You want to move Soak City why? So all of the people in the hotels can drive to it?
All of this ridiculous speculation and no real confirmation that airport was actually sold, let alone who the buyer might be or any plans.

I think it would make a great mixed use area. Lots of public space, maybe an amphitheater.
Yeah, that stretch of road has has a lot of great successes, like the drive-in movie theater, the half-finished hotel and the hotel that's now a rehab place.

Which hotel became a rehab place? Sometimes it is hard to tell which ones are open and which ones are closed/abandoned.
"Thank the Phoenicians!"
I want to say it's the tudor-style building next to the used car dealership.

That makes sense. Growing up we always knew it as The Tudor Inn, but a few years ago it became The Retreat.

How about a 5 star hotel property? I'm tired of staying in crappy hotels :)
And just think, those 5 star hotels could include the price of a fast lane pass in the nightly rate.
All Cleveland Road needs, along with the half finished hotel, crappy rehab place, torn down drive-in theater and the tattoo parlor is a couple of strip joints and a psychic reader to make it perfect.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
The tattoo place has been closed for a few years. They sell smokes now.

For the record, I didn't say anything about Soak City moving. Was just stating the area is large enough.
Soak City, where it sits, is in a perfect location and it completes the resort I feel. Moving it would be too expensive, and then you'd have land that would probably never end up being developed.
Wonder who might end up buying the airport though.
Even more reason to make it public space. There's already an impressive stretch there, from Sheldon Marsh to East Sandusky Bay, even down to Pipe Creek.

They could purchase it and use it to expand the park... and buld a ling floating bridge there a la geauga lake. There could be shows on the water abd a pier... for those who cant walk.. a ferry or paddlewheel to the other property
That would be a ridiculously long bridge.

I like Walt's idea the best. For all the years I live in Sandusky I always thought that would be a perfect plot of land for an amphitheater.Having the stage situated near the waters edge would allow for some awesome sunset concerts like at the Gorge Amphitheater in Washington. An amphitheater doesn't need a thriving neighborhood to function so it really wouldn't matter if that stretch of road is dead.
How about a gigantic parking garage with service to the park? Cedar Point is running out of room, they could totally expand into the parking lot.
It's my opinion that Cedar Point is every bit as big as it will ever need to get. It's already a huge and mature park with fantastic capacity. There's no sense in adding space--and therefore the number of attractions that have to be staffed and maintained--at its current stable attendance of 3 million or so.
