Hill Question/Theory

There is my 5 minute sketch on how I believe this ride will operate if it is to go both ways. Just like Stormrunner's station but launch opposite ways.

I bet you all wish you could sketch something that professional up in 5 minutes, don't you? ;)

Should probably go here for further discussion.

Well, it was quick, but you get the idea for sure.

Man, that one puts mine to shame, but you took that extra minute more than I did to draw yours.

I can totally understand how yours looks that good then.

I like the idea, just not sure on throughput/capacity. A third train load adds up quick over the course of a day and the season, which is why Raptor and Magnum are consistently at the top of the list. I do like the idea of being able to run the course in either direction though.

Jugga, but like I mentioned, MF runs only one train on the coarse at a time so it's feasable to have good intervals with this kind of setup.

Mark

WOW - That's a really cool idea. I don't think that's what Maverick is going to be, but its a great idea. Congrats on the drawing too. Very impressive.

Thanks Tim :)

What if it IS a duling coaster, but they go different directions? They could build two sets of identical tracks but just load at the same time, launch at the same time, but go in different directions.

MrInk, if Millennium is hitting interval, they have one late in the run, one heading up the hill and one moving from unload to load. So while they've only got one on the course, they've got 3 rolling through and moving butts.

Though I think that's totally possible for some ride, somewhere - I think that's impossible for Maverick

Mark

There ya go. I like the idea.

And I'm very happy with Griffon DragonFire. I wasn't sure. I mean...its still very similar to Sheikra...but its still pretty gnarly.

Jugga, you could actually run 4 trains with this configuration. Stay with me for a second...

Each side has 2 trains (obviously) Train 1SE and Train 2SE are unloading and loading while Train 1NW is launching and Train 2NW is waiting to launch. Insert a mid course block out there at the appropriate point and launch Train 2NW at that point.

I think that relayed my idea.

That could work and would be interesting to see it working (in real-time)

True... but...

There would be no need to have seperate unload/load stations beacuse you would have the duration of the ride to get the next train set.

I agree, it could be hard to hit a good interval, but not impossible.

What?!? Where's mine? I thought mine was impressive also! ;)

But his moved. Visual stimulation is good. :)

Nice drawing Loopy!! :)

Hmm.. if this is a launch coaster, then they would require having two launch sections to send the coaster in both directions. Don't know how much that would increase the cost, but wonder if that would be to expensive to do, plus, if one section off launch breaks down, then the coaster would be very slow in capacity.

JuggaLotus's avatar

But if it only has one and it breaks down, the coaster would be closed.

John

If any coaster breaks down, its closed. Nothing new there really. :)
