So I made the mistake of purchasing the on-ride DVD of our ride on Raptor yesterday.
You get about 35 seconds of actual on-ride footage. While the footage is cool there are issues.
First your footage is mixed in with stock footage of other parks and other rides. It starts with a Cedar Point logo over stock footage of what I think is the Valley Fair park entrance. Then they show us climbing Raptors hill. Then stock footage that says "our ride" and it shows some completely different ride.
Then it shows about 5 seconds of us going down the hill and through the first loop and barrel roll. Then more stock footage that says "our fear."
This continues for about two minutes with small clips of us riding.
Needless to say the whole thing is disappointing. I plan on writing the proper people and pitching my bitch at the them. This is a total let down. Not a single CP ride is shown.
They sure looked like they are wireless, but I couldn't tell for sure. I thought the video that they show on the monitors in the photo building looked pretty cool and was pretty high quality. Sounds like the DVD isn't so hot though.
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
So, they're not even taking your picture with the original on-ride photo system, it's still images taken from the new system? Is the quality as good, worse, better?

the quality is better, considering you can pick what pic you want and it is in front of you and not on teh side where it sometimes misses people.
The DVD is horrible, it is exactly what they said. 20 dollars was way too much, and along wiht that, we got an extra copy for 10, but it was a blank disc. Probably one of the most disappointing things I have ever bought. It was just showing little kids ride other rides, and then throwing in a few seconds of parts of Raptor. Ridiculous that Cedar Point put this in instead, at least the photos weren't of a different ride.
CDRide.info:
The CDride system captures dynamic videos of every rider in every car from the moment the train leaves the station through all the thrilling experience to the end of the ride. Once the guests exit the ride they can buy their personal DVD at the Point of Sale. The riders get not just a point of view video, but a full-featured movie with edited clips of the ride atmosphere.
It's interesting to me that's somewhat the way it's advertised on their website. Apparently other rides and parks are considered to be part of the atmostphere?
Maybe they bought the demo version. ;)
