The answer would be yes. Millennium was supposed to extend where the first turn around is. It was going to have a massive second hill, but it was cutting it too close to the petting zoo and thunder canyon. Maverick also had a longer layout extending towards Mean Streak and the pond hill going into the snake river falls pond and back.

Craig, since when do up-stop wheels "release the bars if the train left the track?" :)But, to answer your question, I don't believe, and highly doubt, there is any system that would instinctively release restraints if the train came off the track. With that being said, there appears to be a double-back-up on the trains. In this image you can see the metal that hangs over the top of the track. My guess is that this is partially there as a fail-safe, and also serves as a part of the wheel assembly. But that's just speculation.
Yes that is a failsafe stop. It's there to keep the assembly on the track in the unlikely event of a wheel failure.
Millennium's logo is meant to look like an "M," as in the first letter of the ride's name.

Some people say that but other people say its 2 hills. Whatever it is, its a cool logo.
Let's Get Weird.
I always thought the logo looked very similar to what the ride looks like when you look at it straight on across the bay.

Craig is right too. It covers both grounds. As for this mysterious 2nd hill some of you are speaking of, I don't think so.

Well, there's no evidence either way, so you really can't say. In fact, many rides at the park did not start out as the layout that they were built into. You never know.
Owner, Gould Photography.
Oh, I realize that completely. But, if you're basing the fact that the "2nd hill" was scrapped because it was "too close to Thunder Canyon and the Petting Zoo," that holds no validity alone. It's not like a barn and water ride sprung out of the ground one day and they were like, "ohh, wow, we can't do that 2nd hill anymore." So, until there's further evidence to support another theory, one would think that it's likely related to the "M" in the ride's name and/or the ride structure's profile. I'm just pointing out what holds the most validity.

Every ride had many layouts before the actual final design is chosen. Some of the construction tour photos of Maverick showed that a dual station was originally planned for the ride, but was later made to be a single station.
Many stories have been told about Millennium Force. Back in 1998 I believe CP knew they wanted to go above 300 feet so they approached a variety of manufacturers to see how they could fit it in. B&M apparently opted out because they didn't want to go that high and a couple others weren't able to fit a lift hill that size into the relatively small footprint. Intamin had the solution with its cable lift system and they were chosen for the design.

^Who are you referring to? Are you talking to Maverick95'or Craig? Because there's already news out about S&S taking the speed record (see quote below). And what Craig said is common knowledge as Cedar Point has, themselves, talked about the planning stages of Millennium, Dragster and Maverick.
(1/29/08) According to Coastersandmore.de, S&S Power will be building a next generation version of their Thrust Air 2000 coaster concept that hopes to take the world speed record for fastest coaster. The location couldn’t be more fitting as apparently the launched coaster will be installed at the world famous Nuerburgring race track in Nurburg, Germany. They say that the coaster will launch riders to 217kph (135mph) in just 2.5 seconds. The current record holder is Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure which takes 3.5 seconds to hit a top speed of 128mph. The translation is a little rough, but the experience is described as more “dragster” than “coaster” since it sounds like it wont feature any big hills or tight helixes, only an incline into a heavily banked turn to run the track behind the grandstands to burn off some of the speed before you hit the brakes and enter a 500 meter long uneventful return trip back to the station. Unlike the previous Thrust Air coasters, this one will use a round coaster style track system and not the large I-beam tracks used previously.

I can see PKevin2004's point on being hush hush about everything now, but the S & S coaster news has been out for 2 weeks now and i don't think Cedar Point would care it's not going there.......

I understand about being hush hush on certian things (future developments and stuff), but so far I havn't read anything of great hush hushness.......that or I've missed something.

I'm a little confused myself. If you're talking about my post, I got that information from a news article or interview a while back. I want to say either right after MF opened or was announced. It's a known fact.
As for the massive second hill on MF. That is entirely wishful thinking in my eyes. Just like a second hill on TTD.

Okay! I'm bringing this back to the fun facts topic! :)
There are some of my many fun facts :)
So stoked for 2010 :]

It's funny how a lot of people have a song that reminds of the long drive to the park. I have many.
Kind of obvious, but I don't believe you can be anywhere on property without seeing at least one trash can. Most cases you see five to ten.
Why people still litter is beyond me.

I know! I saw this kid just throw his corndog thing on the ground and that trash can was like right there like 2 steps away!
Some people these days...
Another fun fact!
While riding the Cedar Creek Mine Ride in the 2006 season, I came across a worker who's name was Eduardo and he was from Ecuador. I thought that was the most awesome thing ever :)
So stoked for 2010 :]

I am wondering if anyone else has ever heard this...
I've heard in some initial plans for Mantis that all of the track after the MCBR was going to be inside a building. This building would be mostly dark has would have different effects.
I've heard this from a couple of people but I cannot find anything on it. I dont think it is true, but it would have made Mantis a lot more interesting!
