It's so parking lotty!

Sorry to bring up an old topic but from a tweet today from Tony I noticed a little construction going on in front of the Cedars dorms. Maybe this is the last of the onsite dorms. Looks like those bleachers that replaced Wildcat have been removed? Could be some development starting for next year? Those dorms are heinous and definitely aren't the best look for the resort guests driving back to Breakers or Lighthouse.
Yes. Also someone had mentioned earlier about Cedars leaving. If that were to happen, yes they have land to build new dorms, but they could “possibly” saving that land for a new hotel since Sandcastle Suites is gone. But not sure if they’d want two Cedar Point owned & operated hotels right on top of each other. But long story short: if Cedars does go, I bet they’d expand the Marina.

Expand the marina how? Add more parking? That would be welcome on that side as there is limited parking as is, but digging out the parking lot to expand the actual marina is never going to happen. That would be way more expensive then the return could ever be.
Removing the dorms would create a strange little plot of land. With Valraven and the updated Marina Gate they aren't going to push the park boundaries out to include it, Nothing could really be placed there. They could build a hotel, as has been talked about in another thread. Too be honest I'm not sure what the best use of that space would be when the dorms are removed.
Some basic non-ghetto temporary housing for those hard to staff weekends would be a start. My oldest will be 16 soon and he could be interested a couple of non-30 hour weekends in the spring or fall, but we are not going to pay $200 a night for a hotel room or drive 2.5 hours back and forth to CBus. They need to reach out to the population centers and make it convenient for all parties involved.
Those visas are harder to get these days unless you own a golf property and get to make the rules.
When I worked there you had to be 18 before you could stay in a dorm.
IIRC, of Ouimet’s original “things” was to move all housing off the peninsula. But remember, you have to build a new one somewhere before you can tear down the old one. So... not yet.
I like the idea of parking for that area. Marina parking as well as premium parking for guests. That would be real handy.
^ Can I up vote that x1000? The Marina pool is probably about 3 years away from needing real work done. Also the orientation is less than ideal with the big shade trees all around it.
Bay Harbour also needs a significant revamp as it is seeming pretty tired too.
Pete, I'm assuming you are in the water, how is the new gate setup working?
I am in the water. As of last Sunday, the card readers for the parking gates were not working yet and the gates were locked in the up position. The restrooms still had a keypad because the card readers have not yet been installed. You can find the code on a sign located on the inside fence close to the gate for the individual piers. I'm hoping everything in the new setup will be working this weekend but we shall see.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
