At least you can still bring in your own alcohol to orchestra concerts there.

That's true. Of course, you can bring your own to major concerts, too. You just have to drink it out at your tailgate affair. :)

All they are doing is pissing off the people who know the park best. And we tell our friends...who in turn tell their friends.

Finally..., someone who understand's the title of this thread!!

Unfortunately, by understanding the title or whatever, you're missing out on the facts. Enthusiasts/Fans make up such a TINY percentage of CP's yearly/daily attendance, that it really doesn't matter.

It's not like they're going to collapse to their knees, into some awful state of financial ruin, if some angry fan tells a message board to boycott them and their small water cups.

I have to agree. I mean even though I may be angry and tell my friends... I don't even think this is enough for me to stop enjoying my time at the park and the 17 amazing coasters there. Small FREE water cups do not stop the park from being the "Coaster Capital of the World"

Hoping to one day build these great machines that we affectionatly call "Coasters"

It's not just fanboys that are going to be pissed off.

Mr Joe public is gonna look twice when someone hands them a shotglass of water knowing that the only other option they have is to track out to the car to get something to drink, or shell out almost $4 for a drink in the park.

There is more to enjoying an amusement park other than coasters. The whole experiance is what makes it fun....not just one aspect of it.

Have you had your liver checked lately? Because if you're using these water cups as shot glasses you're going to need a new one soon.

Ok, and I ask this seriously:

Have they taken out all of the water fountains? I don't remember the last time I was anywhere other than a restaurant that I would have asked for a glass of water...particularly when there are water fountains all over the place.

The anger about this is just going over my head. I like to be critical, don't get me wrong. But, this is just lost on me.

"You can dream, create, design and build the most wonderful place in the world...but it requires people to make the dreams a reality."

-Walt Disney

I am with Chief. How many people actually go to the stands and ask for water in a cup, not bottled water or pop? I don't see it very often. And I certainly don't see people lined up at the drinking fountains. Even at the Magnum restroom which I would guess is one of the busiest I rarely have to wait to fill up my water bottle.

If someone says they are not going to visit a park because a free cup of water is only 8 ounces instead of 12 all I have to say about that is WOW.

Yeah, this just doesn't sound like that big of a deal to me.

Who said they were never going to visit a park because of that?

It is just another thing to make the park experience not as much enjoyable as it used to be.

People keep saying "it's no big deal" to a lot of things the park(s) are doing, but it all adds up and is going to bite them in the rear and I think we are begining to see this.

Sure this may not be a big deal to some people, but to others it is. A lot of people are on budgets and can barley offord to even go to the park, let alone spend $4 on a drink. I was at the park the other day, and had to hunt down a drinking fountain that actualy had cold water to drink. It took 3 tries and a lot of walking before I had found one.

One would think that the park would put guest service near the top of the list. This is just yet another example that this is not true. If it were my buisness, I would want my guests to be happy.

Even if your not on a budget, the prices are just crazy. If I were cedarpoint, I would be embarrassed to charge what they are.

$7 for a jumbo hot dog, $13 for a sub($20 if you want to combo it), $3.75 for a bottle of soda, $25 for a pizza, almost $5 for a ice cream on a stick that a ice cream truck sells for $1. They are making huge profits off of people, so I don't think that it would kill them to offer free cups of water in a normal sized cup.

So yes, a free cup of water does make a differance to some people. Don't rag on them because it does not matter to you.(End rant).

You do realize we're talking about FREE cups of water. The size of the FREE cup of water should have no bearing on whether or not you have the money to buy a pop or not. And who said they aren't "normal" sized cups? Its an 8 oz cup. Smaller than their small pops, but not excessively so. I would wager that this is exactly like what Dave mentioned a few pages back, traditional method of measuring pop sales by counting the cups.

And to be honest, if your enjoyment of the park hinges on the size of the FREE cup of water, you have bigger issues to deal with.

I never said that it "hinged" on a cup of water, so stop putting words in my mouth. I said that it is just one of many reasons that the whole park experiance is going downhill.

Just one of many things.

It has not changed my mind to visit the park, but it has changed my spending routine and enjoyment at the park. I now sneak in my own drinks, and spend my money on food outside the park. And I make more money now, than I did a few years ago when I used to eat in the park.

Sure, it's a pain in the ass to leave the park, but I would rather do that and spend $5 at a fast food place(for a meal and drink) than have to spend $20 for a crappy, homeless shelter quality meal inside the park.

I fully agree that prices are too high, and don't fault you for that.

But how does a FREE cup of water, regardless of the size, have anything to do with food prices?

For what its worth, I believe 8 fluid ounces is considered "one serving".

And crazy, if they're making huge profits off people, then that suggests (stupid) people are willing to pay those prices. I'm certainly not (though I may check out MM on Tuesday), however, and my not purchasing food in the park is all I can do to urge the park to lower their prices.

Most people like to have a drink with a meal.....Do you agree?

In regards to the food prices,if I am paying $13 for a sub, $7 for a hot dog....ect...ect, I would expect more than a shot glass full of water if that's what I want to drink.

I have to side with Crazy Horse. Yes, it's only a free cup of water and I'm certainly not going to stop visiting Cedar Point because of the downsizing. It's just human nature that when you are used to something and it's taken away or in this case reduced, it your just not happy about it. Life will go on. It just takes a little from the overall expierience. It's the old "your gonna have to tighten your belts" thing. It seems to me that in these matters and I'm not just talking CP, things are taken away in small doses. Years later you look back and realize that you used to (have)... A, B and C, but not anymore. It adds up over time. If they suddenly reduced a ride cycle by half there would be plenty of discussion and unhappiness.

Also, I am surprised how many people do request the free water. Many more than I would have thought, but still only a small fraction of the whole.

So, these are the major issues we discuss on these forums. We all have our views. Whether management reads or cares who knows, but we at least had our say..

And it is more than a shot glass.

The water cup is 8 oz.

A shot glass is 2.

In the US, a standard shot is 1.5oz.

ADDED:
Crazy, if they didn't add ice, you'd probably be bitching about that. And last I checked, ice magically turns into water when energy, in the form of heat, is applied. :)
