HalloWeekends Preview Night - September 12

It's amazing how some people find a way to complain about something, even when it's free.

That's what's infuriating. Yes there were A LOT of people but you weren't forced to eat or go through Hexed. Things were organized the way they were and more people turned out than was anticipated....... it happens. Everything was free and they most certainly doesn't have to do this event in the first place. I saw the person who blew up in Tony's face and the slew of people complaining to him and Kristy about the lines. Needless to say, that ticked me off beyond understanding.

If a "ban list" exists, I hope he's on it. That's not a proper reaction and no way to represent your club.

Agreed. While it's annoying to have to stand in line, Tony, Kristy, and everyone involved are working hard to provide a fun event for free. Remember that you get what you pay for.. Well, in this case, you still get plenty more. I managed to make the most of it even if I did miss out on the Hexed preview. We have the All-Season Dining Plan so we could've even gone over to Pink's or Coasters and made it, but we still had a great time.

I'm not sure what there is to say about someone who would blow up on Tony over a free event other than that I also feel he should be banned from future events and perhaps his club notified.

I didn't think twice about waiting in line with other club members. It moved pretty quick anyway.

Great. If enough people complain, maybe CP will decide to stop giving us these fantastic events.

I'll add my thanks again. We had a marvelous time and look forward to the next one.

It's also amazing how quickly people pounce on those with a simple opinion, observation or constructive criticism and scream entitled! Comments like yours are part of the problem.

We had an amazing night at the preview event. We were in the 6-7 crowd for Midway Market and yes the line was long but it went quick and meeting new coaster club members while standing in line made the line go fast. We had a chance to talk to Kristy while in line and we told her over and over again how much we appreciated all they do, but during our entire conversation people kept coming up complaining about the most trivial things. It was disgusting. I hope Tony and Kristy really know how much the majority of us appreciate all they do with these events. These people who can only spew negativity do not represent the majority of coaster club enthusiasts. To the whole team -Great job and thanks for everything!!!

WRONG. If you are complaining about something that is free, YOU are the entire problem. Period. Since you like to defend every single person who complains about free events, you must be one of the complainers.

Thank you to Tony & Kristy, and CP for hosting the event. I hope they know that the vast majority are appreciative of all they do to set these events up for us.

Stop complaining about free events, people. So you had to stand in line. So what? Were you forced? Nope. Stop complaining. I saw more than a few rude and nasty people complaining about free things at this event, and I was disgusted. Shut up and appreciate what you are being given. The park doesn't have to do these things, and the more people whine and complain, the fewer the events will be.

Nope, I didn't have a problem with a single thing the night of the event, because from my vantage point, I thought it was a great event. Plus, those that do give opinions around here do just fine without me having to be a white knight for them.

At the end of the day, I think if you reflect inward, you will find that you're complaining about the complainers far more than the complainers ever complained about anything.

My comment wasn't directed at you, but the recent misconduct by some enthusiast groups at these events.

What a wonderful event. My family enjoyed it very much and were grateful for everything. We did miss out on Midway Market. The line was so long at 6pm, we waited 30 minutes then left and grabbed a bite to eat before lining up for Hexed at 7pm. I don't think we would have made Hexed if we decided to wait in line for dinner. I think most people in the 5-6 slot decided to wait until ERT was nearly over before lining up for dinner and that pushed the 6-7 crowd back an hour. Hindsight is 20/20, huh?

Despite that and the light rain, we had a blast! Headed back next Friday night as well. I didn't catch the Midnight Syndicate show and am DYING to see it!!

My only complaint is that my truck broke down on the way to Cedar Point so I did not make it to the preview event.

The event thrown by the park was really awesome (again!)... Thanks to everyone involved. CP has been going above and beyond what any other park would normally do for its fans and enthusiasts. I really don't think there is another park that comes close to be honest. Unfortunately, there will always be idiots in attendance who create unneeded headaches for those who have worked so hard to make such a wonderful night for everyone.

Opinions and criticism are one thing, complaining and throwing tantrums is another. Complaining about the lines and throwing a tantrum about being late to get in line at the specified time is neither constructive criticism or a simple opinion. They deserve every bit of backlash for their actions.

This is not jumping on people with opinions. Know the difference.

It was an awesome event. I hope Tony, Kristy, Jordan, Jason, Brian and the rest of the park crew know how much is appreciated. I can honestly say that if I had personally witnessed the person going off on Tony, I probably would've told the guy to chill out myself. As it was, my wife and I reminded some people behind us in line for dinner that the park didn't have to do any of this, and that they were in fact complaining about a free meal.

First off, I saw the incident too, because I was walking out of Hexed at that very moment, and it wasn't quite the tantrum it was made out to be. Anyone in a customer-facing role would know that this kind of thing is just part of the game. I get the biggest kick out of the sanctimonious folks on here that would likely argue just as much when they get refused their 6th sauce for their 20pc McNuggets.

If what you witnessed was not as bad as what others are describing, how can you definitively say that you're talking about the same incident?

Timing? Fair enough, perhaps I saw one of 50 incidents where the unwashed masses railed against their free stuff.

The people in front of me at MM were doing that as well. Complaining about what they'd 'heard' would be in there before we actually got in there. Then they switched to complaining about something else. When I went inside, I made sure to sit as far away from them as I could because it was disgusting that they were so completely unappreciative. I have no idea what club they belonged to, but I hope it wasn't the one I belong to.

My comments before the weekend's event (earlier in this thread) about the sense of entitlement seem prophetic after reading this.

I think most people were pretty understanding, but a few definitely caused a problem.

I cannot envision a scenario where this event is held next year without an some changes. At a minimum, I would imagine the meal (if there is one) is not at Midway market. It was simply overwhelmed. An alternative might be to pass out vouchers good at a few different places (coasters, etc) to spread out the crowds and move towards more of a quick-service meal.

Having said that, I didn't mind waiting, it was free after all! Much thanks to the park for hosting this. It was very generous.
