My favorite theme involves a wrecking ball and an expanded beach.
I am in favor of replacing it with a small dark air-conditioned room with blacklights and neon paint. The room would just have a queue line in it that leads to a 10' spiral slide at the end. People would never know DT was gone and it would open so much space!
Instead of changing the theme of DT why not change the location of the ride. I hear that Geauga Lake has some extra space this year. It will be where nobody will see it or miss it.
What do you think?

Handle every stressful situation like a dog. If you can't eat it or hump it.
Piss on it and walk away.
Because GL doesn't need more rides. Cedar Point isn't removing rides because there aren't enough, they are removing them because Six Flags made a complete ClusterPuck of the park.

That area has the POTENTIAL to be one of the most beautiful spots on the peninsula. The building is just an ugly obstacle to that potential.
I agree with you on the beautiful part. Unfortunately, that building is here to stay for a while. Unbeknownst to many people, there are several other operations that occur in the building.

CP should try stacking rides to free up space... They could totally fit Ocean Motion and Demon Drop on top of the DT building! And it would make those rides much more thrilling.
(I'm sure the structure wouldn't be able to take the load... but I can always hope, right?)

Seriously people. Tear the dumb thing down.
My guess? Kinzel admits it was one of his top 2 dumbest moves ever, and it was his first...and my thought is that removing it will be his last achievement.
I have said it before, I would literally donate a lot of money to help tear it down if it was a financial thing. I would give a kidney.
It's so frickin embarassing to have that monstrosity at the park I love.

Cedar Point is proud of the fact that they now have 17 coasters. They will keep DT as long as it will still work, just to keep the coaster count up. *** Edited 7/24/2007 10:52:45 PM UTC by sarah1***

I'm sure they are not worried about their coaster count. They may keep it up because, although it's ugly, it has a good ridership. Or it may just be a financial problem. I believe it is embarrassing also and I would probably celebrate if Dick Kinzel decided to tear it down.

I've said this over and over again in other DT threads. DT is a great starter coaster for new riders.
Yes, there's JG and WE, but that doesn't cater to adults.
I don't personally count WT as a coaster, and CCMR should be a kiddie coaster. So, that leaves ID and DT as the only two logical starting coasters for adults.
One may argue BS as a starter coaster, but that thing can pack a punch as can WC.
I think the problem many of you are experiencing is that you have graduated from "starter coaster school" and are anxious for the next bigger and better thing.

Ok undersatnd sarah1 is right Cp isn't gonna get rid of DT until it blows up becuase cp isn't stupid they get rid of it then they have to build !2! new coasters to get to 18 coasters becuase if they take it down they will have 16 and C P is oviously know as the park with the most coasters. It would be a terrible marketing move to take it out and Bad PR about CP would sky rocket so the solution is jus update it. Cp isn't Disney, they havent recently and prolly never agian will they build a themed anyhting. So the solution is to update the COASTER not the ride. The Coaster has been the same since avalanch run. What they need to do is to just simply replace the tabagon with a Steel Tube Coaster and keep everything else including the theme the same! And if its the building that bothers you, your not the only one but i had a freind that worked at CP and he told me the building isn't just the ride thats y there are so many "trap doors" in the QUE LINE they hold dorms and locker rooms and other storage faciltys for the workers. ( at least they used to that was before Dragster when he worked there)
that also a good point campfreak 06 often "easy rides " r looked at as Kidde Rides or jus DUMB rides but us enthusist often forget not every one is what we are so campfreak does have a very intersting and good point
^^ Dorms in the DT building? Now THAT'S a new one.
Sure, CP cares a little about their coaster record. But, if it makes financial sense for them to take out DT, they will. Everyone claimed SFMM was concerned about their coaster count and they just tore out two coasters. Records are great for marketing. But, they're not going to let a silly record hinder future development.
All I say if they do Demolish the Stadium and take out the DT and DD. Then all the Rides and the Playground that are now around by the Stadium can be taken over at that area then there will be COASTER. Then after that thought they can think of another COASTER by the MANTIS or somewhere else in the PARK.
I think the problem many of you are experiencing is that you have graduated from "starter coaster school" and are anxious for the next bigger and better thing.
Actually, my first daughter is on the way, and I hope she never sees Disaster Transport.
I care about the park, not a coaster record or anxiety from riding a bigger coaster.
In fact, it would be nice is they made a nice boardwalk there, and maybe a flat.
You cannot honestly tell me that having a warehouse on the beach is pleasing to the eye.
And if you can...well...your opinion is just wrong. :)

I just figured The Transformers theme would of been decent but I didn't think about the ownership aspect of this...But maybe some type of new DT theme or..... "eventually" new ride could replace DT sooner than later?
Just hope it is a "Flying" coaster over Lake Erie and the Beach and get really close to the water too! Sounds like a winner to me?
DT is like Flight of Fear only worse. And Flight of Fear was bad from the start.
Disaster Transport 2012
DT is not going anywhere for a while, it's a pretty popular ride and Cedar Point would have to take 2 years to put a coaster in it's place and that would mean one year of 16 coasters and I'm sure CP does not want to do that.
How about they theme it to a bobsled! You know, add some fake mountains with fake snow on it and act like it is one of those bobsled sport things. I think they might be in the winter olympics or something. It would be something that would be fun and it wouldn't die out. And the dark sections could be themed as mountain tunnels.
