There house on big big hill. ;)

There are no houses on the causeway. Do you even know what a causeway is? Apparently not, since you can't seem to figure out what a peninsula is.

Does anyone special live in those houses.
Or are they just ordinary people who are lucky to go outside and get a 24/7/365 view of Cedar Point. Which if you think about it, they would also have 1st (well ok not 1st) hand knowledge of new rides coming by seeing suspicious looking transport trucks that could possibly be carrying the next worlds tallest and fastest rollercoaster. *** Edited 3/5/2005 4:37:02 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

If you are asking about the houses on the other side of the peninsula shown here (bottom-center). I'm pretty sure Dick Kinzel (President/CEO) lives in the last one.

Cedar point was an island at one time, coming close to touching the ohio mainland, but not officially touching. With two causeaway's built that let traffic to the island, that represents fire island, they built bridges to let boat traffic underneath. CP sits on a peninsula of an island, making cp surrounded by water on only 3 sides, but also sitting on an island.

I hope this clarifies some 'confusion'

Where is this second causeway you're talking about? Jeff already linked the picture of the peninsula CP sits on. If you really want to get technical you can say North and South America are islands making CP what you call a peninsula on an island, but why would you want to.

Plain and simple, there has always been, since the last ice age, a very small stretch of land connecting the park to the main land of Ohio. A causeway was built in the 50s or 60s for a better flow of traffic to the park and it cuts a lot time off of the people coming from the west.

It would be so crappy to live anywhere near CP. The traffic would never stop during the summer and Sandusky gets so boring during the winter.

TTD 120mph's avatar

I dont think traffic would be a problem. CP dosn't exactly run 24hrs causing nonstop traffic. If anything, traffic is steady/dispersed around the Sandusky area. That's not to say that Sandusky dosn't get traffic which I'm sure it does.

And if Sandusky is so boring during the winter, then what city is, Yours?, or mine?

I live next to the water too and there's nothing to do here either. Not alot of cities are fun all year round. Winter is something we all have to cope with....that is if you're lucky enough to live somewhere there's no winter or snow like Florida. *** Edited 3/5/2005 5:31:28 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

No, I've never seen any traffic like when they kick everybody out of the park. Sandusky dies during the winter. Most of the resturants shut down, the hotels close. It is like a wasteland during the winter. My city at least the resturants stay open.

That's not true at all. There's still 75,000+ people who live in and around Sandusky. The vast majority of restaurants stay open and still do a brisk business. A lot of the hotels are even open year-round.

Saturday evening, middle of February, you'll be waiting 15 minutes to get into any restaurant on Rt. 250. Is February quieter than July? No doubt. But not dead by any stretch of the imagination.

I can imagine traffic being bad after closing. But dont forget about all the water parks that attract winter crowds that are now in the Sandusky area. There's Castaway Bay, Great Wolf Lodge, and the really big one (Sahara I think) that will be opening towards the end of the year. I wouldnt say that it increases traffic, but it definitly brings in tourism during the winter.
So I wouldnt go off and say that Sandusky is "dead" during the winter if you dont live there.

Yeah, true I forgot about the waterparks. The last time I went up to Sandusky was about 5 years ago before the parks. During that time it was dead. Of course, we stayed on resturant row it seemed like and most closed during thw winter, 5 years ago.

Oh, well ok. No harm done. :)

Yes, but cp is a different story than continents, 'mr. gomez' maybe you should take a sizeability quiz. lets think a little more common sence.

Think of a theme park on the small island of Lanai in hawaii. Suppose we were on a small peninsula jutting out from the tiny island. It's a peninsula on an island. Don't compare it to north america, compare it to hawaii, a more sizeable number. Don't exagerate, CP is on a peninsula, on an island, that has two causeaway's leading to the island, one leads directly into cp, the other towards the other end of the island.

And jeff, your not helping

Can I see a picture of this Island? I don't remember crossing a body of water to get to CP.

Tell me this, what does this arguing accomplish? If you think its an island... fine. If you think its a peninsula...fine.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Please close this thread, it's so annoying I think I need a valium now. It was stupid when it was made and it gets worse by the day.

One of my officemates in graduate school gave me what is, to this day, the best wedding gift I've ever seen. The gift had two parts. The first was a copy of the Britannica Concise Encyclopeadia. Attached to it was a note: "Use this to resolve disagreements concerning matters of fact." The second was a picture frame, with a spinner mounted on cardboard divided into four sections. The top said "spin again". The left said "Brian is right." The right said "Maureen is right." The bottom said "Both right---work it out." Attached to this was a note: "Use this to resolve disagreements concerning matters of opinion."

The best part? The needle was weighted, so it always ended up pointing at "work it out."

You liked that better than the blender I sent Brian? I'm hurt. ;)

huh????????
