Leslie,
Yes, and i don't think i've had a hangover in my life that quite touches the headache i have after MS.
Bless those poor Son of Beast souls as well
haha!
Don't let up on the lovin'
I've never been on the Beast, let alone The Son of the Beast. I'm assuming that it's as rough as the Mean Streak?

The flat twisted piece will be used at the end of the turn (after the second inversion) where it enters between the parrallel uprights.

Capture - The wingwalker idea also is not probable at this point. Actually, I could probably say its not even possible. Take a look at the proximity of the track to the vertical supports and/or the ground. A train with the "wingspan" of those trains just will not fit there.
Maybe next coaster? :)
i'm getting ready to totally do a Nancy Drew & figure out what this dang coaster's gonna be.

sunfire, just to back you up, here's the supports you were talking about. http://www.pointpixels.com/4images/details.php?image_id=7995
that's most likely where the "flat track" is going.
Halltd,
Are you talking about the lower supports?
"THE Top Thrill Dragster...THE Millennium Force...THE Wicked Twister...THE Magnum! How do you like those apples?!?!?"
Yes, the tri-track will end at the round flange and the 2-rail track will start at the square flanges. I believe the ride will encounter its second LIM-launch after the track levels out there. We shall see in a day or so.

I have to see it when it's up, because I don't have a clue what you guys are talking about (i.e. round flange).
I feel like I'm looking at an episode of Friends when Phoebe says Regina Falange!

See the round piece of steel on top of the post 12 holes in it? Thats the round flange. The square piece of steel with 4 holes in it is the square flange.

Oh. Okay.
I'm thinking too much with work stuff that I have in front of me. I didn't know it was called a flange.

The taller supports are (I think) for the station and then the lift. The track now entering that area is going to go under the "station" and also the lift hill. Then again, I'm still not positive where the "station" is and/or what its going to look like. The area right there with the bazillion footings doesn't appear large enough to me for a station. Then again, Magnum's station isn't all that big.
If you look at the aerial (http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m193/zbus12/mkmav.jpg), you can see a diagonal straight line of footings leading back to the midway. This is where I believe the train will return to the station at the end of the course.
Yeah, you can see it really good in that aerial.
Being that the supports seem so close together, I wonder if the possibility of a different type of train isn't far-fetched.
But we can't really see how far/ close it is from pictures alone. We have to see it in person. Camera shots don't exactly work for good depth perception.
EDIT: How many of us put our arms down when we go down that one hill on the Gemini?

New to the boards ... but a huge Cedar Point fan nonetheless ...
Regarding the dismantling of Mean Streak to make way for the new coaster ... weren't there rumors at one time that CP was thinking about tearing down MS to make way for a new coaster? I thought I remembered that being mentioned somewhere.
If that were true, maybe CP is waiting until the season ends before tearing it down (how long would it take to dismantle and remove it before building the new coaster?).
Perhaps, what's been built so far is the second portion of the coaster ... which could explain why the hills are not so high. Maybe the larger portion of the ride will be where Mean Streak currently resides.
I don't know, just wondering.
Also, I see a lot you guys are Tiger fans. Best of luck down the home stretch. I am a big Yankee fan from New York ... looking forward to a possible playoff showdown with you guys in October.
^ There were rumors, but nothing more. I won't believe CP taking out a coaster until I see it. Each one has its own place in the history of the park. Its a shame we've lost the ones that we have.
Goodbye MrScott

New York Stu: I think those were just what you said about the Mean Streak: just rumors. I don't like getting on it myself, but it is an important enough coaster to keep. And it looks very nice for the skyline! ;-)
Awe man. Tigers are struggling. :-(

Not to mention how dumb would cf look to the general public, put a sign up declaring it to be a top ten wooden coaster, just to tear it down a few months later?
Platinum has it's perks. So does living exactly 97.5 miles from King's Island and Cedar Point
Right. It wouldn't make sense.
But that Blue Streak hurts more than the Mean Streak. It hurts me...but it does have good little airtime hills.

Do you pay attention to wether or not your sitting in a wheel seat?
