Does anybody else notice that mantis is more quieter than it was back in may, the howel is not as loud, anybody else notice this.
I noticed that too. Thought it was just my imagination. Mantis was SO LOUD in May but when I was there 2 weeks ago it wasn't.
One of my favorite CP sounds is when I'm walking down the midway and a coaster zooms by and I hear all the yells and screams from everyone riding. I love that. But the best sound at CP-hands down-is the playing of the National Anthem. Not only for patriotic reasons, but also because that means it is just the very beginning of what is more than likely going to be a fantastic...er, I mean, cedar-fantastic day.
the sound of raptor going through the entire track, especially the vertical loop. i can tell you what part of the track the train is from anywhere in the front of the park, just listen for the distinctive sounds of the vertical loop and the cobra roll and the zero-g roll! but i especially love that moment of quiet when the train's right at the top of the vertical loop!

Hearing "Hawaii 5-0" playing while watching the Gemini coasters race. A perfect combination.
The sound of Skyhawk as the arms start up.
The roar of Raptor as you pass under it on the way to Blue Streak.
The bell ringing as Space Spiral comes down.
The sounds that come out of the Disaster Transport Building.
The clank and crash of Demon Drop.
The trumpet fanfare right before Cedar Downs starts.
The putter of the Turnpike Cars.
And of course the sound of a Dragster Launch.
I love the fact that no matter where I am on Frontier Trail, when I hear a distant scream above me, I know another train is going over the top on Millennium Force. I stood under the overbank taking quite a few pictures this summer, and I'm not sure why, but the fact you could hear all those people screaming so clearly from down there amused me.
Mantis/Raptor are another favorite of mine. My mother (her first time to Cedar Point this summer) was sitting on Frontier Trail and was wondering why she kept thinking she heard jets. I had to explain that was Mantis she was hearing nearby. :-P

those big rollers winning near the hydrawlic building
Is there a race?
I absolutely love the sound of Raptor. Its just one of those unmistakable sounds.
I also love the launch of WT, especially as you creep closer and closer to the station. It reminds you of how close you are to riding.
Then there is just the crowd noise. Being back in LHP for a mid-day break from the crowds and being able to hear the screams from MF is awesome as well.
Then there is the anti-rollback clack. Every coaster has it. Even on MF its that silence that stands out. On Magnum is the metallic echo. On Raptor its the deafening noise from above. Each one with their own lift noise.

I'm not sure it's my favorite, but Skyhawk sounds exactly like tripods from the recent War of the Worlds - thats awesome
Wow... now that you think about it.. thats so true. Funny
TTD launching
Mantis' Roar
Magnum's chain letting go at the top

My favorite is the sound effect of the screeching tire's when a Dragster train takes off. I like how it fades out in the middle a little then ends with a big, "Whoooumppp" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KCH_QPevr9M (the sound is at the time 1 min 6 sec to 1 min 7 sec) It used to be so loud that I could hear it from Mantis but you can barely hear it now. *** Edited 10/5/2006 9:32:55 PM UTC by ttdboy111***
1)TTD 2)MF 3)Magnum 4)WT 5)Raptor
Well the sounds I like are, walking up to the main gate and hearing Raptor flying and roaring throw its loop. Walking by Mantis hearing the train roaring by, going upside down. Top Thrill Dragster as it speeds by you, and Magnum load lift hill.
Quote from a Corkscrew ride op, "And Dragster is down again"
