Front Gate Destruction/Construction

Construction can go on 24/7 if need be. Just take a look at how fast they are building Transformers in Orlando. (Yes, I know it is different budgets!)

Thanks Adam, I didn't think they worked on a Sunday. I didn't think any construction company worked on Sunday. That really confused me.

Construction workers do work Sundays. My husband is an electrician and he worked this past Sunday. Its double time for him, so expensive for the company...but not unheard of in any means.

And totally unnecessary at CP since the ride doesn't have to be ready until May.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I'm so glad to see the ugly sieve pavilions come down, yet i always loved to eat lunch and see the blue streak. Does anyone know if a new pavilion will replace the old one?

I always loved the changing marquee on the front gate that advertised whatever was new that season.... It'd be cool if the park could continue that tradition in some way with the new entrance plaza....

^ They won't really need to do that for the 2013 season because the new thing will actually be going over the front gate. :)

You give people too much credit. They can put the LCD screen back on the entrance, play the gatekeeper video and people will still say, "I wonder where that is in the park."

I suppose there will be some question as to where to get onto the ride.

Well, yeah. But, that wasn't my point.

Not all the pavilions are coming down. I believe only two or 3 of them are. The ones to the right of Blue Streak's turnaround should still be there next year.

Looking at the construction webcam today (1st time in a while), I noticed the entire front walk up ticket booths are totally gone! You can now see the 2nd gate (tickets/season pass scanning booths that were behind them. That will probably also be removed shortly I'm guessing.
Also noticed the entire "picinc" part of the shelter (next to the main gate bathrooms on the right side) is also gone now with just the attached stroller rental (?) area next to it remaining. It looks better already. Now if they can just cover up the front part of the yellow triangle (on top of bathrooms) by May, we'll be all set.

Just got back from Dollywood's Christmas in the Smokies... Obviously rode Wild Eagle--- what a blast! We are in for a treat!!!!

Side note--- when are we going to start getting
Some more creative attractions like Mystery Mine, etc. I know Cedar Point does well--- but future generations are looking for more interactions and backstory.... Mystery Mine was actually the best part of the day ;) AND although River Battle was closed--- it's another example of how the park totally screwed up with Shoot the Rapids...

Cedar point or cedar fair for that matter will never do anything involving a back story. They have already tried that and now that's history...

Well that may change with a CEO who comes from the park that started attractions with "back stories" ;)

Cedar Point needs its charm back. Dollywood was simply charming- and they only have six coasters! I am hoping Gatekeeper is the last mega steel super coaster we get--- I'm ready for international festivals, craft fairs down frontier trail, food served from huge cast iron skillets, (more trees) better shows---- and.... A DARK RIDE ;) and I don't mind losing one or two or five coasters in the process.... (don't hit me- visit Dollywood first :) )

I would love more theme rides but come on. Cedar Point is known for its coasters, unlike Dollywood.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

This won't be The Point's last "mega steel super coaster."

From the looks of the webcam, the booths are now gone. I don't know If other people have brought it up yet or not, but the main gate is now history.

I can still see the main gate :)

^ You are right- in further discussion we need to specify TICKET BOOTHS (which are no more) and MAIN GATE (which is still standing)
