General Cedar Point Discussion 2025

I was at Knott’s recently and was surprised to see a Fridays, but it is indeed closed for good. It was part of the Marketplace area, and wasn’t inside the park itself. An employee told me it wasn’t very good and served mainly as a bar for park goers (and non-goers) to sit somewhere and get sloshed. It’s closure leaves Mrs. Knott’s Chicken Dinner restaurant as the only sit down place outside the park. They have also turned one of their dining rooms into a bar.

Is it true that Cedar Point releases cats at night to deal with the rodent problem?

Releases from… where? The cat dorm?

Cats, no. Camels, Yes.

Camels run loose, stroll Cedar Point theme park after enclosure escape

Then they corral the cats at the end of the night? The secret cat squad is known only to 5 or so top level employees. Don’t even ask a sweep, they have seen nothing, only rumors of a feline company of heroes. Last mechanic to report a cat sighting found himself changing lightbulbs at a Burger King.

Cedar Point uses neither cats nor camels to control the rodents. They let Mother Nature and her snakes take care of the problem. Not joking!

There use to be a lot of cats all over the park, and from what I was told, were welcomed for the most part. I remember a lot of them lived under the old sections of Breakers and it was common to see them coming and going if you walked the boardwalk a lot. Slowly over the years I saw less and less of them so I assume the park got rid of them.

There was an old park that released the cats,

Well fancy that! They released the cats,

They released the cats to catch the rats,

They released the rats to scare the emu,

That roams the midways and loiters and lingers,

Hoarding the hand-breaded chicken fingers,

They let out the emu to scare off the seagulls,

They brought the seagulls to eat the Friar's spilled fries,

I don't know why the Friar spilled fries.

Perhaps he'll die.

I wonder how the immigration and visa mess will impact international workers this season.

First ride; Magnum 1994

I think it'll be rough. Limited international workers combined with low wages means I think they'll struggle and it will be noticeable. I saw them advertise a bus to pick up workers from toledo and detroit at the beginning and end of the season. I don't remember that before.

Who knows what kind of mess we'll be in as the months go by as far as international relations. You'll have folks from overseas that can't come, those that will be afraid to come and others that simply won't out of protest over what is going on.

It comes down to that whole risk vs. reward thing. Free admission to Cedar Point vs. Ecuadorian Mega Prison, throw in an employee only ride night or 2 and I think that tips the scale.

Over the weekend, I noticed several groups of young Asians walking around the dorm area and downtown. I assume they're here on work visas.
I'm pretty sure they'll all be fine just as long as they entered the country legally and continue to obey the laws.

Unless they say something Dear Leader doesn't like, of course.

Looking at the webcams, the cabins for Giant Wheel still aren't on....seems really late compared to previous years that we haven't seen them up at this point.

^ Obviously the priority is making sure Skyride is running........

We've been dealing with quite a bit of high winds of late, it wouldn't surprise me that they are waiting for a break in the weather.

I saw a post on a CP FB group that Chickie's & Pete's is no more; if that is accurate, there is (at present) not a single table service restaurant in the park itself.

Girl: "l want to ride that yellow one again... Twisted Wicker"
Me: "It's a roller coaster, not a broken clothes hamper."

On a related note, there is not (at present) a single table dance restaurant in the park itself either. ;)
