coolkid, I'm referring to building more family coasters. While I was brave enough to jump right from Junior gemini to gemini, I know a lot of kids need that transition zone. Wildcat, DT, and Iron dragon were the three family coasters that acted as that transition. Now that two of the three are gone, it's something I would say we need as opposed to something we should have.Even if it's all about money, it's really more than that. They're now in a position where they're catering to either the major thrill seekers or the very young, there needs to be more rides that include the zone in between, especially now that we lost two of them.
This is exactly the right reason to keep those coasters. Iron Dragon and Mine Ride are now going to be the true intermediate coasters at Cedar Point. It took me years to get the gumption to ride the "big ones.". I rode Iron Dragon, Mine Ride, and Disaster Transport over and over again until the day when I was finally pushed on Gemini. I was fine from then on.
^Right, and I was wondering what was so wrong about adding to the collection now that we've lost two of the best ones (especially considering Mineride sucks, so really it's only Iron Dragon and Blue Streak now, and the people who survive the concussions from Mineride and want to ride again).
It's nothing that affects me personally, so I really don't want to worry about it anymore. I was just saying that if I were them, and I observed the loss of two great tame coasters, I'd want to make up for it before kids begin realizing they've lost about half of what they ride, coaster wise.
On the flip side, I know if I found out that wing coaster we were getting was a tame coaster I might be a little mad. Which is why I think a tame coaster would be perfect to build in the shadow (as in, within the next few years) of the hype of a major coaster, like the one we're getting.

There is nothing wrong at all about adding to the collection. I hope it's going to be an awesome new coaster.
I like the whole survive concussions from CCMR. Man, I gotta go to bed to heal my concussion from reading your posts.
There's nothing wrong with my posts, minus the spelling errors caused by my poor typing skills, haha.
You're acting like I'm some sort of idiot for thinking that building a tame coaster is a good idea, just because you don't think they'd do it for money purposes. Like I said in another thread, when I was a kid roller coasters I could actually ride were a huge deal for me. Why do you think everyone's crying over disaster transport? It meant a lot to a lot of people because they grew up with that ride, or because their kids did, and so on and so forth. Tame roller coasters create so many memories, they're the gateway to riding bigger roller coasters, they're so important for kids, even more than "flat" family rides. Even though it might not be important to any of us anymore, it really is to the younger generation. It's important, too, to build quality tame rides that encourage kids to ride larger ones, the better the experience on the tame ride the more likely they are to ride the bigger ones. Wildcat and DT were perfect tame rides, and now that they're gone CP has a void that can't be filled by some scooby doo shooter game, or some spinning tea cup ride.
We have Iron dragon, and Mine ride. Iron dragon may be good, but Mine ride is a little on the rough side (I'll tone down my bashing towards that ride, as I don't want to offend you anymore). That leaves kids with Iron dragon and Mine ride if they can handle the toughness. It's not a whole lot of variety for them, I know I wouldn't be very happy if CP just had 2 large coasters, and the same can be said when you think about the tame ones.

The park needs family attractions, not family coasters.
What would you be talking about? Aquariums? Live shows? Another childrens area? Dark ride? In all seriousness what attractions do you think are most logical to accomodate families. A family coaster or "transition coaster" is the first thing I think of when it comes to this topic.
Titandwedebil, I'm just messing with you about your posts. Everybody has their right to their own opinions, whether they are right out wrong. You keep talking about transition coasters, when I was young the transition coaster for me was CCMR. I had no choices until the year Gemini was built and I was tall enough to ride that along with everything else.
Then again, I'm just old.

Anything that the family can ride together. That is, something with a low or non-existent minimum rider height, that can also accommodate full grown adults. A dark ride would be a great place to start, and is probably the most obvious.
A family coaster or "transition coaster" is the first thing I think of when it comes to this topic.
And CP already has a few of those. That is, if we're going by the definition established in this conversation. Why add more of the same when some variety is so desperately needed?

People complain about everything, and that behavior is not evidence for anything.
It seems to me that the park needs a variety of family attractions more than it needs to simply add more of what it already has. I'm not sure why you're so focused on "transitional coasters" when the park already has a couple. Why not add something that offers actual variety (like a dark ride)?

But DJ, they want a thrilling family rollercoaster with the same loose height restrictions. In my years of going to multiple parks across the World I haven't seen many roller coasters that fit that bill.

I don't disagree that "they" want that. I just disagree that CP's focus should be on coasters. As much as I love coasters, CP probably has enough, for now. There are more obvious holes in their attraction lineup, in my opinion.

I 110% agree with you on this subject.

No. Cedar Point has lost their Coaster Capitol of the World. They very well might lose their golden ticket for best park. They need to put coasters in to secure their spot.

All they have to do is put money up to secure their spot for the Golden Tickets. Do coaster counts matter that much to you?

Coasters are everything. They need coasters for the ticket.

You know, the logo of almost EVERY park in the WORLD is a ROLLER COASTER. Hmm...

I wonder if Coaster Boi is even aware of the shops, shows, food stands, and small rides in the park or if he thinks those things are just obstacles in his way of the coasters
Cedar Point Logo (hint, not a coaster)
Six Flags Logo (Still not a coaster)
Holiday World (Nope)
Luna Park at Coney Island (Nope)
Kings Island (Still Nope)
Maybe some non US parks use a coaster
Alton Towers[url][url](or not)
DubaiLand (still nope)
It kinda looks like NO ONE uses a coaster as their logo.
