Did anyone witness or hear about the fight in line for maverick on sunday, may 31, 2009 ?

I was in line when the group I was with and I saw like 10 cops escorting people away from the line. But we had NO idea whatsoever what was going on at all. We figured it was line-jumping or smoking or something.

I think its funny how immature older people can be because its stupid how they act.

So stoked for 2010 :]

Wow another problem in the Maverick line. That line has issues!

maybe it's the ride itself. people look at it and their brain gets all screwed up while in line.

fast...Faster...FASTEST!

the people ridingon1771 mentioned were the people I pointed out to the police. they had them lined up at the exit when my friend and I got in the EMS golf cart to go to the first aid station. somtime while we were in there, the police released all of them. I still do not know how one of them got away, he was a very tall, menacing young man... wearing a flourecent orange baseball cap. that is what angered me the most, is that the police were not capable of finding such a large group with a huge orange beacon in the middle it.

I was also at KI on 4-19-09 and agree that the line-jumping was very brazen. I complained to one of the ride ops at Diamondback about a group of youths going from the queue entrance right up to the station and she told me that there was nothing she could do!!! I was really pissed as were the other patient people waitng in line. KI is definately lacking as far as enforcement of the park rules. I would like to see CP Police/Security at all the queue's to enforce the line-jumping policy.

This year it seems CPPD has been monitoring the lines a bit more! I specificly noticed them out monitoring during rain closures for the rides, they were looking for people not waiting at the ride enterance and just going in the actual line!

I have noticed an increase in line jumping in the past few years. I don't know how to say it without being accused of being a raciest, but 9 times out of ten it is someone of african or mexican decent.

That being said, I have also noticed an increase of more violance in line due to line jumping as more people are saying something to the offenders.

I blame the parks for this. They never enforce the rule.

If someone tries to linejump me, I DO say something to them. I am not going to get into a fist fight with them, but I will not let them past me, and if they go around another way I will turn them in.

I remember a few years ago while in line for volcano at kings dominium, they had a lifeguard chair in the que line with an employie watching over the crowd for line jumpers/ smokers. I think more parks need to look into something like this.

^That would be a sight: they can have whistle to whistle at line jumpers and handrail sitter and a life preserve to hit people ciggs out of their hand. They can sit up on the chair with an umbrella and a sign on the back that say "For safety reasons do not disturb the linegaurds while on duty, please find head linegaurd to answer your questions" They can use the combing technique they use at the wavepools and can blow their whistles every 10minutes to checkin with the head lineguard.

When it comes to enforcing the line jumping policy, while I will readily admit that there are probably a large portion of employees that try to not bother with it, there is also the issue of when it happens and if people say something about it. In a lot of cases, if there is a group that is line jumping and they get pretty far ahead in line without much resistance, then nothing will likely be said to an op before they board the ride and then exit afterwards. If a group gets reported to an op even 10 minutes after the fact, then 99% of the time they will have already ridden and gone on their way. Small groups are especially hard to track down in a very large line, and that is a problem as well.

My best advice that I can give to anyone here who sees a medium or large sized group line jumping and has no success with a ride op is to go to the Park Op office (or Town Hall if you're in FT) and let them know there is a group that is line jumping. If the office staff feel it is of enough importance, the supervisors and managers will call around to their rides and notify them of the situation and what/who to look out for.

While the CPPD is a sanctioned PD, they obviously don't quite have the kind of personnel that most city police depts. do. When you're hiring seasonal officers that are still law/criminal justice students, there's a good chance that they will be there for the fun of it and maybe just because they get credit. However the full timers are very reliable, and they are easy to pick out from the more easy-going seasonal officers.

As for the issues at KI, I would suggest that your first contact the park operations office there about it (either during your day or after you get home). If that doesn't work, then you may wish to contact someone at Cedar Fair if you feel so inclined. Policies like that should be enforced across the board with no exceptions.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Ehh.

Been there done that. It falls on deaf ears. They always give you the same "stock" answer.

Crazy Horse I totaly agree with you. A Lineguard would be an excellent Idea. I think Cedar Fair Should either get some "lineguards" or install some cameras that the entrance host could watch. At Dorney PArk there were quite a few line jumpers. If 1 person was getting a drink from the machines(inside the quene) its okay. but not the whole party. I am just wondering if anyone knows where we can leave a comment for the park manegers.

I was in line for Maverick, after closing, last year when one of the Ride Ops started talking to a line jumper over the load speaker. He described the persons clothing and kept repeating that he had seen him line jump and he would not be riding. Eventually the line jumper turned around and walked out of line. Everyone else in line began cheering. The best part was it was too late for him to get into any other lines.

Ride ops can't really do anything about line jumpers unless they see it happen. Otherwise its just he said she said. Since most of the ops are busy looking at the ride, and not the line, its rare they'll do anything.

Line jumping doesn't bother me too much. I cannot get to go to CP that often. So I am just happy to be there, and I don't let little things like that ruin my day.

I use to love to kick people out of line. You'd make 5 punks unhappy and make several hundred cheer for you.

Did you lose your ride on Maverick? Thats the thing I would be most pissed at. I would want some front of the line passes.

Next time bring pepper spray.

Let's Get Weird.

i think that the "lineguard" and security cameras are great ideas. thank you for contributing them.

as for pepper spray, we were within 150ft of over a thousand people and there was a light breeze blowing towards the majority of the people in line. In this case, I would say VERY bad idea. sorry.

and no, we didn't get to ride maverick, obviously that was one of the least of my concerns. even if we hadn't gone to the hospital, I wouldn't have let my friend ride anything if there was any posibility of head injury.

This whole situation really sucks. It almost sounds like a nother day at Six Flags. I hope someone from Cedar Fair is reading this and taking the correct steps to see that this does not happen again.

yes, it sucked very much
