Rae, I think you'll find that many of us here know our Cedar Point history quite well.

It was on March 28, 1960, that the Sandusky Register reported that Cedar Point management had confirmed plans "to transform the point into a 'Disneyland' amusement center."

It seems that's what most parks set out to do. Kings Island and Carowinds made it clear that Disneyland was the endgame. Unfortunately both parks have veered off course since then.

They were referring to the whole park. Plus, it seems like it was meant to have a metaphorical meaning. They wanted to mirror what Disney did and make CP the type of tourist attraction that Disney is/was at that time.

And this went both ways, by the way. As the story goes, Disney was inspired for their own Pirate Ride by Cedar Point's (even though I don't believe Cedar Point was this ride's first home).

Yes, it was metaphorical. The only Disney of the North was going to be on Civil War land. :) But that's when I was a tiny tot.

This. And I think it's worth reminding people that Cedar Point still has more roller coasters than almost every other amusement park in the world. Is that seriously not good enough? I'm not sure if I've even been on every coaster in the same day, and having more wouldn't increase the likelihood of that happening.

Not to mention add MORE of a burden on the maintenance staff.

I think adding dinosaurs to CP is a good idea (personally I dont care about the attraction but its not for me) this way a teacher or school would be more likely to allow a feild trip to CP if at some point durning the day that go through DA as an educational trip and allow the kids to ride rides the rest of the day. everyone in that case ends happy.

Doesn't everyone know that Dinosaurs are extinct, for a reason.

So billionaires can clone them and put them on an island of course.

I think the dinos for the relatively small investment will be a big success. I saw it at KI last year and I was pretty impressed by the layout, theming and dinos themselves. What made it even better though was the 3D movie which CP wont have. I look forward to going through the attraction at CP but I dont forsee myself doing it a second time. I also do forsee myself taking part in the gratuitous merchandising that will also surely happen. Theyll probably make an extra $50 off me this year and if just a fraction of the GP does this as well, it will result in big money.

Quit it HSBR. Much like pre-season rankings, the status-quo here is to universally bash everything before ever seeing it or experiencing it first-hand.

This is why Fast Lane has already ruined Cedar Point, the food sucks again this year, and why dinos on the island has already ruined everyone's Millennium Force experience, not to mention how poorly they designed it.

By the way, Kings Island has now made that movie free :)

Don't Waste your MONEY, like they show on the news. Just ride the Big Rides and you will see the Dinosaurs. This was a BAD ADDITION to Cedar Point and the other Cedar Fair Parks too. Plus using more MONEY for the FAST LANE. The people that can't afford the FAST LANE will have to wait longer on the RIDES. Now I don't really understand how the FAST LANE really works?

Why do you WRITE like a star wars opening scroll? It's a BIT weird, and slightly disconcerting. But, to EACH his OWN.

My problem with Dinosaurs is the $5. It's like charging $5 extra to ride the train, go through a haunted house, or to walk through frontier town. I know people will pay it, and they will make money, but I feel like it is now one of the few family attractions and it's extra. SeaWorld Orlando just recently stopped charging for the tower, I used to work it and they made a killing, but I can't tell you how many guests complained "I paid $80 to get in and now I have to pay more $ for this?" Many still paid, but the experience always left a sour taste for whoever had to foot the bill.

We are a value oriented culture. Holiday World has tapped into this with their inflated gate price, which includes a bunch of "free" stuff.

Bottom line - it should be free. It's not capacity limited (I.e. Go Karts or Ripcord), it does not require extra staffing (like a haunt would) and it really is nothing more than a "family friendly" haunt-type walk through attraction (except no scary pirates, just scary robotic dinosaurs)

Side Note- I love how the marketing dept emphasizes "animatronic" as if this is a "cool thing." Isnt the point supossed to be the imaginative aspect of seeing real dinosaurs? It'd be like Disney saying "Come ride the Haunted Mansion, featuring 999 hologramic, fake ghosts!".

If I had to pay extra to see the holographic ghosts, I would. When a family comes to the park I'm sure they will know well in advance that this will cost extra and already know if they plan on going in it or not. There's enough information out there that anyone who goes regularly or those coming from out of state who will look up the park will know. And when families go to any park they know they will spending money, and if an extra $30 (for a family of four) will get my 2 kids to be quiet and not listen to them complain...here's my money and I'll buy some souvenirs too.

I have no doubt the dinosaurs will more than pay for their investment in their first season. I do doubt their success in following seasons though. Granted, I don't have kids, but I don't really see it being the kind of attraction that people decide to spend money on year after year. I suspect most people will see it once and that'll be it.

This doesn't make much sense. The dino attraction is targeted at younger folk, many of whom aren't tall enough to ride anything that provides said view.

Using what metric? From the standpoints of attraction diversity, land use, social popularity and potential profit, this attraction makes a lot of sense. I'm personally not a fan of the attraction, but your comment is completely ignorant. Unless you know something we don't.
