Disappointment

OldCper - I don't think that it's length will affect the GP's opinion of the ride. They'll probably think "Wow! A 400ft. roller coaster! Let's ride it!". WT was only 200ft., and though it was the first of it's kind, most people probably though of it as S:UE with an extra twist.

My husband considers himself GP, and said he will ride it once, but unless it's "damned exciting" he's not going to wait in line to ride it again. To him, waiting over an hour for a 2 minute ride is long enough, but waiting over an hour for a ride that is very short isn't worth it. He'd rather wait for MF.

I have to agree with OldCPer and totally diasagree with PlayerPunk89. While visiting with friends who live in Cleveland this week, I told them about Project 2003 (they had no clue). They were stoked, when they heard about the possible stats. Then, I showed them the construction pics and the video of what the ride *may* look like.

There exact words after seeing the video - *thats it*

My friends are all in their 20s, and clearly fall into the GP catagory. When you say or clasify a ride as a roller coaster, especially continuous circuit, you dont expect it to go up and down once, and then return to the station (regardless of the height or speed).

Everyone will want to ride it once, the question is how long will you wait and how often will you want to ride it. It will be very interesting to watch the *staying* power of this ride, and the GP reaction to it.

I guess I'm still trying to come up with a logical conlcusion about that.

Tom - You have a good point but you have to remember that that is only two people.

Anyways, I don't think that the GP will pass a the world's first 400ft. roller coaster.

I know - you cant drawn any conclusions from a 2 person sample - I just thought there comments were interesting. The name and marketing of this ride will help paint a complete picture to the GP.

I think there is a very good chance that there will be multiple elements on top of the tower. We are seeing the launch and brake run now, but we have no clue as to the track layout as the track climbs. There is every indication that the tophat track will be supported directly by the structure, unlike Xcellerator. Why spend the extra money for the steel to do this? IMHO, it's because the tower will need to be that high to support the additional elements on top. This is also the reason for the one large tower instead of the two smaller towers. I'm of course just guessing, but I think that CP has a surprise in store for us!

Florida may have Disneyworld and Key West,
but Ohio has Cedar Point and Put-In-Bay.
It's great to live in Ohio!

Playerpunk...if you add my husband and son into the mix, you've got 4 people. I'm not saying people are not going to ride if it's all speed and height...up and down (whether it has twisting elements or not).

I just think of the people who are not going to be afraid to ride it, many (not all) will only ride it once and not bother with waiting in a long line for a short ride. I have no doubt it could be the most popular coaster for 2003...I'm just not sure yet if it will have the lasting power of some of the other coasters, including MF.

Hey people, Let me just say any coaster is a good coaster. I live in Fl. We have The Hulk, Duelling Dragons, Kraken, Montu, Kumba,Gwazi Lion & Tiger. All are killer rides. I have ridden MF 6 times. Once in the front. This new coaster (whatever it may be...400 Feet?) will be a killer ride also. So just Get on and hold on tight. It's gonna be wild...
Oh I forgot the Aerosmith Rockin' Rollercoaster. 0 to 60 in less than 3 seconds. WHAT A RUSH
*ahem* The official name is Rock-n-Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith.

I stand corrected. Thanks for the insight...
Don't forget the Dania Beach Hurricane. This a little known coaster outside of South Florida but it is a pretty impressive ride. All day rides for $10 ain't too shabby either.
I just came to a realization! If the GP just thinks "That's it" and doesn't ride it, there will be shorted lines! Kepp those statistics coming!
