research, Halloweekends has given me my best two days at the park: one on a Friday Night this year, and once on a Sunday in 2003 (when I was in college) Saturdays are always the most packed day at the park, you should have come another day.
Our family went on a Saturday every year, for the last 6 years.. maybe five. Anyways, it has never been this crowded. Sometimes a little busy, but not like it has been the last two years.
Halloweekends have boomed over the last 2 years, ecspecially this year.
So, like Touchdown said, change the day you go to the park. If you or your family aren't happy with the crowds then go another day, simple as that.
No one ever said your family must come on a Saturday. Plus you just admitted knowing that last year it was really busy. Did you think all those people were just going to disappear? Stop complaining and go a different day. If you weren't someone that frequented a board like this then I could possibly understand the frustration, but you know it's going to be busy. Get over it.

Ride on, MrScott!
Pass holders were a very small fraction of the guests that were there on Saturday. I don't think banning them would have made much of a dent in the attendance. Sure the park was the most crowded I had ever seen it, but 90% of the people I saw were still having a good time. In the end, that's what counts.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
I was refering to the fight about the season passes and such. That does not mean my opinion does not stand on the crowds. I will cahnge the date I go on nest year, all I was trying to say was I did not expect it to be that bad because it wasn't in the past.
I love the point, I'll do what I need to so I can have fun on my trips.
I had a package through the Breakers Express this past weekend, thinking that the cold weather and Indians playoff games would keep visitors away.
While Friday nite was awesome, Saturday was a nightmare! Not only were the lines for the rides insane, but there were lines everywhere--food, restrooms, etc.. We lucked out at dinner (with reservations at Bay Harbor). Excellent food and service! Love that place!
I saw Mr. Kinzel strolling through the park Saturday evening with an ear to ear grin. He's so friendly and approachable, nice guy.
I wish they would bring the Freeway system back, if only for times with capacity crowds, then at least there'd be 2 good rides without all the waiting.
Won't be back to the Point until July 2008.
I'm too far away to get my money's worth from a season pass---has anyone ever done the Cedar Point VIP thing? Is it for the whole entire day?
halltd has. He has a trip report you can read that is pretty good overview of the day.
I suggest you take a reading, he does a great job narrating the day.
If you visit the point often it isn't worth it in my opinion.
My Six Flags Great Adventure trip is definitely going to be VIP as I don't have the time to drive to New Jersey cross country all the time. And I want to ride the coasters enough times to get my fill. *** Edited 10/15/2007 4:31:39 PM UTC by factory81***
