They checked our IDs and membership cards against the list they had at check in. Probably to make sure there's no fraud.
To verify that the name and picture on the list + club membership card + ID match the individual presenting them?
We didn't have a coaster club membership with my son's name on it. So if someone was checking IDs and matching them to the registration sheets and to the membership cards, they failed.

I was also hoping to make my "last stand" on Mantis that night but apparently it is not one of the rides in operation on Friday nights.Has that always been the case?
Pretty much. Mantis, Mine Ride, Gemini, Corkscrew, and some other rides have not been open for Halloweekends Fridays since at least 2007, maybe longer.

What they actually check is probably minimal, if at all. They point is, that if you do happen to be someone that gets checked, and you don't have credentials/aren't registered/don't have a photo ID, they can deny you.
For the record, the concept of registering and not getting a confirmation of any kind is a bit ridiculous.

Its at Midway Market, but the food they had last year was Excellent! Including peel and eat shrimp! Not the normal MM fare!
Good. And hopefully there will be some for everyone. At coastermania, I was given the second lunch time, and was there on time, but there was nearly nothing left.
My youngest son is 14 with no ID. He has attended all the events at CP and KI since GK media day and they did not give him a hard time. I just told CP/KI staff he was under 16 and has no ID and they were ok with that.

Hello!
We will check your membership card. And we will check your ID. If you are not registered, or your ID doesn't match your card, you won't be able to enter the event.
And you do receive a message on the screen after you click 'submit' that says, "you're registered." That's your confirmation. There's really nothing else to bring to the park - our staff is aware you're coming.

Certainly, we don't expect a child to present a driver's license. Most kids are part of a family club membership.

I have taken my 11yr old daughter to every "coaster club event" for the last three years and while she has her own GOCC membership card she certainly doesn't have a photo id and it has never been a problem.
Tony - Thanks for putting these things on for us, we really enjoy them and I know it is a lot of work. Thank you to all your staff as well. Last year was a blast and we are looking forward to this year.

Yeah, same here, and it was expected, but certainly didn't want to assume :)
And I think opening Mantis on Friday is a grand idea. Perhaps maybe the HW kickoff is a good enough reason to do so for this Friday at least.
