Gatekeeper Bins

The bins are for necessary loose items, like hats and sunglasses. Souvenir cups are not in any way necessary.

They can also potentially spill and ruin someone's hat.

Hats and sunglasses are necessary?

To protect one's self from the sun, yes. Which I presume is the reasoning for the GK policy.

That may be, but I think they are on the same level of necessity as a souvenir cup.

That's asinine. Hat and sunglasses protect you from a legitimate health risk.

I never wear them and I'm just fine. If the sun looks intense, I put on sunscreen before going into the park. You could also argue that souvenir cups are used to keep you from dehydrating.

But that argument would be completely stupid, since you can get water from one of the many fountains throughout the park, no cup needed.

And different people react differently to the sun. I don't know why that has to be explained.

I wouldn't put on my mouth on those water fountains if you paid me. You don't know who or what touched them. I do get free water at stands sometimes. And some people may lose water faster than others and the cup would help with that issue.

Are you seriously comparing being without water for 10 minutes (water's allowed in line, just not in the station, after all) to baking in the sun for 2 hours?

Regarding cleanliness, I presume you also don't touch handrails, and you wear latex gloves when you ride? Because if you're afraid of the water fountains, you damn well better not be touching queue rails and ride restraints.

Souvenir cups aren't allowed in line or the station, and if you're there on a busy day that can be a long time without any liquids. I didn't buy a souvenir cup this year because I just find it cheaper to buy a drink in a throw away cup once a day than it is to rent lockers. And I get free water if I feel I need it. As for the restraints and handrails, I don't put my mouth on them. And I wash my hands or use sanitizer before eating. With that, I'm done with this topic.

It's a simple fact that guests crossing the train to gently place their belongings in a bin are going to be slower than guests who simply board the train. What I wish would happen would be a page out of Holiday World's book but a little more slick. Shortly before the station, place a series of lockers and bins. Make the lockers and bins accessible from the other side and simply make the exit path come right back by. Deal with that crap well before it becomes a problem, let guests hold onto their cell phones and other crap until they're right about to ride and even take another opportunity to sell a locker if you must scrap that part of the Holiday World plan. The person making sure the platform doesn't get too crowded should even be able to monitor the lockers and bins and direct people back down the stairs if they have continued to carry their stuff past the lockers.

Yeah, get the free water cups, much better than drinking someone else's slobber. Haven't touched a water fountain in years and I always was my hands before handling any food because of the restraints and queue rails.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Irrelevant. There's no rule preventing you from bringing water into GK's queue. You can plan your day so that no matter how busy the park is, you can consume plenty of water.

You could also use sunscreen and find areas where there is shade. Also if you need a hat and sunglasses to be in the sun then you really shouldn't be spending a day out in the sun. If you plan things out you can deal without having a hat and sunglasses while in line. Both items are a luxury not a necessity.

Luxury items? Really? Sunglasses and hats? Are clothes and shoes luxury items? They protect people's skin from the sun as well. And how awful that people want to protect themselves from harm.

Maybe you can, but I cannot. And there are people who are fairer-skinned than I.

And wear can I buy some of that eyeball sunscreen?

Brandon

Sounds like you have issues if you can't be out in the sun or plan to work around it. I feel kind of bad for you since you can't ride MF of Dragster since they don't have a place for your sunglasses and hat. If you need your sunglasses you could go out and buy a strap so you can safely ride with them. You don't need a bin for sunglasses or a hat just like you don't need one for a souvenir cup.

On MF, the restraints allow me to shove my hat down my shirt. On GK, the restraint would crush it.

Brandon

I love Disney's carry on policy.

I don't think I'm the only one to put my sandals in the bin.

However gross it may seem I have to admit I've been drinking from the fountains at CP for about 30 years and I'm still alive. Life in general tends to be kind of gross. Statistically speaking I think I'm in more danger from dehydration than water fountain cooties.
