HalloWeekends Preview Night - September 12

Or just use the existing catering facilities. Or build a version of Harmony Hall at Carowinds and use it for catering. Or... Yes, I do think they will want to look into improving the meal portion of the event. It is a nice thing to have and I think they could resolve the issues relatively easily.

Since I'm pretty much a rock star in the enthusiast world I was a bit annoyed that I had to show them my ID and club card to enter the event. I simply asked 'Do you know who I am?' That should have sufficed. My track record is close to 300 different coasters, many of them in Cedar Fair parks even before they became Cedar Fair parks! So clearly the park was in the wrong for asking for such identification.

It became clear that the park must have forgot who I am because they had the audacity to ask for my size when it came to the hoodies. SERIUSLY? Again! Don't you know who I am?

It just blows my mind that the temperature of the food was a bit on the warm side. I really don't have time to sit there and wait for my food to cool when there is coaster riding to be had. I seriously just have to shake my head at the people who put on this event. It was just a major inconvenience to have to show them me ID, tell them my hoodie size, and wait for my food to cool.

Then I woke up... :)

In all seriousness, thanks to the people who deal with the bad apples of the group. It was a great event and had an awesome time!

First off, I saw the incident too, because I was walking out of Hexed at that very moment, and it wasn't quite the tantrum it was made out to be. Anyone in a customer-facing role would know that this kind of thing is just part of the game.

You definitely saw one of many incidents. However, irregardless of the level to which the individuals in question reacted, it doesn't make it justifiable. It may be "part of the game" but it's still obnoxious and doesn't belong in that environment.

I get the biggest kick out of the sanctimonious folks on here that would likely argue just as much when they get refused their 6th sauce for their 20pc McNuggets.

Frankly, I don't care if you think I or any one else here are trying to sound morally superior. But when you see good people working their butts off, only to get backlash for such trivial things, it's infuriating. Especially when it comes from people in your own community.

My comments before the weekend's event (earlier in this thread) about the sense of entitlement seem prophetic after reading this.

I cannot envision a scenario where this event is held next year without an some changes. At a minimum, I would imagine the meal (if there is one) is not at Midway market. It was simply overwhelmed.

Seems like a self-fulfilling prophecy - you predict people will complain and they you yourself complain.

Again, it's part of the game. If you don't want or are unable to handle backlash, whatever the degree, then you shouldn't be in a customer-facing role. This isn't the first rodeo for these people, and in reality, it's all part of the natural marketing feedback cycle which helps a) gauge the effectiveness of the current event and b) mold future events.

In any event, you don't know the situation and weren't part of it, yet you are ready to instantly jump on one side and be judgmental against those who are in "your community." Perhaps you should simply take your own advice and mind your own business.

Whatever man. You don't have the same point of view about how people react and the justification of it as I do. It's all good.

I was able to see and hear it from a different perspective so I understand it more than you might think. So sorry, I shall not be minding my own business (which wasn't part off "my advice").

Peace and love brotha, peace and love.:)

^^ Just because verbal abuse may be expected in a customer-facing position does not mean that it is justified. It also does not mean that the appreciative coaster enthusiasts cannot feel sympathy for the individuals who work hard to keep us happy only to have the minority blow up on them. I fully realize that one should expect unhappy guests but I agree with Adam that we can and should feel sympathetic. How would you feel if your hard work not only was unappreciated but also ended in people throwing a fit? Not very good, right? Or would you just be like, "Whatever, man. I am happy!! :)"?

I didn't participate in this event but I just read the last couple pages and wanted to leave a comment. For those who appreciated the hospitality and generosity please make sure that you voice your comments to the staff if you haven't done so already. I'm sure they would really enjoy hearing positive feedback to help balance out some of the criticism.

I actually did this yesterday. I contacted CP online and emailed them about how great Tony, Kristy were, and thanking them for everything. I hope others did too.

Emails and tweets work but I think they can get lost in, what I'm imagining is, a sea of hate mail and negatweets. If you're ever in the park and see them, tell them in person. Any thanks is great but I think a direct approach is the best way.

I, and others in my party, did this Friday at the event as well.
